RE-UPLOAD ALERT:
Hi friends! This is a compilation of the entire Dungeon Design in Zelda series for Twilight Princess. The first episode of which was uploaded in October of 2021. So, yeah you may have seen this stuff before.
There is definitely a little too much focus walking through the individual rooms in sequence in hindsight, but I still think these are some worthwhile videos to have tackled. Hopefully you find some enjoyment in revisiting these classic dungeons.
Enjoyyyy! I appreciate you.

There is definitely a little too much focus walking through the individual rooms in sequence in hindsight, but I still think these are some worthwhile videos to have tackled. Hopefully you find some enjoyment in revisiting these classic dungeons. Enjoyyyy! I appreciate you. Edit: hey all, I just want to state that I am aware of Zelda’s aim in the final battle actually being dictated by player input. This is a compilation video, which I made no major edits to when reuploading, but it was brought to my attention when I uploaded the original Hyrule Castle video. So don’t worry, I know. My complaint still stands however, or rather it shifts to an adjacent complaint. The issue is no longer that her aim is bad, but rather that there isn’t anything in the game to ever indicate that you have to aim for her while also controlling the horse. So from that standpoint it is still an issue, just not exactly the same issue I highlight during the video. Worth a mention, but during Wind Waker’s final battle Tetra aims independently for example, so it isn’t a stretch to assume Zelda would do the same here. Regardless, thanks for watching still and thanks to everyone who left a comment about that. It’s right at the end of the video, so I appreciate greatly that you watched that far! Cheers!

People give Twilight Princess’ “chores” intro such a bad time, but I personally love it. The calm, somewhat monotonous opening ends up being contrasted beautifully with the chaos that follows. Not only this, but spending time with the villagers and the kids makes losing them actually feel like a real problem. The attacks aren’t just on some nameless villagers that you just met two seconds ago, it’s on people that you’ve now met and spent time getting to know. I will say that the stealth section while you collect items is a bit long and boring, but the rest of the intro feels very well designed

Regarding the Ganon fight, the only other time we can stop an animal in its track and throw it to the side is... a goat, in Ordon village, before getting the Iron boots. So, actually, they managed to use those damn goats to train you/foreshadow a phase of the final battle. You gotta admire the dedication!

In all honesty, I love how bizarre/'ugly' the character design got in Twilight Princess. It was really bold and served the theme well.

@@1r0zz This is my favorite Zelda game, but I had the same question tbh. All of the characters-beautiful or ugly-have extremely cartoony faces, and many of the 3D models have not aged well. However, I believe the realism is in the realistic proportion and variety of the human bodies, natural colors/textures of the environment, and some animals (i.e. Epona, fish). As opposed to the chibi human figures and vibrant, solid colors in Wind Waker.
@1r0zz
@1r0zz 23 күн бұрын
@@hhheavennn personally i think the game is so stylised that it is somewhat ageless (texture are an exception, in a certain pow). And yes, compared to windwaker chibi and cellshaded design it is “more realistic”, but even then it is nowhere “realistic”… It’s like saying super mario odyssey or galaxy are realistic because they have not-cell shaded materials.

I always loved how long it took to get to the dungeons. It wasn't just "Oh, walk in and start the dungeon-ing." These are ancient, oft sealed temples that require you to find your way in over the course of a decent sized quest in the overworld. It does aid in the world building a lot, and it also helps to build up suspense for the player as they work their way into a dungeon. Some were a bit longer than they needed to be, but overall I'd say it was great.

Honestly Twilight Princess has always been and always will be my favorite Zelda game even with the beginning game chore stuff and the much disliked mandatory wolf segments (which I actually like for similar reasons stated in this video). One of my favorite things is the callbacks to previous games like The Temple of Time being a whole dungeon, all the musical remixes, and dungeon mechanics like The Arbiter's Grounds Spirits being an advancement of OOT's Forest Temple Spirits, stealing the main room's Puzzle Flames and requiring the now controllable Wolf Form Transformation to track them down more steadily and ripping them a new one with your Wolf Fangs (by the way against Poes and such I love how violently you RIP AND TEAR their Souls out, it's so cool)

Argorok and Morpheel both feel very inspired by Shadow of the Colossus so them sharing battle music makes a lot of sense. That particular score does a great job of capturing the scale of the boss battles, just like all the music in SotC.

