When I was a kid back in TN, we spent many days at my great uncle and aunts house. They free ranged their chickens. Aunt Blanch told me to go gather eggs and there was a chicken nesting in an old roll of hog wire, " just reach in an get the eggs" You guessed it, there was a chicken snake in the nest. That was about 65 years ago.

To pull a stump, put a block (pulley) on the tree you want to pull. Line through block and hook to a tree near your truck. Other end to truck. Pull. If that doesn’t work, look up luff on the internet More plucks, more purchase. We used to pull out Dad’s caterpillar cleat track with a small farm tractor when it got stuck.

Robert i read this about chicken's roost's in a wiki article... for what its worth----> a 2x4 is fine, just place it so the 4" side of the wood is in the horizontal position so they can cover their feet when they sleep, i have my roosts setup at 4 feet off the ground, 3-4 feet should be fine, and you can put a small roost in the run, so they can roost during the day if they want. but i also read that chickens like something they can curl their toes around...i think either set-up is ok probably...the main thing chickens want is to get up off the ground when they sleep...its engrained in them to want to be off the ground away from predators at night no matter what they have to get up on...free roaming yard chickens will find a low tree limb at dusk...anything to get off the ground if its starting to get dark

Where that small hole is at on the expanded metal is, would be just right for a pvc feeder tube to a chicken feeder pan. Just put it at a 45 or more degree of a angle with a larger pipe on outside of the coop for filling with a cap.

You should sand the edges off the chicken perch a bit. The sharpness on the feet of the chickens especially the heavier breeds can cause foot problems over a period of time.

Being a good ole country boy, have you ever heard of putting a kid with chicken pox under a chickens roost? I know this sounds crazy but my wife grew up way back in the Arkansas woods, when she got the chicken pox they put her under the roost to cure the pox, that is a fact. To this day she hates chicken. I grew up in Tennessee. She's now a city girl, 49 year ago we got married in fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.

Hey Robert.. I just wanted to tell you Those plastic zip ties dont last very long in the sun and i tried that once for a outside birdcage and after about a few months alot of them just fell apart.. I found that the aluminum fence ties for chain-link fences work really great and I think they only cost about 10 15 bucks for a hundred of them and they stay good and tight for years... Just letting you know.. Otherwise that chicken coop is great!!
