12’s war speech kills me Partially because we are led to believe that after everything 10 went through and 11’s acceptance and ‘moving on’ from the Time War, that the Doctor has gotten over things and truly moved passed them. eg. 11 forgetting just how many children they killed that day. Then Peter reminds us (with phenomenal acting) that no matter how much the Doctor moves on, he can never truly forget and the weight of that day will always be on him.

I know! This is my favorite scene in the entire show. So much emotion. I really wish we saw this side of the Doctor more. The side that's hurting. The side that he hides from everyone, even his closest friends. Even himself. The part of the doctor who is tired of seeing the same thing over and over with every planet and with every creature. It's his lowest point but it also makes him who he is and what he does. Phenomenal story writing.

Not just that day, but fighting on the front lines. Even with galifrey being back, the doctor committed atrocities in the war.
@bdletoast098 ай бұрын
The thing is, the Day of the Doctor's conclusion reveals that, contrary to what he thought, the Doctor didn't commit a genocide on his own species. But that doesn't erase the entirety of the war. The Time War went for centuries in all kind of different places and times, and the Doctor was all over it once Eight stopped fleeing it. The Battle of Skull Moon that caused Cass to hate the Time Lords so much? The War Doctor was there, leading troups. Yes, thanks to The Moment, the most horrifying act of violence the Doctor commited never came to be, but he still made a lot of terrible things during his time as the War Doctor.
@michaelkean59696 ай бұрын