You give us the story, lore, theories, and background to it, you tell us the follow up and how we got here and not just a Direct literary analysis. Fun Fact: Snowpeak Ruins doesn't drop any hearts. The only way to heal there, is to use the soup. At least until the Boss fight, which has my favorite soundtrack out of all Zelda bosses. And for the Temple of Time, it is very probable that the rest of the Temple was built after the events of Ocarina of Time. OOccoo's people seem to have had a... hand? in making the automatons, which means they could have met the Hylians and assisted in creating a challenge instead of just letting anybody waltz through the front door, as happened in OoT. Just my theory. The Rupees you find just before fighting Gannondorf were likely put there for the Magic armor. Which makes you basically invincible, but cost Rupees to wear and take damage.

44:49 My guess is that these rooms are Sumo rings, akin to the one we just fought in to enter the dungeon due to the circular platform and marks in the center, maybe during development you were supposed to fight the elders before they gave you the key, but it might've been cut down because it was too slow or repetitive. I don't know if anyone pointed it out in the original video or in this comment section already but more comments for the algorithm can't hurt.

Even if there was cut content for those rooms, I like that they've kept the sumo rings there. It serves as a really nice lore detail, that sumo wrestling is such a big part of goron culture that most break rooms/patriarch rooms have a ring.

Personally, I think the Armagohma boss fight in the Temple of Time is a parallel of sort to Link using the Dominion Rod. The actual entity in control of that giant creature (that had a curious stone-like or statue appearance in the body) is the smaller eye-spider. That makes it the first mecha/gundam appearance in the Legend of Zelda series. As an edit for the horseback Zelda fight with Ganondorf, her aim is entirely dependent on the player, it's based off the analog stick's positioning. So, once you know that, you should never miss.

There was a video on KZfaq that explained the translations errors that gave us the dark interlopers in name. It turns out they were just a group of people who lived in hyrule who mastered a dark magic, which was the fused shadow. But that means that they could have been made up from a collection of different people who loved in hyrule, which explain the sheikah eye and the gerudo like markings. As both races were skilled in magic to an extent.

about your theory on the temple of time from tp being the tower of the gods from ww, twilight princess and wind waker take place in different timelines, wind waker's being the timeline where there was no hero hence the hero of the winds. in the timeline where there would be no hero, they would be more likely worship the gods in general in hopes of the gods hearing them and giving them a new hero, which would also make sense for why the tower of the gods is a trial of sorts. a tribute to the gods as well as a way to prove and present to them a new hero capable of wielding the master sword for the first time since the hero of time. anyway in the twilight princess timeline, they hero remained and they were able to properly execute ganondorf via the sages when he returned (referenced in the arbiters grounds cutscene) so they would likely expand the temple of time in such a way that commemorates these sages and pays tribute to the legacy of the hero that they still feel the effects of to the time of their building the tp temple of time, unlike that of the wind waker timeline where they suffered due to what would be the absence of the heroes legency and maybe even the sages. TLDR it makes a lot of sense that they would be the exact same building on the exact same location, (tower of the gods is right above hyrule castle in WW which was where the temple of time in OOT was and we know that the temple of time in TP is the same temple of time from OOT so therefore they would all be in the exact same location) except because they are in different timelines they would of course not be entirely similar, the main difference being the deliberate worship of the light sage vs in wind waker, the general worship of their gods. I think your theory would be right

I love this stuff, I can't wait to see more! About the final dungeon, Hyrule Castle, having so many torch lighting puzzles and combat, I always thought it was a nod to A Link to The Past, the first time you're in the castle all you have is a torch and sword to get around and finally escape in.

