I subscribed for the long videos. I am a geography freak, but most people are not. People have short attention spans and that's what shorts, reels and tiktoks thrive on. Algorithms have changed, trends have changed. Sadly, I think your old formats are more suitable for short videos nowadays. Looking at other channels, longer videos tend to be more popular when they are more in depth nowadays. I don't have the answers to your troubles, but I know you can do this, even if you have to completely think out of the box! Stay strong, give your ears some rest and hopefully they will heal a little bit again with time.

I ways found it annoying that shorts don’t link back to the original video. I think that’s a feature that would help creators. It sucks when a shorts clip of a video gets me intrigued but then I have to go out of my way to find the original video and sometimes I just can’t find it. Since you´r hearting new comments I hope you see mine. Last year February was my lowest point in my life. Had giving up on my dreams, ambitions and life itself. All i wanted was to end my life. Just jump in front of a moving truck. Was in a 2 year relationship before that but come december 2022, she cheated on me. So I dropped everything. Just stayed home all day. I live alone. Talked to nobody. Just text and video calls with my parents. One day just scrolling I saw one of your shorts. See you talking and asking people name the flag, changing language, made me for some unknown reason smile again. So I started picking up on my Portuguese and Spanish again. I speak Dutch, English, Chinese, Hindi and French. So i took all serious again. Started learning again. Reading again. Gain my confidence back. Started working out again. Eating healthy again. That next month [March] I took a job as waiter, started talking to people again. Fast forward to October last year. I have my own business. Just bought my parents a new house. Best shape of my life. Fast forward to now, im 25, im studying to become a doctor. Found a good girl to be by side. Humble and simple woman. Life is beautiful. All thanks to your videos. Im old school so i watch videos more. Id rather watch a video of someone showing me how to become a billionaire than someone telling me how to become a billionaire in a 60 second shorts. Moral of the story my man, you are really helping people out here. Id advise you to try and collab with other KZfaqrs. Doest matter big or small. Help each other. Really sorry to hear about this :( Life can really throw you some curveballs sometimes. I recently, unexpectedly got diagnosed with a possibly-fatal incurable disease (that occurs to 1-in-a-million people), and yeah...turns your life a bit upside down. When bad things happen in life, they can sound so unjust and hopeless sometimes, but it's also the times to remember, that despite it all, we're probably luckier than a lot of other people in much worse situations. It's hard to stay positive obviously -- sometimes when it rains, it pours (as they say). And it's normal and okay to be sad, to be down. But hang in there, and remember there are a lot of people out there who appreciate you, and that no matter how mad things look now, humans have a wonderful way of adapting. So keep your head up, and I hope things start looking up for you soon.

been a big fan of your channel since the traveling days, and speaking different languages to people w/ wouter corduwener. the big thing that i think will help your channel would be to not overthink coming up with new ideas, and utilizing quality over quantity, and make sure to produce high quality videos a few times a month rather than low to mid quality videos more frequently. i think the traveling videos and collabs seemed to be doing pretty well on your channel, and doing more of those videos i think would be good for your channel. i know it will be difficult because of the ear, my recommendation would be to go somewhere without loud noises or maybe inside. viel glück! късмет!

This is a really good point and not something that many seem to realize when posting shorts. Posting shorts and the dominance in short form content that has taken over this platform has crippled the ability of many to truly grow and accumulate true watchers and subscribers. Most the growth that many find is hollow. Subscribers do nothing for a channel unless they watch the content that a channel produces. I wish you good luck in trying to overcome this issue yourself. Ive been watching you for years now and honestly the content where you ask people geography questions will never get old for me. Ngl the last few months (after coming back from your break) youtube hasn't showed me any of your videos in my feed and it was when i saw the community post for the shorts channel that i remembered your channel.

I've been hyperacusic (extremely sensitive to noise) since the beginning of my life and I understand perfectly what you're explaining when you talk about how loud, high-pitched or sudden noises make you feel. Fire alarms are my best friend 🙃 As I'm fairly familiar with the field, I'm sorry to say that the ENT (ear doctor) won't offer you any 100% effective treatment! If your auditory cilia are damaged or the hammer muscle in your ear is atrophied (which is my case), they can't be repaired (although I hope you're not that damaged 🤞). The only 'solution' is prevention and protection: noise-cancelling headphones (like those for children at concerts) or really good noise-reducing music headphones or noise-filtering earplugs (usually custom-made); personally, I alternate between these three depending on the situations I'm faced with and my level of fatigue. Yes, because fatigue can affects how sensitive you feel! First of all, I wish you the best for your health. For some concept Ideas I could imagine travle related content, like you traveling, or giving advice about certain countries you have been to. Or maybe if you go to countries tell us about there language, stuff like that. Another idea that came to my mind is strategy games. Might sound a bit crazy, or unrelated to your chanel, but, if you enjoy it, I could imagine contend from games like Dummynation, or stuff like this. Anyways, I also personally really love vids with strangers in other countries or also the omegal Videos, so keep that up, and I don't really like the whatsapp videos. Maybe others don't agree with me, Idk. Anyways, whatever you do, you are a sympathic young man with a lot of talents, keep that in mind, you can always make a 360° turn if you need to, just don't panic, we love you. Ps. Bro, you already said it yourself... if you don't actually put in effort and upload "low energy, bad" videos, why should anyone watch them? It can be seen that there's barely any passion left. New concepts and new ideas are definitely needed! Recycling old gimmicks only works up to the point where the viewer thinks "Oh, he's uploading this type of content again because he's in need of views and out of ideas", which is not good. And no, there aren't formulaic concepts/ideea which 100% guarantee virality, or if there are, it's no guarantee that it will work for you too. You actually have to put in work, experiment, and maybe even risk, to see what works out and what not. Good luck!

I subscribed when you were uploading Omegle videos back in 2021 and stayed for the Whatsapp and IRL stuff. It is true I haven't seen your content in a while, not even shorts. I had to search for your channel. I will admit I have lost interest temporarily in languages but came back recently to it. I do find longer videos, especially those that go into depth more interesting over short content. Longer content also leaves me more fulfilled. I usually watch analytical channels like NativLang and LangFocus and humorous channels like Language Simp. I always had this feel your content was more gamey, like a contest. I'm sorry about your hearing. Please get them checked out sooner than the end of the year. Loud noise can cause hearing loss but I don't think it usually causes that kind of short term extreme pain first. (Trying to remember the health and safety trainings I had for hearing protection) Your eardrum could be ruptured and you want it to heal properly. Please, please check it out.

A lot of the college crowd has moved over to TikTok channels. This might be a phase and your channel could start growing again in about a year. All businesses have ups and downs to deal with each year. As far as your health, I have switched to more of a Mediterranean diet with plenty of olive oil each day. It has really helped with my asthma and allergies. What about doing some fun collaboration videos with The Angry Spud and other similar KZfaq creators? How about having some sort of interactive contests, puzzles, and giveaways with your viewers? People like those online escape rooms and you could use different languages. That might generate some new excitement to your channel.

In the United States we have a pretty common version of the content I watched a lot from you where someone would go stand out on a city square and ask people geography questions, the difference is that they would edit out all the normal and smart answers and upload it to youtube as a kind ok "look how stupid humanity is, some people really dont deserve to live" thing. You actually keep in all of the normal answers and it just is much more entertaining, while there are some dumb answers it never felt nearly as demeaning as the version here. I didnt care as much about the giveaways you did, theyre nice and everything but I personally associate that a lot with mrbeast which I dont really enjoy. Overall, to me you just came off as a really nice and smart guy that was interested in quizzing people on geography.
