In this foreshortened alcove of a dive is where The Doors DEVELOPED their singing, performing and stage presence as the house band from February to May 1966. More so; in this space is where the shy, fledgling Jim came out of his shy, hesitating, and awkward stage persona to become the dancing feral shaman TROUBADOUR!!! And it didn't hurt to meet the very lovely PAM here too...

What a shame everything looks like everywhere else in this digital/corporate age. No one cared to preserve the character of anyplace where great music was born. At least we still have The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ- but we had to fight to keep it there. "The Trip" is definitely worth seeing, especially for the old footage of The Strip.

Great video for Doors fans. Kinda sad how boring and sedate "The London Fog" area looks today. I didn't see any Jim Morrison types walking around, that's for sure. Amazing how much things can change in 50 years.

Thanks for this, I probably wouldn't get a chance to see these places if not for clips like yours.

To the right of the London Fog was another club called The Galaxy where big bands like Iron Butterfly also played.

Wish they would put up historical markers on the buildings to document where the clubs were. They do some of that in London.

Amazing how close those two clubs were, yet doesn't sound like much business drifted downstream from the Whiskey.

think of all the other bands that didn't get that chance in the 60s/70s...i'm sure we missed tons of other Jim Morrison even tho there can only be one.

The epicenter of the Sunset riot was at Crescent Heights and Sunset; about 2 miles east of the London Fog. That is where Pandora's Box was; and that's where it started.

The Sunset Strip riots were based around the club, Pandoras Box, which was near Laurel Canyon and Sunset (Crescent Heights was the actual street)--it had very little to do with Clark St. Although you may want to ask one of the Byrds if he got his name from that street...haha.

I think it's ironic that it became a Cosmo salon cause the early glam bands played here including the doors seeds the first real hair band and others.cool

The Sunset Strip riots were because of a curfew and the closing down of the club Pandora's Box at the intersection of Sunset and Crescent Heights, NOT at Clark and Sunset.