Great video! Twilight Princess has always had this strangely dreamy ambience that I think is still unmatched in the series to this day. I could load it up right now and run over to the lakeside and just... Sit there, contented. Midna was a psyop by Nintendo to get people addicted to shortstack porn.

I'm new to your channel but I have to say I have loved these Dungeon Design compilation videos. Your OoT one was recommended on my homepage, I watched it in one sitting and loved it and then went on to watch your MM and WW compilations too. And I've just finished you cover my favourite Zelda game with this compilation. I love your presentation: critical when you need to be, but not too harshly critical. You always attain a sense of positivity when and where you can - which I think is the best way to criticise something. I also personally love your humour. Honestly, I just love listening to you talk and that's important in these lengthy videos. Overall, as I said, I love the way you present these videos and how your personality shines through - and what a likeable personality it is. And I love the content of the videos, how you balance lore, music, story and the technical progression elements of the dungeon, everything feels weighted just right. A sole focus just on the dungeon progression could - I feel - be dry, but you avoid that by interweaving other aspects such as the music etc. Final point(s): the dungeon music in TP was always a low point for me, even though it's my favourite Zelda game. I was always disappointed by the dungeon themes when compared to those of OoT. But I replayed TP a few years ago and something clicked for me. These dungeons have these intentionally ambient and atmospheric themes because (for me) they represent the fact that you are exploring places which you shouldn't be. That unnerving music in the background which subconsciously bores into your mind as you run around is a constant reminder that you are in a dangerous and unwelcoming place, like a threat always on your periphery. I think the music does such a good job of instilling that feeling in you and so I found a newfound love and respect for the dungeon music after realising that. Also, you note a few times that Koji Kondo was responsible for this soundtrack but he wasn't. Koji Kondo acted as sound supervisor for this game, so he undoubtedly had some input, but the game's composers were Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta. I just felt like bringing that fact to light as I feel so many people tie Zelda's music solely to Koji Kondo (and understandly so given his prolific work) but other composers have worked on Zelda games past MM, such as Hajime Wakai and Kenta Nagata for Wind Waker, and I always feel they deserve their recognition too. Anyway, sorry for rambling but I really wanted to leave a comment and praise you for your great work. I look forward to diving into more of your content.

Love these vids so much. I thought the exact same thing about the temple of time being the light temple. Considering there were so many rumors about the light temple back when Ocarina of time was released, it does not surprise me that they basically delivered on that in OOT’s spiritual successor :)

Imp Midna is unironically 40 pounds of pussy and ass. She's just floating drumsticks with a smug single fang grin. That's not even artists exaggerating it, her body mass is actually 80% in her cheeks, thighs, and pot belly. She's not a pear, she's a lightbulb. They had to know exactly what the fuck they were doing. I refuse to believe otherwise. People being creepy fuckers and sexualizing the Inklings and the bird girl from Wind Waker and all that shit, sure, that's on the fans. But Midna being a forty pound pussy that grinds on top of Link's head and bosses him around is 100% on Nintendo. Her imp form was actually MORE sexualized than her true form, which is astonishing since her true form is literally a completely naked woman in harem silks with black bodypaint covering over her bits.

Even though I’ve watched each of these individually I’ve been watching/listening to the compilations 😂 I love to put your stuff on while I’m either gaming, working out, or doing work stuff. Your content has a very calming quality to it, and you help me appreciate the dungeons so much more. This is such a huge task, but it would be iconic if you ranked or did a tier list of every single Zelda dungeon when you complete your series. Could even separate into 2D and 3D rankings since they’re so different. I’d click in an instant! Gooey from ZD has been doing a project like this and it’s been super fun to follow. An alternate iteration of this idea would be asking viewers to rank each dungeon from 1 to 10 and then do a video showing the ranking when all is averaged together and giving your opinions. Could generate a ton of discussion and interaction.
