That's really sad because Soojin and Shuhua were best friends, like they really showed love and cared for each other. True, when Shuhua said she came to Korea in 2016, she was only 15 years old and was very lonely because she had no one to talk to. But then came Soojin and took care of her, even if they didn't understand each other, they still were besties. Imagine losing your best friend because of a scandal that was false and never see him/her again

Yuqi was teased a lot when she was younger because of her deep tone, often being told she sounded like a boy. This made her self conscious. Soyeon however has always championed her voice and told her it was her special charm, something that made her unique in all of kpop. She helped Yuqi to realise that it was a positive not a negative. That’s one of the big reasons she looks up to Soyeon so much, as Soyeon (in addition to being so talented herself) looks to bring out the charms and talents of every member. Soyeon is a true ace, she writes and produces the vast majority of their music, as well as develops the concepts and art direction for performances and MVs. There’s no one in kpop that has such unique control over their output in a group setting.

"Her face is very versatile" That's what I've always been talking about! So glad someone else noticed this insane versatility about Yuqi. Her face and aura change a lot with different styling, outfits and album concepts. Each comeback it feels like I'm stanning a new idol lol She also dances differently when giving different choreography. With this versatility, I think she has huge potential as an actress too.

They didn't go that much into it, but Soojin and Shuhua truly do have such a DEEP friendship and it stems from multiple things. According to Shuhua, when she joined the company, there were many trainees there, but Soojin's face was the only one she could remember. Soojin was there for Shuhua in all of her hard times, she comforted her a lot. When Shuhua still didn't know Korean, Soojin was there to listen to her, even if she couldn't understand what she was saying. They would use translators to communicate with each other. Even though Soojin was sometimes seen as "cold" towards Shuhua, there were moments when you could see she cared a lot for her. I think it's an understatement to say, Shuhua had a lot of admiration for Soojin.

I love Shuhua's sarcastic attitude, her vlives are so funny. That one clip of her yelling at Neverland was I think because someone told her she was too close to the camera so she literally went so far away and yelled "Pabo" which means idiot.

With their last 3 albums, the other members have stated contributing in the discography as well. Especially in the I Burn and I Never Die albums. Soyeon really inspired them to go up and beyond. As if they weren't talented as is, they put a lot of work into their roles and artistry. 💜❤️‍🔥

Some of the songs you enjoyed Soyeon rapping in were from League of Legends virtual kpop group called KDA, Soyeon and Miyeon voice two of the characters in this virtual group along with Madison Beer, Jaira Burns and others. The group has some excellent music and mvs, her character (Akali, an assassin in the League lore) also features in their virtual rap group called True Damage. If you want to check out more of her raps in these songs (they're fire!) then check out KDA More, KDA Popstars (the live stage you saw a snippet of), KDA The Baddest (the lyric video near the start, "I spit heat, I melt your face off")... And then also True Damage's Giants (the snippet where she stuck her tongue out after "True Damage makes the beat drop"). Aside from the songs that Yuqi and Minnie wrote, Soyeon has either written or co-written ALL of (G)I-DLE's songs. She also produces and directs a good portion of them too. Quite honestly, Soyeon is sort of an anomaly in the industry because there aren't many people (male or female) who can do EVERYTHING she does at a top level.

Practically ALL girl group dynamics I've witnessed have been patterned after the same type: a sports team. Members tease and prank each other yet have each's other back all the time, and you have your team captain who keeps everyone in line and motivates thoses that need motivating and help those who need help. The only exceptions I could find are Weeekly, who behave more like a theatre troupe, Blackpink, where everyone is dead equal (don't know really how else to describe them), and (G)-Idle who are structured and behave like an actual street gang. Soyeon is definitely the capo, and the other members are the lieutenants. Soyeon doesn't have to do anything for her members other than unleash them when the time comes. All the members would put their lives on the line for Soyeon, because they know that she leads them wisely. Soyeon silently expects her members to be the absolute best they can be, and the members deliver because being less than perfect would be failing Soyeon. That is why their chaoticness is so extra. Soyeon lets everyone do whatever they want, because she knows that when the time comes they will step in line and go to war for her. It is truly fascinating. I first really became aware of Soyeon through the My Teenage Girl survival show where she was one of the teachers. During the pre-selection the select audience rejected two amazingly talented older contestants who did not fit the infamous 'Korean beauty standards' but let through two cute little girls who could not sing or dance to save their lives. Soyeon chided the select audience for not taking the future of these girls seriously, to everyone's shock, yet not one could say she was wrong. The participants were divided in 'grades', by age. Soyeon chose to coach the grade with the older girls because she said that if they hadn't debuted at their age they probably have been told they were a failure and had begun to believe it. She wanted to protect and remind them that they had the talent to succeed. When two girls were putting on a stage performing 2NE1's come back home, Soyeon simply asked 'why didn't you write your own raps?' And so the girls did, creating one of the most memorable stages of the series. That is the power of Soyeon. In the end, 3 of her pupils got to debut, the most of any teachers. And when you watch Classy (the gg who came out of My Teenage Girl), you can definitely tell that Soyeon left her mark on them.

