He's the quintessential coach in any movie....dude was a genius. I love how Jordan gained admiration for him and vice versa....despite their NBA battles, and Daly creating THE game plan of ALL game plans.....the Jordan Rules...he knew how to stop MJ....I feel that this made MJ a better ball player from that point...Daly essentially....awakened a beast....This is classic stuff! 😎

I don't know if I'd say Lebron is better than Magic. I guess, if you're just looking at stats, maybe. But Magic wasn't gonna average a ton of points, cuz he was a true point, and he had Kareem. Even if Chuck was making poor substitutes and not making adjustments these were still the best players in the WORLD. They just got worked by a team they underestimated, period. It isnt like they were playing scrubs either, the select team probably would have won gold that year also.

Your mentality was EXACTLY why Chuck orchestrated the first game. The Dream Team players thought they were unbeatable no matter what. They were the best of the best-how could they lose? Well Chuck just showed them how they could lose with that first game. And they learned from it. It's like the famous Michael Jordan commercial where he states he's failed time and time again-and that is why he succeeds.

I remember watching this years ago. Daly knew how to toughen up the players and put a realty check on them. You can see how the dream team stated the game playing like they were playing the all star game. Daly probably started mj and then took him out as soon as the dt went down by a couple buckets, either that or didn't play him at all. Bird and magic at that time were old and no where near what they were in the 80s also. Im guessing magic was out there trying to guard hurley, which he can't do even when playing seriously. If daly wanted to win he would stick stockton on him or pippen. That's just one of the lineup tweaking he was doing to make it easier for the college kids to score. Everybody knows if you throw mj in while losing, things change automatically since his competitive nature would wake all those hofers up instantly.

@keepingitreel...8037
@keepingitreel...8037 4 жыл бұрын
MJ was younger than Bird. Jordan was born in 63. Bird was born in 56 Jordan didn't win until Bird got out of his way. . . Bird and the Celtics had to compete against some very tough, physical teams and great players. The 6ers, the Hawks, Detroit, and LA. Jordan pretty much had the stage to himself. During the entire 80s either the Celtics or the Lakers, or both, were in the finals. Jordan beat the Lakers with all the LA stars hurt. Then he played nobody after that. The fact that the Bulls made 6 finals and won all of them tells you there was no real competition. Bird and the Celtics had to swap championship wins and losses with Magic and his Lakers. Anyway, it's all just one's opinion. They were all very good and made a pretty damn good living playing a game, while the rest of us had to work for a living. . . : ) Fun Fact: Larry Bird is the Only person in NBA History to be named Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, NBA Finals MVP, All Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year.

Chuck Daly is a genius. He didn't play Jordan because he wanted the Dream Team to learn the value of teamwork and not just rely on a star. Larry Bird was quite perceptive to notice that. Cool 😎👍

😂😂😂. I hope you're joking! Every single man on that team was considered a star at the point time! He took MJ out about halfway through that scrimmage cause he knows the guys ego and will to win. Rest of the team was trying to be nice and not step on anybody else's toes. They provided the the perfect scenario for Chuck to pull them together

Magic and Bird were the ones that brought team played back in the 1st place! LOL. Charles Barkley was the 1 that led the entire team in points in the Olympics! They could have left Michael Jordan off of that play roster all together and would have won! Hands down!

He said they played two 8 minute scrimmages, not a full game. And it seems like he's being hyperbolic. I doubt they scored exactly nothing. Right before that he said they "absolutely destroyed" the Olympic team, when they actually only won by 8 points.
