THE DIFFERENT RACES OF THE HISPANIC GROUP

These are the different races of the Hispanic group. Hispanic is not a race, only culture/ethnicity. This video was designed for education purposes only, not to smear the reputation of any race. Some believe that Hispanic and Latino are races. This video debunks that idea. Please enjoy.

***** Did you watch the video? Mestizos are people that are mixed race of European and Amerindian, they are not just Amerindian. I said most people in Latin America are white because according to censuses taken of the area, the largest race is white, but following closely is mestizo, the mixed race I explained to you, and the one most found among U.S. Hispanics (because most are Mexican descent and most Mexicans are mestizo of some sort). Afromestizos make up a smaller proportion of Latin America. When I said most were white, I mean't native born whites, just like how white Americans are. But most whites in Latin America are of predominantly Southern European ancestry rather than predominantly Northern European ancestry like white Americans. And when I said Spain are white Hispanics, I meant the great majority of Spain that are native Spaniards, not immigrants, c'mon....use your head.

***** Mestizo is a person that is a mix of significant European and Amerindian DNA. There are different types of mestizos and I will list them: castizo-75% Euro & 25% Amerind, harnizo-70% Euro & 30% Amerind, balanced mestizo- 50% Euro & 50% Amerind and indiomestizo-75% Amerind & 25% Euro. Now of course mestizos are not as cut and dry anymore like this, but it would be just up to discretion per say if one was like 72% and 28% Euro. But this is when using genetics. Upon identifying people in public socially, castizo and harnizo is not generally used and people just identify them as mestizos for the whole group. So in Latin America, there are full to near full races like white or Native American or black and then there are the mixed races like mestizo, mulato, zambo and afromestizo. According to several censuses taken of Latin America, the majority of Latin America consists of white Latin Americans (Latin Americans of full or near full European ancestry, it could be Spain or France or Italy or Germany or any mix of European ancestries). The second largest race is mestizo, which is almost as many in number as the whites, just slightly less. This is the race that makes up the majority of Latin Americans in the U.S., hence why most people in the U.S. see Latin Americas as brown people, because mestizos are a mix of European and Amerindians and have a brownish color. The rest of Latin America is made up of minority populations of other races like Native American, black, mulato, afromestizo, zambo and even some very small ones like Middle Easterners and East Asians. Spain on the other hand is mainly made up of native Spaniards whom are white Europeans. But there are tiny minority populations living in Spain which include Middle Easterners, Latin Americans of any race and others.

Pac Oo By Hispanic what do you mean? Because Hispanics are not one race of people and can be any race and can be the same races that are found in the U.S.. So do you mean mestizo? Like a brown type Hispanic? I suppose you mean like the average Mexican type. There are many Hispanics that do not fit that description and would look like white Americans or black Americans because there are some Hispanics that are black or white.

Lol, do you know that the United States has this fixation on Hispanics only looking like mestizos? Colombian actress Sofia Vergara has been told many times to die her hair black for U.S. movie/television roles and to tan more, because they thought she didn't look "Hispanic" enough. That's so stupid, because she's got a true Hispanic look, one you can find in Spain easily, and guess what? It's not a mestiza look, it's a Latin white woman. When it comes to education about race vs. nationality vs. ethnicity, the U.S. is dead last. It makes me sad because I am an American. I'm a Spanish-American, but I'm still an American.

IslenoGutierrez I would say i am curious of how the US defines Hispanic. I always considered Hispanics as the the descendants of what was Hispania,the Roman name for the Iberian Peninsula ( the name was also used in the period of Visigothic rule from A.D 418. to 720 ) Spain, Portugal, Andorra. In that case the Portuguese speaking Brazilians are also Hispanic due to Portuguese colonization. How is Hispanic defined in America?
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 10 жыл бұрын
Morganna I see it the same as you, but in the United States, the English speaking white Americans have dubbed people from Latin America as "Hispanics" and their stereotypical image of Hispanic is the mestizo race (European/Native American Indian mixed race). And to make matters worse, the white Americans say that Spaniards are not Hispanics (but some see Spaniards as Hispanic). And to make things worse than that, they think Hispanic is an actual race that looks like the mestizos and they compare Hispanic to other races like white or black. It's ignorance. And to top it off, U.S. born Americans of Latin American heritage take this definition from white Americans and they enforce it vigorously. U.S. Americans of Latin American heritage are now the #1 cause of the spread of "Hispanic race" identity. It'a all ignorance. To me, Hispanic=Spaniard/Portuguese/Andorran.

