$1 scrub brushes from a dollar store or most major retailers.
14-1/8” long 2x4 was used with 1-3/4” spacing between 8 sets of holes. The holes are 1” from each side of the board. A 1/4” drill bit was used.

Here is an interesting fact about collecting eggs from all breeds of fowl. The second you wash the egg, it begins to spoil. Simply wiping them off gently with a dry rag allows you to store them at room temp without worry of rotting. There is a layer of bacteria on the outer shell that preserves the life of the egg and even rinsing it or wiping it with a damp rag removes the film. Dry wiping gently does not harm the protective layer and harmful bacteria like salmonella do not live in the open air for long plus the natural coating fights those things kind of like the natural biome on our skin. (We also are naturally antiseptic, it is actually washing with soap that weakens our defenses, we would be better washing with apple cider vinegar water which would feed our biome). Think about it... refrigeration of any kind didn't come about until the late 1800s... people have been collecting and eating eggs for millenia... God knows what he is doing, who are we to say we know better 😁

Amen.. cleaning eggs is BAD. When taken directly from a chicken coop and put in storage, and even at room temperature, they will last for weeks, and months if stored cool.

You can always store eggs by batches, 1 week or so appart. When you want to eat them just drop them in a glass of water. The if the eggs are bad the they float. you can also get a rough idea of age by how much they float - flat bottom? Fresh, standing on end? couple weeks/months etc. The air bubble in the eggs grow as they age, making them float more and more until surfacing wich tends to be bad or spoiled (can probably still be eaten in baked food but might be bad.. its 50-50)

@@jmkhenka I had heard once that dipping them in paraffin wax keeps them fresh and not in need of refrigeration. No air exposure equals no air intake. This is supposedly how the military did it in ww1.

The UK sells millions of unwashed eggs a year. They sit out on the shelves unrefrigerated and last a really long time. No one gets sick from raw eggs either as most eggs come with a 'Lion Mark' meaning the hens were vaccinated against salmonella.

@@jmkhenka they float depending on the size of the air cell. So ambient humidity in the room where stored governs the size of that cell. If you candle fresh ones unwashed first and isolate cracks for immediate use, you can eliminate most early loss. Float test and rinse right before cooking might clue you into which to candle a second time looking for discoloration/dark spots. And most fresh egg customers know to crack each into a small separate bowl for inspection prior to adding them to others, batter, or a pan. Also, pickling lime solution for the cleanest fresh eggs without washing will allow even longer storage. I have some in solution for 8 mo now, and have seen others say up to 2 years. Those must be rinsed right before cracking so the solution doesn't affect flavor. I need to build a simple candler to make the process quicker! Cheers and God bless!

Exceptional design, But if someone is planning to water glass egg for long term storage, (like months) washing eggs shouldn't be done, maybe keep nesting boxes cleaner??? Your talent for creating/building things is a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing your gifts

Good idea, one thing I would add though is a smaller board on the bottom the matches the width of your sink, that way it locks into place when using it.

Roll away egg boxes. Then ya don't have to wash the bloom off the eggs so you can leave them outside the fridge.

I was super excited about this idea. But then amused and a little disappointed to notice this must be an April fools gag, and then further amused to notice no one has yet commented that this is a joke. Great idea though!

Ok enough. We get it!! Don’t wash eggs before storing. But what about before you eat them or cook them?? All of you might be missing the point! No one wants to boil eggs covered in feces. Hence the cleaning tool. We wash a dozen or more before boiling. How about giving the video credit for a good idea on washing the eggs. If you don’t know that unwashed eggs last longer by now, read a book. Or the dozen comments that say not to wash eggs 🤦🏻‍♂️

Someone explained very well why not to “clean” eggs like that in a previous comment and I’ll add that the US is the only country in the world to do this and this is why eggs have to be refrigerated here while anywhere else eggs are stored and sold at room temp. Imagine all the shelf space, power and everything else ahead of sales that could be saved just by not washing eggs like that… billions each year!

you should not really clean eggs, at all. You can remove refuse (particles, feathers) but cleaning them will make them last much shorter. when a egg is laid, there is a surface covering the shell that prevents bacteria and lets in air (for the chicken, if they are fertile.. wich they are not if you dont have a rooster). But fertile eggs dont "grow" unless they are warm. In sweden, and many other countries, its illegal to wash eggs sold privately and only licensed factories are allowed to. But they do it much more thural then @ home. the reason is that when private people do it, eggs can get bad much faster. And by washing them you can basicly cheat - buy cheap factory eggs, clean and remove any stamps and resell. So please, read up on what is proper when handling eggs. For home eggs, salmonella should not be issue and your cleaning will probably not prevent it anyway.
