Doberman planet you think you can do an updated video of foods for the Doberman community. Unless nothing has changed and purina pro plan is still the way to go. Thanks love the content!

I’ve had dogs all my life, since I was 2. Many breeds. But there is no breed like a Doberman. They are special and the only breed I will have. My Doberman is sleeping by my side as I type this. They are the smartest, most loyal, dependable dog I know. Definitely part of the family.

dont get a dobermann...my friend had his grand daughter visiting (7) and the dog bite her head (skull) and didnt let go...horror She got away with few stiches less hair and a trauma....The dog was "normal" until that moment...

Love this information. . So I'm just now watching this video but thank goodness we were doing all the right things . Both myself and my son took turns getting up with out Doberman puppy throughout the nights that followed bringing him home. We had a crate, and every time after his nap, we took him straout to potty. He's now 3 months old and let's us know when he needs to potty. He knows how to shake, sit, down, and come, and is learning to walk on leash. We're working on stay it's a little harder because being so young he gets excited... We couldn't be happier with our baby. If your willing to put in the time you'll have a amazing dog. It's all about being on a schedule and giving your puppy plenty of toys to chew on. ❤

I have fostered or saved 12 Dobermans over the past 20 years. 4 of them became our family dogs. I never paid anything except an occasional pound or Rescue fee. They have all been magnificent ambassadors for the breed. I lost 2 of my own to DCM. My first rescue Kabahr lived to be 14 years old, the last two that passed Chesty and Max (2 weeks ago) passed from DCM. It’s heartbreaking to lose them- but the happiness, loyalty, and joy they bring when they are with us, rivals everything else.

I really think it has to do with individually. Pups from the same exact litter all have different personalities. My Lucy gets to go hang out with all her direct siblings every once in awhile and even though they are German Shepherds they are all so different. I'll bet some of Arlo's siblings are similar to Cooper as some of Coopers siblings are similar to Arlo. It's the reason why there are dominant pups in a litter and runts. Personalities on a deeper genetic level.

Excellent Channel!! Having been a Doberman-only owner for many decades, I can relate to so much of your advice and observations. Like you, I believe they are THE most perfect canine companion, but certainly not a breed for everyone. Thank you for the wonderful tips and enthusiasm. I had noticed a few of your videos, but never really took the time to watch or dig deeper. Now that I have, I'm damn impressed. THANK YOU for your time and efforts and dedication to this breed. My current 5 year old female has become terribly reactionary to other dogs. But I'm to blame since I watched it happening but had been too lazy/busy to deal with it. Now it has become a serious issue. When this video popped up, I thought "What the hell- let's see if he can provide some energy and maybe some new techniques". Thanks to you, I have become focused again to work with my otherwise well mannered Dobie. She's a rescue, and it's been a challenge from the beginning. She was fine with other dogs when younger- but VERY reactionary to human strangers. I spent so much effort fixing that, that I missed the aggression shift to other dogs. She's fine with people now and slowly warming up to other dogs over the past week now that I'm working with her again. Daily CONSISTENCY is the key, that, and end every training session on a positive note. Just a sidebar- what got her into this dog aggression, was the neighbors walking their dogs in the neighborhood. While it's nice to see people out walking their pets, but they tend to stop in front of my house, which naturally has dog scent, and let their dogs do their business! My dogs see this from the window and you can guess how this ramps up! I've tried speaking with them, but I get the usual: Well, if your dog wasn't so aggressive... etc. Yep- always MY dog and MY fault... yet twice now their little yapper dog has bit my shoe/pants leg while I'm speaking calmly to them. Oh well, I've been around enough dogs (and reactionary owners) that I just brush this off and remain calm. To make matters worse, since they know my dogs name- they actually yell it when my dogs bark. Argh!! Whatever happened to common sense?! Anyhow- thanks for your videos, you have help to renew the effort/enthusiasm on my part. You reminded me that I'm not alone and simply need to refocus on my best, most loyal friend. JDH (US191)

I disagree with this. I had both males and females. All of my Dobies followed me everywhere. But my males were better at protectiveness. My females would back down a little at a stranger, my males would stand in front of me. My one male that I got at 2 years old was growling at strangers within 12 hours of being at my home. He backed down a man on drugs that was yelling and cussing at me, and when a man tried to break into my yard one night he ran from the gate to stand in front of me when I came outside, the female stayed at the gate. One night my 2 females allowed someone to come into my yard and steal items. All my Dobies have been loving but my males have always watched over me the best.

Hi! Don't know if you will see this comment, but I wanted to address how your videos about hacks are almost always about younger puppies (ages maybe around 3-12 months old) and I am a first-time Dobie owner who came to this account after getting mine. He was 2 years old when I got him, and I had little time to decide if I should adopt him since he was about to be given up to a shelter because his previous owners didn't realize the responsibility. And when I started researching all the stuff I needed to know, I found you. Some things in your videos have really helped me! But I have seen a lot of missed opportunities just talking about stuff to help puppy Dobies only and not older ones. I really think it would be helpful to lots if you know some hacks for older dogs and would make a video on it. Of course, no hate!

Good point- I'm new watcher, but long time owner. What he says for puppies will most likely work on older dogs too. They are very smart, but MUST have consistent, logical input.. and they love getting this input! For a good take away on his channel, consider learning from all these videos how to THINK like a Doberman. That is his gift to us: teaching us to understand how your dog thinks and what it wants/needs to improve. Your dog probably has some self-confidence issues, so start boosting those. Learning new things and getting praise helps. Be consistent, daily. End all sessions on a happy/confident note, not a scared/frightened one. And THANK YOU for saving your dog from the shelter!

Good video. I’ve had them since the 70’s. I’ve always had black and rust because of health issues that can go with having diluted colors. Back in the day I don’t remember even seeing reds and definitely not the others. Something you don’t bring up is eye color. Darker colored eyes, almost black, used to be the standard and indicated less dilution. I’ve had American, Euro, male, female, working, show, AKC pup and rescues and I think you’ve pretty much nailed that. The only thing I’d add is that the working dogs or Euros are really fearless. They are not as likely to be concerned with lightning, loud noises or fireworks. I’m an older adult. When I am needing another dog, I’ll likely get a rescue dog, female, American or Euro because I’ll get to meet them first and know what I’m getting. Females seem to be slightly more calm and the females we’ve had are definitely more attached to one person. Our large, intact, euro male can be trusted with all kids and even though he’s intact, he gets along with almost all dogs. Definitely more playful and has tons of energy. That said, we live in a farm so they all get tons of exercise. Just want to add that Dobermans didn’t used to have all the health issues they do today. I’ve been lucky, so far, and no Doberman related health issues. It may be their color plays a role, or exercise, or diet. And maybe just luck. Thanks for all the videos!

What I never get is, people have such a problem cropping dogs ears but have no problem with the idea of cutting a dogs BALLS OFF. I know if the dog had a choice which one he would prefer to keep 😅

Got my first Doberman. He's had free roam about a month now. We'll free roam downstairs and to the backyard. He's doing great. No accidents or destruction yet. I work 12 to 16 hour days sometimes. I do have family or friends come by for an hour in the afternoons just to ease his boredom. But he does amazing. He'll be 6 months in a couple of days

The main reason I didn't think about getting a dog is because of my allergies. I never have issues with animals that don't shed a lot, so knowing that dobermans don't shed a lot makes me so happy. and convinced me to get one at some point.
