It’s a great soundtrack for driving in L.A. about 10 at night. My favorite is The Passenger by Iggy Pop. There’s an amazing video of a very young Iggy and the Stooges performing it, and Iggy is just so damn high. His pupils are dilated to pinpoints, and his feelings play across his face and he’s just crazy Iggy, but beautiful, not the haggard skinny old man we know today. The reason I said 10 at night is because during rush hour, this song will be over before you’ve traveled 200 yards.

@@Ozarkprepper643 another part of this is technology now a days also makes creating music less organic. many times there is someone on a metronome or they are not even in the same room and have to sync up unnaturally. the best example is jimi hendrix, he was constantly speeding up and slowing down and the band had to listen and play with it and it produces a signature funk between that group. It is pretty much impossible that you will get something new that is organic that the radio or record companies would want. Animal Collective is an example but they are weird for a lot of people, but you can watch them sync up live or studio.

If he would have escaped that bathtub in Paris he still wouldn't be with us. He was dancing with death for a while. The axiom 300:8:1 comes into play here. Ah, doin’ the Doors! With them, you have to see live performances to witness the charisma and magnetism of their frontman and poet, Jim Morrison. The lyrics are important, too, so bring them up on your phone, separately. Their live performance of “Light My Fire” on the otherwise stuffy Ed Sullivan show was legendary. It shocked parents and turned teenage girls on with his smooth baritone and raw sex appeal: "Light My Fire" was performed live by the Doors on The Ed Sullivan Show broadcast on September 17, 1967. The Doors were asked by producer Bob Precht, Sullivan's son-in-law, to change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher", as the sponsors were uncomfortable with the possible reference to drugs. However, the meaning of the line was confirmed to be literal, as in "high in the sky".[12][13] The band agreed to do so, and did a rehearsal using the amended lyrics, "girl, we couldn't get much better"; however, during the live performance, the band's lead singer Jim Morrison sang the original, unaltered lyrics.[12] Ed Sullivan did not shake Jim Morrison's hand as he left the stage. The band had been negotiating a multi-episode deal with the producers; however, after violating the agreement not to perform the offending line, they were informed they would never do the Sullivan show again. Morrison's response was "Hey man. We just did the Sullivan show."

Jim Morrison identifies as a poet first and a singer second. Please do “Light My Fire”
@justinestes64004 жыл бұрын
Sorry to be that guy...but their amazing guitarist Robby Krieger wrote the majority of Light My Fire. Still, please, I want him to react to as many Doors songs as possible!! Have a great day, and "Break on through to the other side!!"

Ray manzarek actually wrote most of "light my fire". He was truly going for something complicated and absolutely accomplished that.
@MrOuchiez4 жыл бұрын
@@kevingruenofficial - Ray mainly just wrote the solo, guitarist Robby Krieger wrote the majority of the melody and lyrics to Light My Fire.

@@MrOuchiez my information comes from a documentary with ray manzarek who said he wrote it. I'm sure they all took a big part but just listen to the keyboard. You cant tell me that isnt crazy even the rhythm playing is complicated to the max.

@@kevingruenofficial - Hmm, quite interesting... I must admit it's been quite a few years since my last jaunt down the Doors' rabbit hole, and I'm almost certain there's newer documentaries and biographies to pore over. Thanks for reigniting the flame, I look forward to (hopefully) finding the doc you mentioned to glean yet another and even deeper layer of knowledge about one of the greatest American Rock bands of all time. Might you be able to steer me in the right direction in regards to the doc in which you cite? Cheers!

One of their big hits early on was Touch Me. It was just over three minutes, went to Number 1 in the US in 1969 and really showed how good Morrison's voice really was. Some have even said it had a tinge of Prog Rock. As much as I love all the Doors stuff, this one has always been my favorite.

One of the greatest driving tunes ever written. The Doors are nothing short of legendary and my pick for band of the 60's, pure magic! I thought this band couldn't get any better then they get Elvis' bass player to smash out a beast of a rolling b-line!

Wow, man I loved your reaction. You explained the musician's instruments and the guitar answering the lyrics back and forth! The Doors captured the truth and the feel of LA in 1970, and that same truth and feel applies to LA today! LA Woman was recorded in 1970, and released in 1971. You nailed it! You're right, Mr. Mojo Risin' was Jim Morrison's alter ego. As the story goes, when Jim Morrison was a boy, his family came across a fatal accident involving a bus full of Native American Indians. He said that it was a really bad accident scene with a lot of bodies so badly injured, still laying in the road and on the side of the road as his family drove by. He said he saw some of them look right at him!! He couldn't look away and then he said he saw their souls leaving their bodies. Jim said that one of them entered his body!! He felt him inside his mind as a little boy. He said that man would come out sometimes, and when he got older, that man became his alter ego! Remember, the country was at war in Vietnam. The teens and 20 somethings were doing drugs. Everyone was fascinated by drugs. I might have only been a kid, but growing up in a big family in the city, I watched it all happen. The Doors were playing on every radio on every street corner as we all watched the teen boys being marched off to war. The average U.S. soldier was a 19-year-old man from a poor or working-class family and they were drafted. The draft didn't end until 1973. This amazing one of a kind song brings back my childhood days. Every teen and 20 something , even, kids were mesmerized by the Doors. I still listen to it when I want to feel young and wild. THANK YOU for your appreciation of this counter culture song . You're right again, it really is three songs in one!! You made it feel brand new! Gotta' keep on risin'! Risin, risin!! Yea!
