I remember the one time I decided to leave the letter alone so I could go around the house and pick up the loot before triggering the cutscene. Turns out that after some time, the game automatically starts the cutscene if you don't pick up the letter, and I was so annoyed at myself because now I couldn't blame the Pinkertons finding the gang in Lakay on Bill Williamson's stupidity! 😆

I mean in this case they still can when the only ones that heard the note died before they could report back. They didn't exactly have radios back then to instantly relay the info to each other. One of the Pinkertons at Shady Belle would've had to actually make it out alive to pass it on.

i mean your not wrong, but mica snitched then in one of the endings mica kills arthur i think this game causes stress leading you to feel in control yet it ends the way they made it at the cave id had shot mica right there when he drew down on arthur but either way arthur dies with tb , feels almost like they had a grudge 3 ways to kill arthur should have been the name of the game

True I tried that on my 2nd playthrough. There's another mistake in chapter 2 - if you do the train robbery before a fisher of men then arthurs dialogue doesn't change. He still says "they found me already near horseshoe" even though you've not met them yet

I think its more likely that the "fresh footprints" are sadies. They said that they came to the house everyday im sure one of them would have noticed the letter. It could be that Sadie went back after everyone else was safe or that she heard of someone they knew was around and went back to put the letter there knowing thats where theyd return because she said she also mailed a copy to the alias at the post office

@@razerscale3590you are right the prints could def be hers did not consider that. But they did NOT discover the letter because that happens during your playthrough (if you avoid grabbing the letter, you'll hear the pinkertons find and read it)

@@CB-cp9kf Well i mean more that since they are there everyday itll be weird to assume that the letter was there the entire time cuz they would have seen it so that must mean that sadie put the letter there after their last visit and before this one. Ik they never found the letter before this scene if not, then not at all.

After the assault on Lakay, you can see an agent wounded but alive in the cutscene, until Micah slits his throat. He ratted them out right after Guarma. I'm assuming he was afraid the agent would notice him or say something.

I just got this game and since I don't follow the roads just ride straight to the way point I happened to pass by lakay and I saw a bunch of lights so went to check it out and stumbled upon pearson and abigail lol and it was on my first playthrough

I find it so dang bizarre that such an open-ended game with it's considerations on player agency can take such a 180 degree turn with it's overly-rigid mission structures. Two separate philosophies were clearly at the helm of this GOAT. One side wanted to make the ultimate open-world cowboy simulator and the other wanted to direct a greatest-hits mashup of all cowboy movies. This pulling and prodding of each form on the other leaves such a degree of dissonance that player frustrations are guaranteed.

Thats exactly my first run through. I didn't look at the letter. I usually do this kind of stuff in many games. I'll look for all potential options or items before I start snatching up. But sometimes im just running through. I still missed enough to play the story twice. This game was ahead of releasing suppressed technology.

The entire story is about the gang fleeing from the law eastward towards 'civilisation', and they wanna be going west into the wilderness, to freedom. But isn't civilisation equal to more lawmen? Why didn't they flee westward to begin with?
