@@dyeace the relative time period this is set in actually had the first stock markets... there was even a massive stock market bubble involving tulips 🌷 in the Netherlands during this time period, that is commonly known as the first stock market crash. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania (also probably the inspiration for this arc, as the author studied medieval/ renaissance Europe). The first stock markets developed basically as joint ventures into Dutch ships to trade in the colonies, which is also directly mentioned in the Light Novels, though I can’t remember if it was in the anime.

pnicful I want to watch this anime so badly. I own it on DVD, the world building seems amazingly in depth. Especially, the economy aspects. But every time I try I fail. The story just seems so blah. But I will give it another go. You've motivated me! 🤔😃

Actually, pyrite often contains trace amounts of real gold (although hard to extract), and often forms under the same conditions as gold veins. So sometimes there is real gold near the pyrite deposits.

That's why I switched to the mangas. Right now I'm at No. 15 and waaaay further into the story than the anime. I don't regret it.

+Syl von Braun - Because of Spice & Wolf, the anime leaving me hanging, desperately wanting to know how the story would conclude, I finally ventured into reading Light Novels. The story ended in volume 16 and what a breathtaking read it has been (the manga hasn't caught up to the end yet). It was almost sad to have to say goodbye to Holo and Lawrence, but luckily there was the volume 17 Epilogue and Isuna Hasekura has started writing Spice and wolf again, with volume 18 and 19 being a collection of short stories, a volume 20 having been released but not yet translated (hopefully by the end of this year) and 2 volumes of the side story Wolf & Parchment... (volume 3 is in the works). So the story is far from over! After I'm through (caught up) with the Light Novels I plan to start reading the manga...... ;)

Holo and Laurent are one of the best couple around .

Isuna Hasekura hás started writing again,... If interest is high enough,... who knows? (Nah,.. not likely ;) ). But frankly, although the anime got a solid 8/10 from me, after reading the Light Novels a new season would be welcome but would not compare to the books, which I give a 10/10

Hahaha, ironic indeed. :) But the enthousiasm/interest for the story has not diminished in the meantime, in fact, I get the feeling it's popularity is still growing. There definitely is enough material to finish the Spice & Wolf story as the writing of the main story is done. But actually, there is too múch material... ;) It would take at léast 6 more seasons if not more, to finish it in a way worthy of the LN. They just couldn't cram that into one season or a 2 part movie for instance. They might try though, as it probably would sell. I'm satisfied with the LN and the way it was concluded, even more so with the Epilogue volume 17, I'm happy with the anime series we got so far as it painted an amazingly beautiful picture of the main characters and especially their world so well,....but would honestly be hesitant to watch any effort to rush a new anime version to conclusion. More often than not anime series are only produced as a promotional campaign for light novels or other source material (which in this case worked on me, for once, only regarding Spice & Wolf so far) and as there already is enough interest in the Wolf & Parchment novels as a result of the S&W success, I doubt they will see the need to create an anime about that series, other than of course..... a few quick bucks. And again we would in the end be left with another unfinished anime series (and there are already só many of those around, really an issue I have with the industry, but that's another discussion.... ;) ) I'm almost done with everything novel wise,.... and then it's on to the manga! :)

I own both parts but only read through episode 1 so far and it is not the best thing ever written (in my opinion there are parts you can clearly see where they cut decisions to make the story easier to accomplish by not having branching story parts), but as someone with little knowledge about the stock market it was still a nice window into a world that i had little knowledge about (with decent characters and a unique setting too).

Prince Lorian I know that you commented 8 months ago, but there’s only little economics if you watch the anime or read the manga. The light novels are NOT light on the economics.

@@davidpotts7116 Yeah, the narwhal arc-which is my favourite, almost plunged 2 major city into war in response to the flow of cash being strongly disturbed. I know this hardly proves how much economics play a role in spice and wolf-which, in any case, hardly because it in itself is not one so; but the complexity it offers can be too much to be narrated in just a few sentences.