Shuhua didn't get many lines because she's not that confident speaking and singing in Korean but she later on became more and more confident, as they became more and more progress through their career she's getting more confident and getting more and more lines

I'll give a rough translation (editing for context/clarity) and an analysis beacuse I really, really love this rap. BEFORE I translate though, it's important to understand when this show took place. Soyeon was hot off Produce 101, a competition reality show that resulted in the popular group I.O.I. She did not make the final cut, but was widely recognized for her talent. However, she was just as widely recognized and harassed (the show had a whole segment on the topic) for being unattractive. This is important later. After PD101, Soyeon was cast in this show ("Unpretty Rapstar".) Soyeon was still a trainee, but was on a hot streak, demonstrating impressive skill. "Kool Kid" had just survived a deathmatch and demonstrated charisma and confidence. People were eager to see the two younger, feisty contenders go head to head. What followed was a brutal blowout in Soyeon's favor. Soyeon RAP 1 "It's your first time here, so I get you might not understand how it works. I'll explain it to you. Here, skill is 'unnie.' So i'll talk to you casually, Yoomin." (Soyeon is saying that the rules which determine honorifics are different in the show than they are in real life. In real life, the korean language calls for honorifics to be used when speaking to someone older than you ("Unnie" is how a younger female addresses an older female), with small changes for familiarity. In the show, it is SKILL that determines who is and is not worthy of being addressed by honorifics, not age. Soyeon is younger than "Cool Kid" Yoomin. However, Soyeon refers to "Cool Kid" by her first name rather than using an honorific. Specifically, she calls her "Yoomin-Ah". The "Ah" is like a reverse honorific. It's used when extremely familiar with someone, and is often used when scolding someone. She's being patronizing and letting her opponent know who's higher up on the totem pole.) "I had my doubts when I heard you rap... CEO Yang must have really liked your dancing, no?" (Cool Kid was a participant in the popular talent competition "K-Pop Star." Among the judges was Yang Hyun-Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment. She is asking if Cool Kid was praised for her dancing because it couldn't possibly be her rapping.) "Instead of getting castings, you get platitudes. But it's nice to see that you're still eating well!" (This is more patronizing from Soyeon. She's saying that, instead of getting the opportunity to perform, Cool Kid is getting comforted and told not to worry about it. It's nice to see that this doesn't get to Cool Kid, since she's clearly eating so well and in good spirits!) "This isn't a (female) rapper, she's just weird. I'd rather call YoonSeo, she's better." (YoonSeo was a fellow participant in Produce 101. She was voted out at 59th place, which was not a great placement. Yoonseo was also a mediocre rapper at best.) ---- Cool Kid Rap #1 "Hey, 101! 20th! Place. That's amazing, whoa. But it isn't enough..." (This is about as far as the rap gets and is pretty self explanatory. I'm making a note of it because when Soyeon's 20th place finish is brought up, Soyeon does a little "rock on / hell yeah!" gesture. As if she isn't bothered by her placement being brought up. Cool Kid looks visibly distressed and flustered, and flat out gives up. The other contestants are either really irritated or super disappointed by this.) ---- Soeyeon Rap #2 "I might be ugly, but you're taking it (being ugly) too far." (Soyeon has gotten A LOT of hate for her looks. She's written raps about it and discussed it at length. Here, she's turning that criticism into a weapon before it can be used back at her. This is so important because if Cool Kid had brought up Soyeon's looks (which was likely considering the rhetoric around Soyeon at the time) she would have looked silly doing so now that Soyeon had called it out herself.) "Read out your will and testament because you're about to get cremated." (Self Explanatory.) "This is the unpretty version of SMTM, but here you spit fire. As soon as you fall, you'll wind up in hell. You lost quickly in SMTM and now you're coming onto Unpretty pretending to be a strong opponent." (SMTM is Show Me The Money, another rapping competition show. Unpretty Rapstar was a spin off of this show.) "And I know about your very famous company. But no matter who is backing you, you can't reach my level." (Self explanatory also. CUBE (Soyeon's agency) is not a small agency. But it is not at the level of the big companies like YG etc. However, Cool Kid having the approval of a bigger company doesn't matter. It's not enough for her to be a real challenge to Soyeon.) "The only thing you beat me at is: Unpretty." (Two interpretations. The first is that the only thing Cool Kid is better at than Soyeon is being ugly. The other is that the only way in which Soyeon is inferior to her opponent is that she (Soyeon) is ugly.) ---- Cool Kid Rap #2 *A lot of clips cut out this bit because by then it's clear Soyeon has won. But I think it's worth mentioning it. "My mother told me not to hang out with lower-grade kids..." (The insult is self explanatory, but Cool Kid basically falls apart at this point. She is visibly distressed, and some argue you can see tears. She certainly does wipe at her eyes. Cool Kid basically loses her composure after she fumbles a second time. She looks totally downtrodden. Soyeon is visibly encouraging her in a very reassuring way but when Cool Kid continues to shuffle about awkwardly, Soyeon makes a bored expression. The show cuts off their battle here.)