Morganna I agree with you. I see Hispanics as Spaniards, Portuguese, Andorrans, and their descendants from Latin america. I see Latinos as anyone who is of ancestry anywhere the Romans ruled since the languages in those areas come from Latin and the people have the blood of Romans and the native populations. Although in America where I live Latinos and Hispanics are just Spaniards and people from Latin america.

I'd suggest doing a DNA test. Even very native looking mestizos score around half European. Take a DNA test, you will then know. Sometimes DNA does split so perfectly and can produce one child that looks more native and another that looks more Euro from the same percentage of each of the two elements. George Lopez is just over half Euro, Dolores Huerta is just under half Euro and Mario Lopez is 70% Euro. But also take in mind, a person mixed Amerind/Southern Euro will be darker with darker features than an Amerind/Northern Euro mestizo type would.

23andme is the most solid one, I'd suggest them. it would seem both your parents are mestizo (Amerinds don't have curly hair), so it's best you take a DNA test. teresaguerrasalazar Creole is not a race in the USA. There are white Creoles and mulatto Creoles. Creole in the US just means a descendant of the French and/or Spanish settlers of colonial Louisiana (US state of Louisiana). In Spanish-speaking Latin America, Creole is spelled criollo and means a white Latin American (usually of Spanish descent).

To me Anita, your appearance is of a European dominant mestiza, which means you are predominantly white with minor Native American ancestry. I'd bet you were about 70% European, 30% Native American. I have access to many Mexican DNA test results if you would like to see them. The country of Mexico is about 60% mestizo, 30% Native American, 9% white and 1% other which includes afromestizos and smaller minorities like Lebanese and East Asians. But your phenotype is a predominantly European mestiza. I suggest you look into a DNA test. try the company 23andme, they are one of the best commercial DNA testing company.

***** This is nonsense. If you were familiar with genetic studies and genetic testing by both universities and anthropology teams, you would understand that genetic testing is real and we have plenty of knowledge about it. There is also a set of genetic calculators (per gedmatch) and that give information on population genetics. I can give you several links to many Mexican DNA tests, also studies on Mexican populations that show most of them are European dominant at a rate of around 60%-70% Euro. There are of course mestizos with a more balanced 50%/50% genetic profile and even some with predominantly Amerind backgrounds like around 60%, but the vast majority of Mexican mestizos are predominantly European. Also, mestizo is a name for the particular Euro/Amerind mixed race. It's not used to oppress anyone in the 21st century and is still in use. I'v seen hundreds of DNA test results of Mexican mestizos and they average around 70% European/ 30% Native American. I can surely prove it. There are also many professional studies done on Mexicans that I can also supply you with that show Mexicans on average are majority European with a minority of Amerindian blood. Do not attempt to poison this girl's mind with conspiracy theories, racism and a victimhood complex.

We range in many different colors and races, it's only culture and language that bonds us. So I made this video to explain to non-Hispanics who we are and even Hispanics in the U.S. that believe Hispanic is a race. It's not. I'd have to see a front facing pic of you. I don't see any Middle Eastern Features from that side view, but there could be some in the mix. You never know, you'd have to DNA test. From that side view, you look to be a European dominant mestizo, maybe like castizo-harnizo range. What country is your heritage from? Moors were not that common in Latin America although some did make it there. But there were some Lebanese immigrants long ago that settled certain areas. But I don't see anything Middle Eastern about you from the side pic though. Sometimes a castizo-harnizo type can give off a pseudo-Middle Eastern phenotype without any Mideast admixture. So I recommend a DNA test. Again, from the side pic you have in your avatar, you look to be a lightly mixed mestizo of predominantly European origin, most probably in the castizo/harnizo range.

