I did this on my 2008 sierra 4x4 1500. I did not buy this exact kit. The one I got had the steel sleeves inside the bolt holes so it won't crush or split the plastic spacer. Just be sure to get an alignment done after ANY modification. Changes in ride height changes the toe-in. This kit pushes the front bumper up 2". I also added an additional 1" thicker wedge spacer kit and new "U" bolts to the rear. I wanted the rake but needed the additional ground clearance in the front to avoid breaking that lower chin spoiler or air deflector on curbs. With just the leveling kit in front , the truck actually had a squat to it when trailering a heavy load. I added an additional 1" lift in the rear also so it sat level with the trailer hooked up to it. Great video.

Hi Jim, did you notice any changes in ride quality? I have the same truck. Thanks
@jimandrews2967
@jimandrews2967 Жыл бұрын
@@fdroepman8351 No , the ride quality remained the same. I did also add the rear air bags for trailering my 29' 5th wheel camper toy hauler with my '18 silverado. If I set the pressure right at 40# to 45# ride was still good while towing with 1000# on the 5th wheel plate. The newer trucks have plenty of power to pull a 8400# camper cross country through the rocky mountains.

If u put a small jack under the lower ball joint and raised it a bit it makes it way easier to get the upper back in.

Great video! When the shop wanted to charge me $250 I said heck no, I've got this video that we'll help me knock this out in a couple hours tops...but you forgot the detail about when the upper a arm won't come loose and when you whack it with the hammer and manage to put a wang in the corner of the rotor (done) or hit some of that wiring that's not quite out of the way (haven't done that yet) or after 3 hours you're ready to throw up your hands and say screw this and put it all back together...

With 2 blown rotator cuffs mine turned into a 2 man job having a guy bring a fork tool to pry up on the ball joint while giving it a whack then after getting the drivers side back is myself while jacking it up with one hand, straightening the assembly with the other and the third hand putting on the nut only to have it spin while trying to tighten it back up. I moved to the passenger side and and even with a bud showing up to operate the jack it was a mutha to get it put back together. Finally used a ratchet strap to pull the upper a arm down into the lower assembly and found doing that it prevented the ball joint from turning where I could get it tightened up. Yay! Being old and broken down adds about 2-3 hours to the process when doing it as the Lone Ranger and without the proper tools. Ouch!

Question,on a 4x4 why can’t you get longer bolts and put them back in the way you took factory ones out?
@737mechanic
@737mechanic 5 ай бұрын
Because the axle ends up closer to the bolt holes and the head of the bolt is already really close so if you put the longer bolt in you will run the risk of the axle shaft hitting the ends of the bolts.

Couldn't you just put that bolt in upside down (threads up, bolt head down) like the stock ones are, and then the drive shaft being there is irrelevant?
@737mechanic
@737mechanic Ай бұрын
A 2wd you can do that, A 4wd the axle shaft only has about a 1/4 gap so you would need to cut the threads down and then you would only have about 4 or 5 threads holding the bolts in and since they would be upside down if the nut which may even need to be ground down for clearance ever backs off the bolts would fall out causing all kinds of hell. Putting them in upside down was my first plan until I saw how close the axle shaft was.
