My brother in law AB has had a rough time after he lost both his legs in an accident. He rebounded like a hero and now walks 10+ miles a day on his prosthetics(!!!), but the struggle is not a joke. When AB’s family came to visit from France, Bowie immediately bonded with him and basically wouldn’t leave AB’s side for the entire time they stayed with us. Bo sat at AB’s ‘feet’, he lay down outside the bathroom when AB was in it (he only does that for parents usually) and he generally acted like AB’s shadow. We’ve never seen him adopt someone like that! It really gave AB a boost to be treated that way and it shows why we choose Dobermans.

I grew up watching Zeus & Apollo keeping Tom Selleck on his toes in Magnum PI. There were obviously other dobes on tv, but their obedience, agility, visual presence & yet modest proportions are all endearing characteristics. We temporarily had a rescue dog as I was a teenager, although he wasn't accepted by all the family & as such didn't live with us for many months. The velcro aspect took some getting used to with our more recent European working line female & really created a strong bond with myself in particular. The lady in your video summed it up by saying it was 'a lifestyle choice', whereas most dogs don't necessarily require such attention to detail, with all benefiting from good training & socialization. Hope to have another when time comes. Not everyone wants a hairy monster like a German Shepherd or a manic Mallinios. Dobermann are more for the connoisseur who appreciates their specific challenges & daunting appearance.

I had two, i was babysitting grand kids one day the kids dropped off by their mom. The Doobie didn't see Mom drop them off. Then that afternoon when Mom came to pick up the grandkids, the Doobies stepped between Mom and kids and let her know she not touching these kids. It was hilarious. But they meet Mom and everyone was fine.

I was 5 years old when I first fell in love with the breed. While everyone else around me (friends, other kids in school) was falling in love with labs, goldens, poodles etc, I was falling in love with Dobermans. I’m 30 now, have had dogs all my life, but never one of these majestic creatures. I’ve done the research, talked to friends and family who used to own them (in a way, I kind of grew up with them, I guess?), I’ve also been watching your channel for years. I’m chronically ill and disabled among many other things and have been looking for the perfect service dog prospect for me personally ever since the beginning of 2018. I’ve decided to go with a Doberman. And hey, if it doesn’t work, I will at least still have my heart breed to keep me company for the next 10+ years, I’d rather try and make it work with a Doberman than any other breed. These dogs are simply magnificent, and I know I have what it takes to be able to raise and handle one, it’s the people around me that doubt me but I’m ready to prove them all wrong. Plus, as someone with cptsd, social anxiety and severe agoraphobia, I’ve a feeling that not many people are going to want to approach me if I’ve a dog like that by my side, which to me is a very big advantage. But for those who do end up wanting to approach, I’ll do my best to educate them on both service dogs and the breed itself. Excited and scared for the journey ahead, but I feel prepared. Thank you for such wonderful, educational and at times funny content. You’re one of the many reasons why I feel so confident in raising a well behaved Doberman.

Him and I have bonded. About to really get into more commands and socializing is going well and will continue. My parents bread and raised Dobermans when I was young and I've always wanted one. Now that our kids are teenagers it's a good time for us.

Dobermans are the BEST dog breed EVER!!! Their senses are literally amazing! My Lily will be 2 years old tomorrow (July 8th 2024) but I got her at a little over a year old, already house trained and already knew several commands, but I'm having difficulties getting her to walk on a leash beside me. She wants to run up ahead and I'm working on it and she has gotten a little better but still a ways to go. I'm sure all Dobie owners will say the same thing, "I'm unbelievably and undeniably in love with mine" she's amazing!!!! The sheer intelligence in this breed is mind blowing. Lily is my 2nd Doberman. My first was also an American female but was well over 40 years ago and I'm so happy to have another one! Lily is attached at the hip with me, as all Dobermans are, and I love that about this breed! I need to have her tested for DCM and other markers cuz she is a rescue and I want to know if she's prone to any of them but praying she isn't. Lately she's been panting quite a bit and it's got me concerned. No dog owner could possibly understand the bond between an owner and a Doberman unless they've had one!!! I've had many different breeds of dogs throughout my life but a Doberman is hands down the GOAT (Greatest of all time)!!! I love your channel and thank you! To all my fellow Dobie moms and dads, Thank you for loving a Dobie or 2 or 3 or 10!!! It's a huge commitment and soooooo worth it! ❤💜❤💜❤💜❤💜❤💜

