i already posted this on tiktok but here it is in full! as the title suggests this is the earthshock audio commentary from season 19 of doctor who, but just the bits that make me laugh :)

Honestly, these behind-the-scenes commentaries with the four of them always feel like they all snuck into a recording booth with drinks and watched their old episodes just to take the mick. Love it!

Fifth Doctor is my favorite because he can be rambling about anything and then out of nowhere will say shit like “I came and went like a summer cloud” and I think that shit’s beautiful and completely encapsulates him. Poetry

I've always enjoyed the cast commentary on the Pete Davidson videos with this line up. It's like they're doing a cross between nostalgia and Mystery Science Theater 3000.

They absolutely would have done if this was modern Who. I wouldn’t be surprised if a significant portion of Tenant and Smith’s TARDIS teams dialogue was taken verbatim from actual conversations between the actors.

That's what really frustrates me. Jan and Peter specifically have a really good relationship, Peter gently winding up Janet at every opportunity, Janet going off on one. I cannot conceive of why, when faced with such obvious chemistry between the two, they decided to limit their characters to 'grumpy bitch who hates the TARDIS' and 'ever so nice and affable but rather boring as a result'. Its a tragic waste. It could have been one of the best TARDIS teams if they actually allowed them to behave like people. JNT was...you know, bad.

They seem to be a little better about it in the Big Finish audios. But then, the folks at Big Finish seem to have a very chaotic energy themselves.

I already adore these and I'm not even halfway through this video! I have a humble request for a video like this for The Five Doctors' commentary, since there's a moment where they all say "no not the mind probe!" together. That, and K9 and Company (which is an hour of Elisabeth Sladen and John Leeson regretting every second of doing the show).

Watching the commentary for Earthshock was like watching an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 where the main cast laughed and giggled at the bad special effects, actors who had no idea what they were doing on the show and bloopers like when the script supervisor was standing on set turning pages in a binder. Even so, Earthshock is one of my favorite stories from the original run of Doctor Who.

I've seen all of Peter Davison's episodes only once (when I made my way through the series, so most of them I've only seen once) but I have great appreciation for him as the Doctor, and he seems like a great guy in real life.

honestly there’s so many good little quips like that from the cast it’s sometimes hard to condense it down to less than 10 minutes lmao. also some of them unfortunately don’t work too well without more context but I’d love to include them all!

I used widgetsmith and shortcuts! :) I have an iPhone if that helps. you can look up tutorials online on how to customise your app icons.

They’re on both the bluray and the original dvd as far as I can tell! Mind you I only own the bluray so I can only vouch for those with 100% certainty. As long as the dvd is from the mid-2000s or later it should have it.
