The Dodos UK music now available for streaming and download on Bandcamp! thedodosuk.bandcamp.com/
A song written by Joseph Lemmon with Samuel McHaclameny taking lead vocal. Joseph was a big fan of the American pop group, The Byrds, and it is evident in this song from 1966. It went both ways though, with Jim McGuinn having said one of the inspirations for the name the Byrds was actually because they loved the Dodos so much.
A very distinctive bassline in this one, and people always comment on how they love when Samuel whispers "I Love You". A great pop song, for sure!
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Well ya know it's Time to wake
like so many days
get outside
and feel the rays
of the sunshine
Well I have to Go to work
I count down the time
now we're done
time to see you
feeling divine
[Pre-chorus 1]
Well there are
at least A few paths
like the clouds high above
that will lead me
Straight to you
[Chorus]
And look at me
I got
Five ways till love
Don't you know
That in my mind
I can conceive of
Five ways till love
I love you
OOOh!
[Verse 2]
Well ya know my heart is set
let me count the ways
clear my head
and feel the rays
of the sunshine
Well I haven't got a clue
how to spend my time
on the run
time to see you
feeling divine
[pre-chorus 2]
Well there are
at least A few choices
like birds so high above
that will lead me
straight to you
[Chorus]
And look at me
I got
Five ways till love
Don't you know
That in my mind
I can conceive of
Five ways till love
I love you
OOOh!
