You may not believe it yet, Zenitsu is the most popular character in Japan. In the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba popular character vote held in Weekly Shonen Jump, he came in second place in the first time, and first place in the second time. The first voting period is during the Mugen Train edition, and the second is during the final chapter.

Our Best Boy finally arrives! He may start out a bit rough, but he is such a fun and great character! And same with Zenitsu he does start off a bit annoying with his character at the start, but he becomes such an amazing character once you get to know him and his background. They both eventually get some great character development. Also if you didn't compare this enough with Evil Dead a Demon House definitely gives you even more things to love about this series, Luke! 😄

That sparrow is the only one left of its clan due to being a coward. It was assigned to Zenitsu because he is also a coward. But he can grow as a character!

Hey Luke, as for the ranks question you had in the video, the higher the number typically means the lower the rank so rank 10 is the lowest and rank 1 is the highest. This also goes for anything else moving forward in the anime. The lower the number, the higher the rank.

Zenitsu is an acquired taste that many never acquire. He always stays a bit overdone but I've noticed demon slayer often doubles down on character traits on initial introductions to make them stick in your mind. Zenitsu definitely is as good a boy as he is annoying though.

I think it helps for me personally that he always comes in clutch when it matters. And I’m referring to even when he’s awake. He’s a scaredy cat but for the sake of others he’s willing to face his fears like how defended the little girl in the entertainment arc. How he protects the box even though Inosuke beats him bloody. His character is a bit gimmicky but I can rely on him when I need to.

Quick info, Zenitsu share the same VA with Connie from Attack on Titan, and the boar head the same VA as Kirito from Sword Art Online. Also, by the time you read this comment, i'm sure you'll already know it, but in case you don't know about Zenitsu's ears yet, it's a very mild spoiler'ish. The reason Zenitsu has a sparrow and not a crow is because crows are loud and Zenitsu's ears are very sensitive.

Early on, I couldn't stand his constant screeching, even after seeing what he could do when he went unconscious. Kind of how I couldn't stand Asta shouting all the time 💀 But a friend thought Zenitsu was the coolest character from the get-go. So, you're not alone

The thing with Zenitsu is that he always comes in clutch when you need him. He’s a scaredy cat but he’s willing to protect the box even though he’s beaten bloody. In future seasons he stands up to demons that outclass him for the sake of others even though he’s terrified. His flaws don’t come at the cost of others having to pick up his slack. The humor for his character can get gimmicky but I personally think they don’t overdo it. He’s still reliable. He’s probably the most realistic character in the show in terms of how he reacts to the world around him. We’re more likely to act like him than Tanjiro or inosuke or any of the others

Speaking about the tone of the series as you mention, I think the name of the first chapter is the tone for the entire series "Cruelty". It is not that they are at war or that it is an atmosphere of constant terror. People live normal lives without ever seeing a demon or a hunter, but in every corner or corner there is this species of evil lurking. And even if a demon appears, a hunter will not always appear in time to save them, like what happened to Tanjiro and how he does not always arrive in time to save all the people despite being the protagonist of the series. It reminds me of the AOT episode where Mikasa realizes that the world is cruel even before her parents died but she just didn't pay attention to it..!

That Boar head voice actor is indeed Betelguese (Sloth) from re:zero, and Kirito from SAO. Also there are ranks for officers and works like promotions, like rank 10-1 and highest ranking officers have them in their team you could say. These would make sense as you progress.

Yeah Zenitsu is a VERY aquaierd taste but he is a pretty well rounded character after you get used to him. Still has his moments of being weird but that helps with the rounding.

It's because Zenitsu's hearing is so sensitive. Crows have loud and garish voices; I don't think it's started outright, but it is implied in the manga that the sparrow was an accommodation for Zenitsu's special hearing.

So, just a little back lore that never gets explained in the main story: Ukogi, aka Chuntaro, the Sparrow is the only non-Crow to have ever passed the Kasugai Crow Selection Process. After his entire family was destroyed by demons, he devoted himself to joining the Demon Slayer Corps and worked tirelessly until he passed the selection process and became the first ever Sparrow in the Kasugai Crow Corps of the Demon Slayers, and is also the only one that cannot speak. Despite his inability to speak, Tanjiro, and eventually Zenitsu and Innosuke all are able to understand what he attempts to communicate to them. And yes, as far as anyone knows, this has to do with the fact that Crows CAN speak human language, and Sparrows cannot. Also, as a side note, because Chuntaro is Zenitsu's 'crow' and always with him, the fanbase has given them the 'fusion name' of Zenitaro

Luke to answer your question, Tanjiro and Zenitsu are at the bottom of the rankings as noob demon slayers, anything they have faced so far is childs play to higher ranking demon slayers. Level 10, Mizunoto, is the bottom level category of slayers.

Some stuff with Zenitsu will make sense soon lol And honestly, out of all the characters in the show, I think my reaction to demons would be the same as his. Most realistic reaction to terrifying monsters and seeing people die. 😂 I will say though when it comes to Demon slayer, pretty much any character that comes into the show, give 'em a fair shot. Sometimes it takes a second to see their hearts a bit better lol Also yes! The boar head also voices who you're thinking of in Re Zero, he also voices Mechamaru in Jujutsu Kaisen. Edit: I just remembered you're also watching SAO now, he's the voice of Kirito too!

I remember everyone hating on Zenitsu, when this episode first aired, and all the manga readers were like "ohhh just you wait, you gonna love him". I don't know how far ahead the manga is, but we're at season 4 and I'm tired of waiting

He never grew on me at all. I have always and will forever hate this character. I don't care if he becomes the most powerful character in anime, he makes the show worse for 98% of his screen time.

i think it's so funny how we're so used to tanjiro's (most protagonists' really) "let's go no matter what" attitude that we forget that zenitsu is how normal people react in a scenario like that LMAO 😂 like would YOU go into that mansion? i def wouldn't and sure u could argue that he's a trained swordsman but he doesn't know that!!!! he's been thinking he sucks and just passed the selection by sheer luck!!! and also i think it's so interesting how we praise tanjiro's patience and kindness but we keep going "ughhh can't he die already!!!" when zenitsu isn't being perfectly helpful. i really love how imperfect these characters are, even though sometimes i wanna knock zenitsu on the head a bit 😂💗

I have yo say in behalf of Zenitsu that even tho he is scared to death he decided to go in cause Tanjiro was mad at him... Bro is a coward but can overcome it if looked at wrongly... he probably went through some shit hard enough to make him face almost certain death rather than disappointing someone

So the ranking system, rank 10 is the lowest. There are 5 grading systems each with an "upper" and "lower" rank before reaching the absolute highest rank of the demon slayer corps. 10 is the lowest, 1 is the highest of a standard demon slayer.

not you hating on my fave character already 🥲 i don't think i would have reacted any differently if i was about to enter a house with demon/demons. i don't think anyone of us are going to be as brave as tanjiro! zenitsu is kind of like a mirror to how all of us would react if we lived in a world full of demons..the only thing i kind of find annoying is him not understanding personal boundaries but i got past that once i got to know where he is coming from after learning his backstory! i dont really find his screams annoying also i fcking love the boar head dude! "coming through" you for sure know he is gonna come through and slay every demon

Idk how ppl are so rightfully freaked out by the demons and the way they gore humans and kill them, and yet they don’t understand why Zenitsu is horrifically terrified by being throw into fighting these things. And since he’s awake he has no idea his strength, he thinks he’s powerless and about to get ripped apart and eaten by a demon. I know he’s over the top but literally all of us would shit our pants were we in his position