The Doberman Pincher I believe to be one of the most misunderstood breeds out there. Example, on a walk out in the rural area of my town, I came across a "Ken" (Male Karen) walking his dog. The dirt path we were walking on was about 30-40 ft wide and I was on one side with my Doberman, and "Ken" was on the other side walking his dog that seemed to be some kind of mid sized terrier type dog. He saw us walking towards him, he turns around, and begins to walk the other direction. Then he stops turns and begins to yell at me to why we are following him and begins to record a video of us on his cell phone. I asked him if he was ok, we just wanted to pass to go home and to say Hi, he began to yell at me that my Doberman is a vicious dog and get the hell away from him and his dog and if my dog does anything he's going to sue me and my dog is just chilling next to me. So I said, sorry to have bothered you and we just kept walking. People think Dobermans are some savage breed that kills spontaneously or something. I know Doberman's can be pretty hard core, but they are taught to be that way, most Doberman's I have come across are kind and gentle. Just blows my mind to see another dog owner act in such a manner when there was TONS of space and the dogs were like 40 feet away from each other. Crazy.

My parents owned several dog breeds growing up. Famous words of my parents "shut the door, the dog will get out" who left the gate opened? " forever spending much of my childhood chasing the family dog back home. As a young adult, I owned a Husky. It ran from me all the time. My husband always wanted a Doberman. I'd always disagree with fearing for the children's safety. One day, I encountered a few drunken men while walking alone at night. I decided it was time to get another dog. One that would protect me on my evening walks. I researched the doberman and learned they were great with family. I bought myself my first European Dobie. I quickly learned their true nature and their devotion to their family. That dog would bear the storm and protect my babies at all cost. Always at our side. They never leave your side regardless if you forget to close the door or gate. Hell you don't even get privacy to go to the bathroom alone half the time. Needless to say, most people would not attempt to go near me while walking at night with my Doberman and those who did (if I was scared) most definitely were introduced to the strength & power of a fearless Doberman. He never bit anyone but sure knew how to give a stern warning as they approached. It's been 5 years since his passing and we recently got another now 9 weeks old. Extremely smart. He's learned to Sit, Paw. Spin, Lay down, and sit handsome with 2 paws all in the first week. Magnificent Breed and the only breed I'll own for the rest of my days.

Crazy how many people name their dobermans after Magnum PI. I don’t have one, but that show is what got me interested in them, plus I remember how so popular they were in the early 80s until Rottweilers took over.

I think one of the reasons that they were more popular many decades ago was because of the television show Magnum pi. As a result of that show so many people are still naming their dogs Apollo and Zeus. As the show went away, so did the popularity of the doberman. I think the Doberman is now making a comeback based on its own merits instead of a television show.

I have had 2 Dobermans. There loyal smart very easy to train and very proactive. Because I have seizures (WITH NO TRAINIG AT ALL) The second Doberman I had he would bark get me over to the bed even before I realized I had problems and then he would lay on top of me to keep my from hurting my self. Sadly right now I am in an apartment that will not allow big dogs but I love them and in time when I can I intend to get one. I also love Great Dane so been thinking of getting a Doberdane to have a best of both worlds.

I have kids in this day and age. My Dobie doesn’t need to be trained in protection, I don’t need to worry about her accident my biting anyone. People see my toddler holding her leash and immediately back off. No one’s gonna mess with my family when they see her and that layer of protection, not to mention how much of a beautiful addition she is to our family. Oh I love Dobermans

