My Solution to the Early Game Egg Sweeping Problem!
The Early Game Auto Egg Sweeper
Zero Automation, Zero Power Cost, 100% Design and Dupes. I go through how to set it up so that you can get straight to ranching and not have to micro manage the eggs and critters!
This solves the ranching issue of removing eggs from the breeding room without ruining the viability of the eggs, looping infinitely, or relying on having alot of icubators- which cost refined metal. While this can be used forever- it's a step below actually building the normal autosweeper design.

The nuance of door permissions for the ranchers is a step above anything I have ever done. What a great idea, thank you. I have been manually adjusting the door and sweeper setting every so often. This would also work for pokeshell but moving the spawn away from the eggs using the critter pickup and critter drop off buildings.

you could instead just select the pinch roe egg (pokeshell egg) to be swept into this- which i think is better since everyone can move eggs but only ranchers can move critters

for early game egg sweeping, what i have been going with is a dispenser that dispenses into a space no dupes can access. the eggs would hatch and with a pneumatic door setup, the critters would fall into the real overflow area with critter pickups. the only flaw is no access to the hatched egg shells (and of course itd take a while for dupes to get to pick up the eggs, but thats a given in dispenser designs

ive had a dupe idle on the dispenser itself and catch falling eggs, then the intial dupe that delivered the eggs starts hanging out there too and they start looping the eggs as they fall

Instead of a Trap you could also use a Critter pick up, set it to "0" max critters and then either set it to adult or baby versions of whatever you want auto wrangled. So you could in theory leave all the baby critters in that room

i used to run a pick up but didnt like how much time it wasted doing the whistling animation then start a fresh wrangle animation everytime. the critter trap was just faster overall

Nice, i usually go for 1 door and disallow storing for the rancher, but that's cleaner i think. Also you can add a hole in the wall so they are exposed to the map so they are not cramped in here (only relevant if you have wild critter i guess, but dupes will bring wild critter eggs in). Later on, when you have incubators dedicated to refill stable, you can add a tile of water downstair for evolution chamber. I saw version of it where there is an incubator below, trap the rancher inside and a contraption to sort lullaby egg manually and do a micro intensive 1 incubator lullaby session.

watch out with adding an evolution chamber or any tiles in the bottom- if its too close to the dispenser the dupes will be able to loop the eggs from the bottom floor
