What do you do when the world is falling apart? Build a MASSIVE Gladiator of course. Welcome to the first episode of build series unlike anything we've done before. When an M35A2 (Deuce and a Half) nearly fell in our lap, we took on the impossible challenge of custom building the truck to be a giant Gladiator replica. This Deuce we picked up was built by Jeep in 1970. It's fitting that we make it match the Gladiator, a truck built by Jeep exactly 50 years later.
This will be a 9 month journey by the time we complete the project to unveil at Easter Jeep Safari 2021. We hope you enjoy our custom Alpha Deuce, M35A2, Deuce and a Half... whatever you want to call it... build series!
Join us for Episode 1 where we pick the Deuce up in Carson, Washington, and drive it home to San Diego, California, in a Convoy with the Gladiator and our Ram 1500.

Kuddos to you guys. I drove my Deuce from TN to MI, 700 miles and 14 hrs, my rear felt like swiss cheese when I got home, lmao. I bought a 69 Kaiser w/w and 395s for tires. He gave me all kinds of filters and spare parts along with 300 gallons of jet fuel, the guy was an airplane technician. I bought mine from a Steel Soldiers member, 12k, a bit pricey but it has been well taken care of. I didn't have to do squat except drive it and I've been driving it to work everyday. It's a beast and I love it.

That was fantastic great job I bought a m35a2 71 and a trailer a year ago kind of like yours faded paint but excellent condition hardly no rust. I just repainted them in time for the 4th parade. It was an absolute blast to drive it in the parade the kids and everybody loved it. It was great to see you guys's enthusiasm and determination and most of all love for the deuce. You knocked this one out of the park thank you God bless

I bought 5 duce's 10 years ago from government liquidation we use them on the farm. They have been very reliable only had to do mantnace to them. I use one to pull my camper to the lake. Nothing more American then a duce and a half with a big American flag on it at the lake. Have fun with your build.

Thank you for sharing! You’re 100% right. And probably second in line for most American is using deuces on your farm 💪 Have you seen the other episodes?

Deuce owner here...with over 20 years with them in the military. Synchro's go bad easily on 4th and 5th. If it ground when going into gear only, then just double clutch...i.e. Clutch out of 4th; release clutch; then clutch back into 5th. If done correctly this is safe, and simply how people drove prior to synchro's. If it grinds while in gear, then the gear needs replacing.

Thanks for your service! Yeah, the gears were bad and we just needed to get it home to start the build. We're not using that tranny any longer. Thanks for the heads up though!

Love your channel. As someone who has worked on railroads for 10 years, please take my advice and be very careful around train tracks. stay 25 ft from either side (trains could be dragging stuff or kick up rocks that will kill you). If you want to cross the tracks, do so deliberately, and as fast as you can, but don't run. Be aware that you only hear trains on the side. You will not hear a train headon. And if you hear them, it is too late. you will be dead if you are on the tracks. Professional wayside workers need to take annual safety training. And every year, professional workers still die. Trains need at least 1 mile to stop. If a train engineers sees you, and starts to brake, it is already too late. Take care.

Thanks for the warning!! I’m sure you’ve seen a lot in your training and we appreciate you sharing. It’s easy to think “it won’t happen to me”.

If the gear is noisy it can happen sometimes. They are very reliable and it might be warn. Was there metal in the trans when you changed the fluid?
@TrailBendersOverland
@TrailBendersOverland 3 жыл бұрын
There didn't appear to be any metal in the fluid but the knocking got progressively worse so we took the safe road. We're putting a completely direct transmission in for the build so it just needed to get us home....which it did, just really, really slow! lol

Big mikes motor pool, eastern surplus, tnj murray, Boyds equipment, and a few others. None of the normal auto parts places will have anything except filters and belts unless you have the right part number.

Know it’s a year after you put out this video and you changed all of the filters 2 oil 2 fuel from what I saw but there is a third fuel filter under the generator just thought you should know if you haven’t found out on your own

checkpoints are to stop fruits and veggies coming into California. The have had pest invasions in the past from people bringing in fruits and plants and such that have wiped out complete farms
@TrailBendersOverland
@TrailBendersOverland 3 жыл бұрын
That's what we thought as well. Funny we told them we had fruits and they just let us pass through. Perhaps they're looking for specific fruits?
@cttc1016

@@TrailBendersOverland They look mostly for plants and cases of fruits that could carry the harmful beetle that spread and ruin the crops , not a banana or apple that you are snacking on