exactly I have a presa canario x GSD, she's really cute and goofy looking with one ear up and the other dangling to the side, but people are still terrified of her 😭 some people love her and want to say hi but she ignores them, she's friendly just presa canarios are funny with strangers. I took her into a shop the other day (one that I've gone to for years and usually I have my lab with me as my assistance dog but I know they do allow dogs anyway as long as it behaves.) and this guy was in there who kinda waited in the corner, he said hi and was smiling but he didn't move then I went to pay the guy told me he'd been waiting in the corner cuz he didn't know I'd my dog was friendly, then telling me he has a little cockapoo and couldn't believe he was seeing a female with 'such a serious dog' 🤣 including my own I know 4 presas or presa crosses, 2 owned by guys 2 owned by females, the only one that has no control over his dogs is one of the guys 😂 and he's at least 6 foot tall and really strong, but completely lacks control. I had to grab his dog the other day, I held her collar until he came to get her, she was calm for me, but mental for him 🤣 I told the guy in the shop my dog was friendly and that I wouldn't have taken her inside if she posed a threat to anyone. he relaxed a bit but still kept his distance. but hey, I'd keep my distance if someone took a little spider in a shop, in fact, I'd run out the door screaming like a baby 😂

Love Dobermans because there attentive to me/owner n yet are great family pet's. Have a solid/melanistic white/cream Dobie with light blue eye's! Love being different & found out about the white & had to have one! Am stilll torn between white or original blk n rust, but blk n rust are band 😢 from a lot of places, so with my white she goes EVERYWHERE!! They are just sharp looking & there power/strength, but still control. They want to be with you - velcro - Love that! They're smart, Loyal 11:40 & eager to please. They on alert & let ya know if something is coming. There natural Instinct to protect, BUT yet ate such Lover's & goof ball!

Hello John! I grew up in Napa and went to SSU. In the 1970s there were a LOT of Doberman around the area, mostly let loose in retail and commercial properties, and I was afraid of them. I am not sure why my attitude changed recently. I have a five-year-old vizsla and they are velcro dogs, too. I now live in WA logging area and take her to run off leash in the "forest," her favorite word. She goes everywhere with me, however today was much too hot to take her on my errands and sit in the car. I left at 8:30 am and returned at 7:30 pm, and her steak was untouched, as was her water. As well, my knee has been bothering me, and it is difficult to take her for the five-mile walks (25 for her) that we did two years ago. (I'm probably going to pay out of pocket for a new knee.) I started considering adopting an old dog to keep her grounded on days that are too cold or hot for her to sit in the truck, but with her not getting enough exercise due to my knee problem, I am considering a Doberman, for all the reasons people mention. HOWEVER, I travel frequently, and find that many motels are not allowing dogs over 50#, I assume in order to restrict pitties. I just say she's 50# even though she's about 60" (tall for her breed). Do you or anybody else here have any experience with moteling with Doberman dogs?

I live in Argentina and I grew up in the 80s watching the dogs Zeus and Apollo on Magnum PI and loved seeing those dobermans. Over the years, I had several dogs, including a fabulous weimaraner, but two years ago I remembered my old love for doberman dogs and decided to have one for the first time. Max is my first doberman, who will turn 2 years old in a few days. He is a majestic dog, black and tan with natural ears and he is very affectionate, although he generates fear in strangers. We love him very much.

Brains, brawn and beauty. Doberman's are one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. Dobermans are powerful, fast and protective. And, Doberman's are extremely beautiful, their silhouette is the most recognizable silhouette in the entire dog world. They are the only dog breed that was bred from the beginning to be a personal protection dog. A well bred Doberman is one of the best, and most capable dogs in the world.

@@DobermanPlanet I have been looking at the website for the Doberman Rescue of North Texas but I’m not sure they will adopt to someone who is so far away. I’m in west Texas, about 5.5-6 hours away from them and they are the closest to me. I have looked into the local shelters and they have plenty of dogs but no Dobies. As a matter of fact, I got my first Doberman from one of the local shelters about 30 years ago.

Crazy I just made a Doberman video but I wanted to use a few seconds from your Doberman color chart if possible. My dad was the best attack dog trainer in Lehigh Valley in the 70s and 80s. We had many breeds of dogs but a female Doberman pincher is the best gaurd dog family dog we have ever had. She saved my life and a few other people. My community 35 years after she passed away still talks about her. So I am asking if I can barrow a few seconds from you video. I will not show you are your children only the dog. I also had a blue Doberman in early 80s . But I never seen a white Doberman before. Great dogs. Peace.

i feel such a kinship to all other doberman owners; there could be a very mean looking guy dressed like a cat burglar with a big gun and if i saw he had a doberman i would immediately trust him and not be scared at all, just excited to meet his furbaby. i have owned 12 over the years, and before dobermans i had irish setters and i never felt any kinship or any connection to other irish setter owners. and the setters have such different personalities and traits that it is really a crap shoot as to what kind of dog you are going to get, half of the setters i owned were just be pains and i had to rehome them. with dobermans you know you are going to get a velcro dog that loves you like you have never been loved before, i have never had one that got car sick, or bark for no reason, they are all loyal, protective and fun to play with. i will never own another breed, they are definitely the best!

