I'm very happy to finally present the newest direction of my musical journey with this new composition, "The Dreamweaver", which happens to be the main theme of my Japan quintet, DREAMWEAVER. This is not to be confused with my "Open World" band from 2017, called Patrick Bartley's Dreamweaver Society, but the concept is similar, and I carry the same principles here.
This piece is written in two parts, detailing the story of "The Dreamweaver", a person who can transcend reality and manipulate dreams. This far from the first iteration of a piece called "Dreamweaver" or "Dream Weaver", but I was unaware of those pieces when I wrote this one, so my idea of what a Dreamweaver is varies from others. This composition is a journey in my synesthesia, and this is the best I've been able to represent this feeling in song form, thus far.
Part One is the "Descent", which can be seen as the drifting off to sleep. However, this also includes the journey into the dream world, which is represented by the transition at the end of the first movement.
Part Two is called "Lucidity (Revelation)", and this represents the introduction of the Dreamweaver. You awaken within your dream and are guided by the Dreamweaver, who colors the world based on your imagination, and the possibilities are endless. The beauty of the world is up for you to explore and control at will. The journey ends with you ascending up to reality, awaiting the next time you can meet the Dreamweaver again...
I have a lot of stories in my head, and I hope I can flesh them out and share them some day. For now, I'll just keep uploading. Thank you everybody!
