My first ever shoot with HD video - if you can call 720 HD. A trip through South Africa's remotest region, in the far northern Cape Province is a desert mountain region called The Richtersveld. Part of a World heritage site, this was my forth visit. Over one hour duration. Filmed in 2009. We were driving a Toyota Land Cruiser 80-series and a Toyota Fortuner 4x4.

Nowhere else on Earth contains such outstanding natural diverse beauty, as that of South Africa, it is a 360 degree landscape of wonderment set beneath the sparkling, density of the Milky Way, one which should be protected for eternity.

I agree that while South Africa does have an abundance of those places, it's not alone. I've been to such places on every continent I've been to, from the Death Valley California to the Gibson Desert, Australia, to the Hartmann Valley, Namibia - to name but a few..

I have been to the Richtersveld twice and loved jt each time. I just realized again I have seen nothing yet and one could easily spend a month there just quietly observing every little detail one would normally mis. I even saw fireflies at De Hoop campsite January 2020 that I have not seen in Southern Africa in many years.

The giant serpent he is referring to is the grootslang. It is one of south africas major cryptids. It is said to guard precious stones and metals (similar to dragon stories from other parts of the world claiming they love treasure). That hole is said to extend all the way to the sea! The prospector who went down there didnt risk going all the way and came back up when he smelt sulphur.

@4xoverland
@4xoverland 4 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as an unknown animal attacking someone. If they said they didn't know, they lied. Animals do attack people, but it's extremely rare. But every time they do, the animal can be identified, without anyone seeing what happened. Sleeping outside in Africa is no different from many parts of the world, where people are a far bigger danger.