g idle and dreamcatcher became my ult groups so quick, im sua and yuqi biased... definitely dont have a type there... i know u saw both groups at a festival and im v envious, if you were eber going to watch more deukae videos however, insomniscy makes great and pretty short videos, their nightmare era and dystopian trilogy i would say genuinely have some of the best mvs and storylines in kpop, plus their songs like deja vu and because are so beautiful, and their charisma on stage versus their complete crack off is a whole rollercoaster, theyre very enjoyable to watch

Shuhua gets the least lines because to be completely real, she's not much of a vocalist (yet). On top that, she actually requested to get less lines because she wasn't confident in her pronunciation/enunciation. But, she has definitely improved as time goes on. If she continues to improve, then no doubt genius mastermind will find more uses for her. Despite all that, she's still an indispensable member of the team to the other members and to Neverland. She'll always be our savage maknae. And to be even more honest, I think that having a member that you can observe improving over time adds a different element to following and enjoying a group. And it's just beautiful seeing all the members treat her like their kid sister.

I don't know if you know it but Soojin is not apart of IDLE anymore. She was proven innocent not long ago with her lawyer. But I am just saying for the groups image I wish Soojin more to be a soloist than in IDLE again for her and the groups image. Yes they were amazing together but I just suited myself in that they are a 5 member group now. I am not saying she shouldn't come back but that she doesn't have to. I just hope that she still dances. . . Soojin was accused of being bullied by an actress but they kept changing the story and when she left or kicked out. She said that she wasn't sure if it actually was Soojin...The most heart breaking thing about these accusations is that the same happened not a long time ago to Garam(ex LE SSERAFIM) and not long ago was proven innocent. Just to Highlight it but kpoppies never learn there is so many idols that got accused of stuff. Sure some of them ares till in the group but may still face hate. . . Soojins case just got thrown out there and if we are being honest many companies have done mucj differently so people calling CUBE bad is literally dumb. There were much worse companies out there. Soyeon cried during miyeon’s birthday.soyeon was having a hard time for a while because she had a lot to do alone. Although at that time she did not feel that it was hard, when miyeon suddenly told her “you worked really hard”, she cried a lot. Soyeon: I tried to work hard but it felt like everyone was hating me because of that. The members were not around me. I was trying to work hard but i keep feeling like i’m becoming a bad person. Soyeon was the second youngest in Unpretty Rapstar 3, but people called her "scary unnie", as by the end of the competition no-one wanted to go head to head with her. That battle rap was insane TV. Soyeon went first and did that; after that, on her turn, the other girl stumbled on the first or second line, then went silent; they eventually cut the music because she was obviously not recovering. It was bruuuutal. Soyeon was trying to encourage her to go on, but it was for naught. In the end, Soyeon was disappointed and a bit angry: she wanted to win through her skills, not by default. Anyway, the only clip with subs is kind of bad, so I tried to translate it for myself, as an exercise. This was when I was much noober, so YMMV, maybe it's not any better than those subs. :) Some background first. Soyeon had rave reviews from the trainers on Produce 101 for her many skills, but she got a comment that she should give up trying to be an idol because she was too ugly.