Let me say this....you are only saying this because they are from Latin America and you are prejudging Latin Americans as a "mixed people". If I would have posted the races of the United States, you would have never said anyone was mixed with anything, you would have just accepted some were white, some were black, etc. No race on earth is pure, but there are many that are pretty damn close to being homogenous. These people in the video are in these categories according to phenotype, which is exactly what is done in the United States. Most Black Americans are partially white, but no one ever brings up they are a mixed race. Black Americans are seen as blacks. And millions of white Americans have some Native American ancestry thrown in like Chuck Norris, Heather Locklear, Johnny Depp, Elvis Presley, Tommy Lee Jones, etc. but no one is bringing this up saying they are "mixed" or nonwhite. They are seen as whites and the blacks in the U.S. are seen as blacks. No questions asked. But bring up the same categories from Latin America, and all of a sudden they are "mixed people". Lol, gimme a break. These people are just as much white as white Americans and black as black Americans and just as Native as Native Americans, etc. I listed the races and mixed races. This video is correct.

People from Spain and Portugal don't want to call themselves Hispanics because its too Hispanic? WTF? Hispanic is a term FAR more ancient than the languages of Spanish and Portuguese. Up until the 1400's, the Spanish language, which is actually Castillian, didn't even exist, and Portugal shared the same dialect with the Gallecia, a region of north-western Spain. Hispanic refers to people from the ancient Roman Province of HISPANIA, the Latin name for Iberia.

Ah, I'm so glad you decided to try and correct me, so I can enlighten you a little bit. The appropriate term is not Indian, as that is the appropriate term of the ethnic group of the South Asian country of India. Native American denotes a native of America. And since America is the continent, not just the USA, it's very appropriate to call them natives of the continent of America. Canada has their way of calling Amerindians, as many places. But calling them Native American is correct.

there's an interesting structure to this video: it goes from the most white to the least white, and from the most western to the least western. i wonder why? it may not have been a conscious decision, to present the groups in that specific order, but especially if it wasn't (conscious), that is sure some food for thought.

There is no international agreed-upon standard for the land mass comprised of North and South America. About half of all the nations of the world OFFICIALLY view "America" as a continent (that spans from Alaska down to Argentina/Chile), they teach it like that in schools and everything; and the other half of all the nations in the world OFFICIALLY view it as two separate continents: North and South [America], and are taught in school that way. There is NO international standard unfortunately.

Their ways, accents, traditions, cooking, etc. I was like wow when I first seen this. And also, I took a DNA test and I was linked to a couple of Puerto Ricans that I'm related to. Apparently someone from my family broke off and went to Puerto Rico at some point and started a family. PR had lots of Canarian immigrants.

Filipinos were left out again. Las Islas Filipinas (the Philippines) was once known as the Spanish East Indies and was part of Spain for almost 400 years -- longer than most LatAm countries, except Cuba and Puerto Rico. In fact the Philippines was named after King Philip II of Spain, thus the name. That makes the Philippines and its people truly Hispanic.

Joseph Libatíque Filipinos are not truly Hispanic. The Spanish language never replaced the indigenous Austronesian languages like what happened to Latin America and even today, Austronesian languages are very dominant. Spanish was the official language though and the lingua franca for 300+ years but it didn't stay because when the Americans arrived, they replaced it with English which stayed to this day. Spanish DNA also has very low contribution to modern Filipino DNA unlike Latin Americans. I would consider Philippines as "Hispanicized" though because Hispanic culture penetrated deeply into Filipino society so much that Philippine culture seems to resemble Latin American culture more than Indonesia and Malaysia.

Yes, Puerto Rican Spanish is highly influenced by Canary Islanders. If you listen to Canarian Spanish and Puerto Rican Spanish, they are very similar. And being that there is a history of lots of Canarians in Puerto Rico, not the other way around, that is why your Spanish sounds like mine. My people went to Puerto Rico in droves and highly influenced it's language and culture. Of course Andalusians, Galicians, Catalans, Asturians and others had influence too. The Canarian influence was great.

