A less frightening theory is that the cord was used as a tourniquet to find veins that haven't totally been destroyed by constant injections. They just tied it to the chair as to avoid losing it. Still depressing to think about...

I believe you. If you want to tie someone to a chair you need more than just one electric cord.

This is almost certainly what it was for. Saying someone was tied to the chair with it was a real stretch when we've already seen a lot of evidence of drug use in the building.
@voidoflight2420
@voidoflight2420 8 ай бұрын
I feel like it most likely had to be this, and not someone tied to the chair. I doubt a singular cord would have been used to restrain someone, when it could probably be easily broken through in a stressful situation. Not to mention the signs of drug use which is seen in almost every single inch of the place.

I can’t imagine the amount of pain that building holds seeing all the drug paraphernalia. If those walls could talk they would show you what despair really is. But they would also tell stories of hope. How someone tried to get clean, left their packaged sober living belongings & fell back off track. I pray they find the light that spills through the cracks of even the darkest places. From someone who’s been there and found that light 6 years ago. It’s possible.

I recognize some of the writing on the wall at 5:40 as old "hobo code!" Because vagrancy and trespassing crimes have become more heavily prosecuted in recent years (AKA cops have taken more of a fancy to arresting the unhoused) this culture has fallen out of use, but several decades ago these symbols were commonly used to denote good shelters, spots to avoid, etc. I'm not sure what the more complex text to the right shakes out to, but the symbols in the center (next to the Santa drawing) seem to be directions. The circle with the cross in it means "good place for a handout" and the circle with the line up top means "go this way." Not sure about the other two, but they may suggest where to turn or stop. Seems to me like someone wrote out the directions to a home that was known to give out meals or cash to folks traveling through. Really cool find, Dan!
@JohnShinn1960
@JohnShinn1960 10 ай бұрын
Another commenter mentions the numbers on the wall at 5:43 to be Fram automotive filter numbers, having worked as a lube tech I agree. I also recognize the taillight/marker light display (9:30) from truck part stores. I believe the place was an auto/truck part store at one time. The early 70s collage is a wonderfully facinating historic time capsule twist which includes president Jimmy Carter's brother Billy. I'd love to have been there when that was created. I see nothing nefarious about the chair as others mention the cord as a tourniquet. Thanks for the tour Dan! 🤓👍

So... You asked what that place was, and what some of the numbers on the wall (next to creepy Santa about 6 minutes in) were... That was an auto parts store at one point. Those numbers are Wix and Fram oil filters; and the cross references/replacement part numbers for them as part numbers got superceded. My hunch? It was probably a Napa based on the numbers. The one rotating cube on an upper floor with the lights/reflectors on it was a "trailer lights" display that was sent to each store. Was a college career (Late 90s/early 2000s), but stuff like that gets embedded in your brain. Upper floors were probably the warehouse/racks, lower was probably the retail. Person would get part numbers, and run up and down the stairs to grab parts. Worked in a larger mid-city store that was formatted in a similar manner; I did not require a gym membership. Based on part numbers and some racking/fixtures I recognize, I'd bet the place closed in the late 90s. Chair set not included. Ad art was late 70s on the wall at about 8m in. Crazy that in downtown Bal'more stuff like this is just flat out abandoned like that. Even in my rust-belt city, that stuff is getting snatched up for lofts, coffee shops, art space, etc block by block...

Good call man! I had a hunch it was auto parts based off the part numbers & the continental tire sign that was on the floor. That’s the sad truth about a lot of areas in Baltimore. People are afraid to live there hence the lack of building & development in certain areas. Don’t get me wrong Baltimore has some nice areas too but it has had a really bad rep for awhile now.

That chair and condoms....either gang rape or someone violently raped someone MANY times! And the blood in chair and the rope! Was it like 2 days later when you went back and the condoms where gone?? Do the cops know about that.....? It was most def a crime scene. That is terrifying.

The only non-sinister explanation I can come up with is consensual BDSM but who in their right mind would choose THAT location to hook up?? I don't see how it could possibly be a consensual situation...

The police need to be involved on this one. If the criminal was confident enough to return to clean up, he will probably return to do a repeat crime... Somewhere there is a victim who needs justice

Do people generally use condoms when they rape people? Most likely was some sort of prostitution.

that’s how you know you had just walked into a crime scene when a chair and some condoms are the ONLY things cleaned up. that person know what they did and didn’t want any trouble to come of it. just fucking disgusting. i hope any and all victims are safe and okay

Might just be an insane junkie, using that chair and chord to shoot the filth into his veins. Thats why there are blood stains on it. But then again, there are a lot of sick people around. And thousands of people go missing every year. Some fall in rivers, some are taken by mountain lions etc, but a lot of people are probably murdered. Creepy place anyways.
