Once watched the first film 5 times in one day. I have no idea why but 13 year old me just thought it totally slapped. I can still quote most of the film. Years later I played the games and saw the discourse and understood it but to me, the film will always be kinda gnarly. Not planning on rewatching it though just in case lmao.

For a very long time Hollywood had this really annoying obsession with taking the fun out of whatever it was they were adapting and make it as "realistic" as possible. Something that could be easily explained, even if it ended up sounding dumber than the original source material.

Didn't even know about Doom: Annihilation... I see why.

First Doom movie was definitely more akin to the Resident Evil franchise, and is honestly better than most of them. From what is essentially zombies to the mutated forms they take on in the later stages of infection, it just screams Resident Evil. Doom Annihilation was just plain bad, and I'm pretty sure her name is supposed to be a reference to Joan d'Arc.

Joan Dark isn't a half-assed attempt at referencing Perfect Dark.... It's a half-assed attempt at referencing Joan of Arc.

I like both of these awful movies.

I've seen Doom and agree there are parts that are ok but it isn't a good movie, I've heard of the sequel but never seen it because everything I'd heard was that it is trash.

I even saw the first one in the theater and spent money on this crap. Years later I gave it another chance and it you know what, it still a piece of crap. The second I watched on the small screen and it's no better then the first. You wonder who in Hollywood' writes this crap 1st graders.
