The Dodge Hornet Surprised BOTH of Us! // 2024 Dodge Hornet GT REVIEW!

The 2024 Dodge Hornet isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think about buying a smallish SUV. In a crowded field, the Dodge Hornet can get lost among the Honda HR-V and CR-V models, the Toyota RAV4 and Corolla Cross, and the similarly sized Mazda CX-5. Part of this is due to the fact that the Dodge Hornet is a bit of an in-between size and shape: not quite as large as the Toyota RAV4 but bigger than the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-30. This put the 2024 Dodge Hornet in a bit of a pickle. It's large enough to be practical as a second vehicle or as a teen driver's first car, but it's too small for our tallish family to use regularly or on short road trips. It's fun to drive like the Mazda CX-30, but like the CX-30 it can get expensive quick once you start piling on the options. Where the Dodge Hornet shines is in this base GT trim. The Dodge Hornet comes with a number of premium standard features as well as a reasonably powerful engine, it looks pretty nice inside and out, and it drives with a bit of that Alfa Romeo DNA (since it's an Alfa Romeo Tonale underneath). What this means is that at the lower end of the pricing spectrum the Dodge Hornet feels like more than the sum of its parts. We were certainly surprised. As someone who is a small-medium crossover SUV fan (no kids, rarely ever have more than 1 person in my vehicle), you kinda sold me on this as an option. . It's ashame I haven't heard great things about Dodge reliability.

They seem to be their own worst enemy at this point. The Dodge Hornet as a TON of potential. I've got the brand new Hyundai Kona in the driveway this week, which is full of value as you'd expect for the EXACT same price, and the Dodge Hornet is better to drive, has a more stylish interior, and has 100 lb/ft more torque... but the Kona will probably be more reliable on a MUCH better warranty. And people actually know what a Hyundai Kona is, but most of those same people would be unfamiliar with the Dodge Hornet.

@@jax1079 Have a racing red Kona N myself it's been a fun car so far. Dont, know why Dodge called the Hornet R/T what is road and track about it At least the Kona was designed for track use, and if it breaks at the track it is covered under the Warranty.

@@cindysue5474 Very true. Looking forward to seeing what lunacy Hyundai cooks up for the next version. We were told at the new Kona launch that it wasn't out of the question...

I actually found the Hornet drives just slightly harder than our Jeep Renegade Now the power with the 2.0l T is significantly better than the 2.4l 180hp that our Renegade has !!!!! The biggest issue to me with the Hornet is the price point pushing darn near @40k, whereas we paid $18k in 2018 for our Renegade brand new. Dodge's problem is their lack of advertising, they promote it strong for about a month then just forget about it unless it is their Halo cars.

lol.... Takes you half a minute to find the time. Nice review on a good little car. But you really gotta bargain hard with the dealer to get a decent price.