There's something about Necacaxuxultic's lower face, jawbone, cheeks, that is just reminiscent of Amerindians features and not found in Italians. But yes, his upper and mid-face features are definately Caucasian, which combined with his dark hair and olive-skin complexion almost makes him look Italian when looking at him quickly without paying close attention for more than a few seconds. You have to be quite adept at recognizing Amerindian facial features to notice them on someone like him.

Very interesting video. This thing of painting with a broad brush is a politically correct thing. An effort to create demographics that can be addressed and controlled as a homogeneous mass for political reasons. All these names really mean nothing. The races are White, Black, Asian, Native (indigenous) indian, and then the mixed races described in this videos and by other terms used by the French and English during colonial times (Quartoon, Octaroon, etc.) that refer mixed races. Hispanic, Anglo, Franco, etc. do not indicate race, but cultural background.You want to take if one step further, look at the absurdity of the term African-American. Charlize Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa. She emigrated to the US where she became US citizen through naturalization. Charlize Theron is, therefore, a real African-American yet, it doesn't get much whiter than Charlize.

Pitbull and Ricky Martin aren't white, they are considered white because they are 7/8 European, but you can still see those Amerindian traits. I did some research and I guess you would call them rather Criollo's. I know in countries like Cuba and Puerto Rico, where these 2 artists come from, it's a normal occurence to describe Criollo people as white.

Pitbull and Ricky Martin are whites. You wouldn't be questioning the whiteness of a white American, even those white Americans to have known Amerindian admixture like Johnny Depp, Heather Locklear, Megan Fox, Cindy Crawford, Tommy Lee Jones, Chuck Norris, Elvis Presley and others. Pitbull and Ricky Martin do not have Amerindian features, they look like Spaniards. And criollo is a nickname for whites of the Americas, especially Latin America. Criollos were the native born whites of two European born parents, usually from Spain.

IslenoGutierrez ''Criollos were the native born whites of two European born parents, usually from Spain.'' Weren't they called and defined as Peninsulares? I don't know really, except for that definitions have changed a lot over the past few centuries. For example the word Hispanic: it used to refer only to people who were born on the Iberian Peninsula, while nowadays it refers to anyone who is born in a Spanish speaking country. I have to disagree with you on that though: Pitbull and Ricky Martin are white and Spaniards. If you are considered, it doesn't mean you are really or actually white. Maybe you are then an American white but not a European standard white. I have been on holiday many times to Spain, to cities like Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga, Cordoba, Madrid etc: and know for instance the people there don't look like Pitbull or Ricky Martin. They have something that only Amerindian people have and can share when mixed. I know the line between Mestizo, Castizo, Criollo and white is blurred, so I understand and accept your opinion that you think, because they are still of European descent, they are all white.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 10 жыл бұрын
***** I have to disagree. I've lived in Spain for several years, my family in fact is from Spain originally. There are people that look 100% like Pitbull and Ricky Martin in Spain. They are whites. As for criollos, they are native born Europeans. Peninsulares were the Spaniards born in Spain that lived in Latin America. I'm criollo. There are many whites in Latin America. Mostly they are Argentines, Uruguayans, white Cubans, white Puerto Ricans, white Venezuelans, white Colombians, white Costa Ricans, white Chileans, etc. White is the largest race in Latin America, mestizo is the second largest. But in the U.S., mestizo is the largest because most Latinos in the U.S. come from poor immigrants and most were from Mexicans. Most Mexicans are mestizo and the ones that came to the U.S. were poor and mestizo. Most Puerto Ricans that came to the U.S. were poor and in Puerto Rico, most poor are afromestizos/blacks, because white Puerto Ricans are usually well off. The only large scale white Latino group in the U.S. are the Cubans.