I think Dobermans are the sweetest dogs of all breeds. It’s so weird that they are thought of as mean dogs. They are only mean if they are abused or trained to be that way. By nature they are the most loving dogs that I have ever been around. Other dogs may also be sweet, but Dobermans seem to want to be with you and hang out with you more than other breeds do. IMO

So what makes Doberman s different than any other breed out there is for one. They're only dog, specifically bred for human protection and what makes them the best at that is their intuition. It is off the charts. I don't know how you measure that but my dog knew stuff that I never taught him. I would almost think it or do a movement and he would do exactly what I wanted him to do without training him or explaining what I wanted. Necessarily he would know whether I was getting up and going to work or if I had the day off and I would do the same routine every morning that I still don't know how he knew cuz sometimes I had to work Saturday and it didn't matter he knew. I truly believe if everyone had a Doberman at some point in their life the world would be a far better place. Not only would the Doberman make you a better person, but that thing that you share with everyone that you all had a Doberman one time is something that is a bond people have and makes you think different about the person

I grew up with an oldschool doberman who went off to a trainer and came back as a highly trained dog. Here in my adult life (now I get to make the rules) I have another doberman. Technically he's my moms, we bought a house together, and she promised that he was going to go to training classes but.. of course he's not because that would require effort in her part. I'm not the loaded one in the family and I desperately want to get this dog trained.. PLEASE PLEASE Tell me what I can do at home with him. I'm pretty much the only one he listens to because I do make sure he covers the basics like "Down", "Stay", "Wait", "Sit". But I don't want to bore him! I can't take him to parks or anything because I get the "My fabulous dog will NOT be around that riff raff!" Even if it's not a dog park.. So I just have my big back yard to work with..

So when I was looking for a dog I wanted a dog that was going to be able to give me a second if an intrude was in the house where they were going to have to focus on the dog and that's all I need is a second and same. If I'm not home they r going to have to focus on the dog so my family can get away. Obviously he was much more than that to me I call him my soulmate. But the reason I went with the Doberman many breeds will protect until they physically can't. The Doberman was the only one that if someone was in your house and they ran out they would chase him off the property and then come right back to the family in case there's another threat. No other breed that I see did that, but what makes, the best breed Doberman completely different is their intuition to me that is off The charts it makes them unlike any other breed. There's a lot of breeds that can do a lot of stuff. The Doberman can but the intuition is just unreal. There's stuff that he did that I never taught him and he just knew to do when I wanted him to do something without training him at all and that is still mind-blowing to me . And he made me not want any other dog breeds only Dobermans. That's all I care about is Doberman. I got mine when he was five. He made it to 15 and 1/2 the last 2 and 1/2 years. He was dealing with degenerative myopathy he stayed on a strict diet. Well hydrated a lot of love walks and mental stimulation. I would hide treats with one of the games we'd play and he would always try to find it with just his eyes. And about the 2 or 3 minute Mark is when he'd put his nose up in the air sniff for it and go right to where it was. It's like you didn't want to cheat me. It's like he was doing it for me cuz he could have found it right away every single time cuz like I said the second that nose went up in the air and he went right to it. I didn't ever spend more than 12 hours away from him since I got him and that last year he couldn't control his bowels so I hardly got any sleep. But he was such an amazing dog. He was worth it. He ended up dying on Christmas Eve.im so happy I I was there for him when it happened . He had a heart attack I believe. Like I said he was my soulmate. I have no doubt about that. He's a wonderful dog and it is an amazing breed. Thank you Mr. Doberman, you nailed it. Couldn't think of a better breed than the Doberman
