Hi Larry. This album was the first time I heard them. I was in elementary school and in one class on Friday's kids would bring an album to class and our teacher would play it. This was a few years before I got into music in a big way. I do remember that I enjoyed it and thought "Wow this is really interesting". Strangely enough the song that stuck in my head that day was "Horse Latitudes". It's not even a song really, more a short bit of spoken poetry. It was so weird and unusual that it just grabbed my ears and attention. I just re-listened to the album earlier tonight on the Doors youtube channel that has all their albums. It's very interesting that all the songs are well under 4 minutes except for the last one. I think that's why it flows so well as the songs are so good and so short you can't lose interest. My least favorite is "When the Music's over". It's a good song, but I prefer "The End" much more as an album closer. When Jim sings about the scream of the Butterfly I cringe as it sounds like goofy 60's lyrics, when he's usually profound and powerful. Just my personal taste of course. I'd have a hard time ranking the first two as they are both great.

My Eyes Have Seen You, I Can't See Your Face in My Mind, and When the Music's Over are my 3 favorites..... though the whole album is brilliant . And Strange Days album cover and back is in my top ten for greatest album covers

When the Musics Over is probably my favourite Doors song.I don't think they released a studio album with Morrison that wasn't top notch.I can't think of any other band who did that.The two albums they released after Morrison were average yet I always loved'The mosquito' from the album Full Circle which sounds more like early prog rock.

I agree with all you said, but I'd rate Strange Days even higher than the debut album. But I like The End better than When the Music's Over. Music's Over is more psychedelic, whereas The End is more mystical and ethereal.

This is the Doors album I have played the most.👍And I think it might be their best one...

I wish I'd seen The Doors live.

I think "Strange Days" has just a slight overall drop after "The Doors" debut. The production is better on here, but I think the songs are a tad better on the first album. This album still ranks in my Top 100 Albums of all-time, but not my Top 25. Still, a very good album. I give this an "A". My third favorite Doors album. And yes, Jim Morrison was a great singer, despite his vocal limitations. A lot of people compare him to Frank Sinatra, and I "get" that. Especially, on The Doors' ballads.

A very good album overall but it's probably my 3rd favorite by The Doors after their debut and L.A. Woman. You mentioned how Jim Morrison is underrated as a singer and you're definitely right about that.

Strange Days is my favorite Doors album too. But I've had trouble getting into their later albums. Maybe some day they'll click with me. What a crazy great year in music 1967 was. Another contender for greatest debut album was Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced from 1967 too.

This is probably my favourite Doors album. When The Music's Over is way better than The End in my humble opinion. I also like My Eyes Have Seen You.

Great album and difficult to say which is better of the first two. I would say that in the pre-Internet world that Strange Days was considered their best album but the consensus has never been clear. My favourites songs are Strange Days and My Eyes Have Seen You. On the new version the effect on Jim Morrison’s voice on the song Strange Days is too much and the bass guitar is less prominent. However, John Densmore’s drums and Robbie Krieger’s guitar sound very crisp, especially on Love Me Two Times. My least favourite song is Unhappy Girl. Cheers

Some people sleep on this because there’s not as many of the well known songs as the debut, but it’s just as incredible if not more so. It’s tough to decide between the two albums, but I think Strange Days might win by just a little bit.

Also how are you getting Plastic Ono Band early ?

I think that Strange Days is better than the debut , and When the Music’s Over outclasses The End . Although my favourite would be Morrison Hotel , with Strange Days at number three ( behind LA Woman ). Really , all of their studio albums are great .

Larry your singing is beyond terrible but I love your weird humour