IslenoGutierrez For the fact your surname is Spanish and you have lived in Spain, I accept your view! ;) Still, it doesn't change the fact that in Cuba and Puerto Rico it's quite common for today's considered white people to have an Amerindian ancestor. So there is a high chance that Pitbull or Ricky Martin are Criollo: definition: except for European no more than 1/8 of another race. This means they would not be pure white or European. So, I have to disagree with you on this, but I do still respect your opinion. :) You are right though about Peninsulares, I guess I misread the information. x-) The Criollo's were the people who were born in Latin America and had European ancestry, mixed with no more than 1/8 Amerindian, Black or Asian ancestry. I guess because the line between whiteness have been blurred over the past few centuries, you can call them white though, although it is still disputable. I mean, if you have an Amerindian ancestor, you can't say or claim you are pure European or white: but that is for another debate. :)

***** Are you just frickin' blind or can't you see it? Lol yourself! Have you not read what I wrote, clearly not, they are NOT WHITE! Pitbull has his facial features and hair. I can't help it that he shaved himself bald to make him look more European and white. Ricky Martin has his facial features as well and his skin color. Maybe you just aren't smart enough to see the difference, same like the Americans; thinking Spanish people look like Mexican Mestizo's. They do not look like, for example Jennifer Lopez or Gloria Estefan either, as caucasian or European. They may appear, but they are nothing like real whites from Spain and continental Europe.

Italians are of Southern European phenotypes. Some may have admixture on a small scale, but most are European. Italians in the North are more similar to Austrians, Germans and French, and in the south more like Greeks. Just Southern European populations have more brunette tones because of the warmer climates of Southern Europe. Northern Europe has a much colder climate, producing lighter tones. But both Northern and Southern are European Caucasians.

