"Nobody would pay money to win money" Umm, yeah they would, isn't that just the lottery's business model?
@sanhakim13353 жыл бұрын
There's a difference because people think they could win a million dollars. With HQ, they could potentially win 10 dollars by paying 10 dollars.
@gabebarbieri1943 жыл бұрын
@@sanhakim1335 ...No, that's only a certain type of lottery. Scratch off tickets routinely advertise the small chance of winning around $10,000, but routinely only award players around $5-10. That's exactly the same business model as HQ, and people don't get those scratch off tickets for free.
@gabebarbieri1943 жыл бұрын
@@sanhakim1335 Also, people playing HQ have won large amounts like $75,000. It's just much more common to win a smaller amount, like $10. Exactly like a scratch off lottery ticket.
@sanhakim13353 жыл бұрын
@@gabebarbieri194 you forget one thing. People who buy lottery tickets are stupid. All they see is the potential to win millions, or tens of thousands. Everyone did HQ at my college in 2017. It wasn't even super about the $, it was just a pride thing to be able to say you've won HQ. It was always funny when you'd be in a lecture hall during one of the lives because you'd see it on everyone's phones and hear people get upset when they'd lose. I can't even remember when we all stopped though, I assumed the app had died but guess not
@muscleman1252 жыл бұрын
they should've added extra lives from the start, and forced you to watch advertisements as well as they should've really tried to pull in sponsorships. Nike was an incredible first step. And to combat group cheating/bots they could've done some programming things to deter it and make it harder, like making the answers randomized on screen, requiring 2 taps to lock in your answer, etc.

The entire time I watched this video I thought about the 2020 Tetris mobile app made the exact same mistake. Gave the "win real money by playing Tetris" scpeal. They called it Tetris Primetime and it even had a host, just like HQ Trivia. It was legit too, people were winning thousands of dollars. Then they lowered their prize winnings and introduced a ticket system that forced players to pay if they wanted to play more than once a day. Player ratings fell off a cliff and never recovered. Its a bummer but I think it proves this business model just doesn't work. The game was really fun though, in about 2 months time I had walked away with about $45. Judging by how much time each Primetime game lasted and how many I won, thats like minimum wage. Ill miss it

I started playing like a week after the app came out and I got my whole office in on it. Most of us did stop like a month or two after the New Year. The memes were great though. Instead of quiz daddy it was lag daddy and the octopus fiasco (which got me so mad lol). I miss those days and the addiction to the app lol
