Just picked up a drawknife, chinacon type but it works, keeping it sharp helps, I got curved drawknife also but it does not work so well on bigger logs, no place to put hands, but I’m sure it will work great on spindlwood and smaller railings, etc,Americans need start making them so we don’t have to buy chinacon stuff, the German stuff is nice but way over priced, google it and u will see,,.

Mountain Borne Aah. In the video; when you mentioned that it was a "Barr" drawknife; I thought you were referencing that it was a metal "bar" type design. Thanks for the explanation and link.

Adding a slant to the pull makes it so that the blade wears more evenly and doesn't depend on blunt force, but rather technique (similar to that of basic principle- slicing with a kitchen knife, to take advantage of a full blade).

What is the best readily draw for removing bark ? Do you like the swedish draw knife type which has handles nearly parallel to blade ?

@@DRJMF1 we have custom made draw knifes. The handles need to be roughly 20 to 30 percent angle up from your blade. How you sharpen it matters the angle of the bevel and edge are very important.