No, not all people with dark hair and light eyes are Alpine, but those types do make up a large portion of the Alpine type. Isleno, I dont know how you come up with a definite categorization especially when it comes to defining the mestizo group, Im sure you are aware that in Spain itself there are several ethnic groups and among them are people with even darker skin than the ones you listed as mix native and white. its a very thin line you are dealing with and unless you have these people undergo a DNA test you cant make the same mistake as most Americans make by calling the darker ones mestizo ( native white) although they may very well be in most cases.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 9 жыл бұрын
Well I am aware of the types of people in Spain, as I'm Spanish-American and my family came to the U.S. from there. In Spain there are some different ethnic groups such as the Basques, but basically most Spaniards are Celtiberian, which is a mix of Celtic and Ancient Iberian. After the reconquista when the Spaniards expelled the Moors from the south, much of the south was vacant and was repopulated by migration of Northern Spaniards into the south. So because of this, you can find the same people all thoughout Spain: Celtiberian. Some have a touch of North African and some don't, but it's only small and does not exceed 3% usually. You mention there are darker ones in Spain than some mestizos. Well that is true, as a mestizo may get a lighter skin tone from a lighter part of the Celtiberian ancestry from Spaniards and the Spaniard got the darker part of the Celtiberian ancestry. But that's now where you define race. You define race in the facial features. A mestizo can be lighter than a Spaniard, but in the face they will not look fully European where a Spaniard will. There are "darker types" in Spain and lighter types, but this is just from the Celtiberian ancestry usually, as those with darker looks have more of the Ancient Iberian component that has surfaced in their phenotype, and the lighter ones have more of the Celtic component that has surfaced in their phenotype. In Spain, you can have darker ones and lighter ones in the same family. But they are all whites. White is not a skin tone identifier, but a racial identification. And since Europeans are seen as white and Spaniards are Southern European, they are whites. White was never created to pit Europeans against themselves of fair skin vs. olive skin, but was created in the late 16th century in the New World to identify Europeans in contrast to black West Africans and red/brown Amerindians. In Europe, there is both fair skin and olive skin, light hair and dark hair, light eyes and dark eyes. I did not make these categorizations up, they exist in Latin America. I just made a video to teach them to people who don't know about them and think all Hispanic people are supposed to be mestizo looking and look like Santana or Cheech Marin or something. There can be a thin line when comparing whites and castizos, but not whites and harnizos or balanced mestizos and certainly not from indiomestizos, Amerinds, mulattoes or blacks. Castizo is 3/4 Euro and 1/4 Amerind, Harnizo is 2/3 Euro and 1/3 Amerind and indiomestizo is 2/3-3/4 Amerind and 1/3/-1/4 European. They are different types of mestizo and belong to the "mestizo" racial category. But today, people rarely use those terms and just use mestizo for any people that is a substantial mixture of Euro and Amerind.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 9 жыл бұрын
***** Only ignorant people are trying to do that. Spanish people are Europeans, just like other Europeans. If you look in DNA tests, North African DNA is barely present at only 2% in the population and many don't even have any. Germans shouldn't be so proud since it's a fact that small percentages of Siberian blood has been found in the blood of Northern Europeans. But again, all of these small traces are nothing. Most people around the world have a percent or two of something. Spaniards are whites just like other Europeans.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 9 жыл бұрын
***** Well I myself truly believe that coastal North Africans (the white looking kind) as well as Levantines (the indigenous kind, not the kind very admixed with genetics from the Arabian Peninsula) I believe these two groups to be white. I just believe them to be Mediterranean Caucasoids, just like Europeans from the Mediterranean areas of Europe, but just a little different. The Caucasoid race is one really, but if you look at it, Europe, coastal North Africa and the Levant are more like Europeans, where Indians, Pakistanis and Arabians are a little less like Europeans although they are still Caucasoids and more like Europeans when compared to East Asians or black Africans. But often, "white" is exclusively used for Europeans in most places, but in some regions, coastal North Africans and Levantines are considered white. In Latin America, whites are Europeans, Levantines and coastal North Africans. In the US, the definition used by the government is that white is any peoples with origins in Europe, the Middle East or North Africa (although the American society only views Europeans as whites.) So really it depends on what you believe. But yes, many Levantines (area around Lebanon, Syria, Israel) do in fact look white. Often Ashkenazi Jews are seen as whites in most places also.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 9 жыл бұрын
***** Same thing in the USA. Even though the Turk or Moroccan looks just as white as the European, society views them as non-white because society in the USA views whites to only be from Europe. But what people need to understand is, the Caucasoid race is like a gradualization from the light types such as those from Europe, Anatolia and the Levant and coastal North Africa then the medium types like those from the Arabian peninsula to Iran then there are the darker type Caucasoid like the Pakistanis, Afghans and Indians. White as a race usually is exclusively used for Europeans, so many people think that those outside of Europe even though they look similar to Europeans are not white because they are not European. But genetics cross man made borders often and I believe those of Turkey, the Levant and coastal North Africa are closely enough related to Europeans to be considered white. but that's just my personal belief. Most people in the world see "whites" as Europeans and their full or near full blooded descendants around the world and if you are not from Europe, you are not white. That's the basic belief of most people in the western world.
@IslenoGutierrez
@IslenoGutierrez 9 жыл бұрын
***** Well Turks can look just as European as Europeans, and some can look just as Middle Eastern as Middle Easterners. Actually Turkey is the buffer zone between Europe and the Middle East. But they are actually mixed with both ancestries. But it's all on what you believe. If you believe the white race ends at the Greek border with Turkey, then that's your belief. That's usually the believe of most Americans, and even most Europeans. But there are some that include Turks as whites, too. It's all on what you believe. If you look at the genetics of Europeans, from Ireland to Greece, they share the same types of genetic ancestries, but in different percentages, but Turkey on the other hand has a different looking DNA picture. It's European-like, but there are some differences. They are like the intermediate between Europe and the Middle East, just as their geographical position dictates.

Raul Montoya Ever thought about getting a DNA test? I have access to lots of DNA tests for mestizos from 23andme (DNA testing company) and they range from being a proper or near proper mestizo (1/2 Euro and 1/2 Amerind) to harnizo (2/3 Euro and 1/3 Amerind) to castizo ( 3/4 Euro and 1/4 Amerind. Some even were predominantly Amerind (like 60 Amerind/40 Euro), but the vast majority were predominantly European. You look like a predominantly European mestizo, around the harnizo/castizo variety.

According to DNA studies on the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal combined), only 11% of the population has any Berber ancestry. 89% does not have Berber ancestry. This was because the Moors were expelled from the Iberian peninsula. That 11% figure was for the entire peninsula which included Portugal as well, so split that in half and only about 6% of Spaniards have Berber ancestry. But Spain's Canary Islands are a different story, most Canarians are part Berber.

I never said that JLo looked black in the face. Sometimes when I glance at her from the corner of my eye, I think I'm seeing a light-skinned African American before I recognize her face. As you know, most African Americans are of mixed black, white, and/or Amerindian descent. Modern geneticists - such as David Reich, Ph.D., Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School - are discovering through scientific research on DNA that human beings are more mixed than they generally think they are.

It's true there are many whites in South America, but it's not true that whites are 1% of the Caribbean. They are 37% alone in Cuba (they used to be 74% of Cuba in 1958, one year before Castro took power) and there are sizeable numbers in Puerto Rico and even quite a few in the Dominican Republic. I used these celebrities because this video was made to educate Americans of the US and these are celebrities familiar to them. There are whites in almost every country in Latin America, just some have more than others. I do agree with you that the majority white countries today in Latin America are in South America, but again, I used people that Americans of the US were familiar with and they are just not that familiar with many celebrities from South America.

***** If we take that into consideration, yes, there's a decent percentage of whites in Chile. In Argentina (my country) the percentage of whites is being reduced every single day. Especially in the last ten years, we have received millions of people from Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru (mostly). In a sense, that's a problem of all white countries (US and Europe in general); the difference here is that the government is promoting that immigration for political reasons (they give documents to these people and get their votes).

Unfortunately for me, as a native Spanish speaker, the English definition of "country" is actually not an "exact" translation of the Spanish word "Pais" since in English it seems the word "country" has inherent ties to the Legal definition of the word, whereas in Spanish it does NOT. Hence why you'll often hear in Spanish, people calling PR "Pais" (ie, "nuestro Pais", "este Pais") which actually *IS* in concordance with the OFFICIAL Spanish definition of the word. So I apologize for my English.

That's why some Spaniards can be fair, some tan, some inbetween. Some light eyes, some dark eyes, some light hair, some dark hair. And also, some of the ancient Iberians had colored eyes and dark brown hair, not just black hair. So even within their population their was variety, before the mixing took place. So today, Spaniards are mainly Celtiberians, in most regions of Iberia. This goes for the Portuguese too.

People in the U.S. seem to just want to group all Spanish speakers into one racial group, but I don't know how that's possible when we all don't even look the same. It's because most Hispanics in the U.S. are Mexican, and most Mexicans are mestizo, so most people of the U.S. are equating Hispanic to Mestizo. Even Afromestizos that don't look too black in features can get the "Hispanic" label. It's ironic though, because in Latin America, Hispanic is tied to Europe and whites from Spain.

The people of Iberia (which the Canary Islanders call "la peninsula") are a usual mix of Celtic and Iberian, which forms Celtiberian. Then in certain areas, there are individuals with some admixture from Romans or Goths (Germanics), Moorish or Jewish. Some even have admixture from various ethnic groups from other parts of Europe such as southern France and Northern Italy. But the core of the Iberians is Celtiberian. A study on Iberia revealed 11% had Moorish and 20% had Jewish. Minorities.

Yes, and the Dominican media tried to correct her in saying she's a darker MULATA, and she said "no, let's get it straight, I am a black woman". She said that because she was raised in the United States, where anyone with any noticeable Sub-Saharan black African ancestry is deemed "black", no matter the amount. So someone like Mariah Carey is seen as "black" in the U.S., but could never pass as black in Latin America. So Zoe grew up with this flawed logic. She is NOT a black woman. She's mulata.

This is true. Not all Middle Easterners are Arab. Some are indigenous Levantine, some are Persian, etc. Not even "Arabs" are an actual race if you look closely. They are diverse within their own group. Some have portions of Levantine, some have portions of East African, some have portions of Indian, etc. Some are categorized as Dinarized Armenoids, some as Mediterranean, some as hybrid Aethiopid, etc. In the southern Arabian peninsula, such as Yemen, there are even black Arabs.

I have a sizeable amount of Berber DNA, which is common among Canary Islanders. When I said Moors, I meant the group of muslim people that invaded the Iberian peninsula from North Africa. It could be possible I have some from them, but the sizeable portion I have is proof that it came from the Guanches, besides, there are Guanche mtDNA haplogroup markers in my family. So again, my Berber ancestry seems to come from the Guanches of the Canary Islands.

I've seen him in tons of videos in the other channel he had. He deleted all his old videos. What I'm saying is his lower facial features are not COMMONLY found in Caucasians, and given his Amerindian ancestry it is far more likely these features are a result of his Amerindian ancestry rather than the plausible but highly uncommon facial feature overlap of which you speak. There's a reason why Craniometry is still very much alive, especially in the field of Forensic Anthropology.

My friend, you must understand that most of the Semitic roots that were in Iberia were expelled from the peninsula when the Moriscos and Jews were expelled. Yes, many Spaniards have some Semitic ancestry, but it is usually admixture and it's a minority of the population. According to DNA studies on the Iberian peninsula, only 11% of the population has Moorish ancestry and 20% of the Iberian population has Jewish ancestry. That leaves almost 70% that is not Semitic. That translates to most.

Arab and North African DNA have been found in other European populations like Germans, English, French, Austrian, etc. but they are very small percentages and are not found in the majority of the population. Same for Spain, Portugal and Italy. As there may be a slight increase in the percentage of Arab and North African DNA found in the population, they are not found in the majority of the population according to genetic studies on the Iberian and Italian peninsulas.

The reason for the low percentage of Moorish ancestry in Iberia is because of the Reconquista. The Christian armies of the north subsequently pushed the Moors out of Iberia, mainly to Morocco, especially to Fez. There were some that converted, but most of them were eventually expelled as well for practicing Islam in secrecy, But a few remained, and of those, most assimilated into the Gypsy group. The tiny few that remained, mixed into the larger Iberian population in certain areas.

"Doesn't 'Hispania'...include Portugal and Spain." TECHNICALLY, yes, BUT...at some point hundreds of years ago "Hispanos" started to be, for one reason or another, mostly attributed to the Spanish speaking people of the Iberian Peninsula, and so the Portuguese-speaking people were accordingly viewed as "Lusitanic" (from 'Lusitania') to tell them apart. This usage of the two words remains until today. People of Spanish heritage are "Hispanic", and people of Portuguese heritage are "Lusitanic".

Not false. You're probably not fully Alpine. You are probably a mix of Alpine and Nordic or Alpine and Mediterranean. I have not seen how you look, but the description of Alpine I just gave you is the classic description of Alpine. You can look it up. Now, even in areas were there are Alpines, there are Alpine mixtures. Like in France, which central France is Alpine, northern France is Alpine/Nordic and southern France is Alpine/Mediterranean. But some may lean more Alpine in looks or the other.

As I told Indiansuck7861, the "Castizo" category has been obsolete in practically all of Latin America for a century or so. What in Colonial times would've been a "Castizo" today would just be referred to as either 'Mestizo' or just plain 'White' (if the person has no Amerindian facial features).

Yes, but when the Vikings/Germanics invaded Britain, they pushed most of the Britons to the western fringes of England and Scotland and many Britons left and inhabited Wales. Most Welsh are descedants of the Britons. But there are still descendents of the Britons in England and Scotland as well as Ireland. It's been discovered lots of people in the British Isles have Scandinavian ancestry from the Vikings. Even the Germanics.

But if you did have any Moorish ancestry, it would be impossible to distinguish it from Canarian Guanche Berber ancestry in an autosomal test. It may be a little easier to distinghish it in a haplogroup test, but still even that could prove difficult. I'm sure you probably have some Canarian ancestry, as it was common in PR. You are probably a European dominant Afromestizo. Which means you are probably triracial mixed Euro, Afro, Amerind, but are European dominant. Many PR's are like this.

The word "Castizo" has been obsolete in most of Latin America for at least 100 years now. If you want to use it go ahead, but just be aware that it's been superseded by 'Mestizo' (or 'Cholo' in the Andean region of South America) and no longer used in the fashion as it used to during Colonial times, its racial connotation has been removed from the official dictionary meaning a long time ago and the general populace has withdrawn its use accordingly since then.
