I fell in love with Edmund Purdom when It came out in 1954. I was 13 years old and he was my first true crush! What a thrill to see this masterpiece again. Thank you!

When I stepped off a prop plane in the middle east in 1960, it looked just about the same as over thousand years ago. The "modern" parts looked sort of 1920/30's ,the most modern ! Beyond the small urban sites...it was biblical. There were sites all around that held ancient artifacts. It was an incredible experience. I feel fortunate to have experienced living there before the whole region exploded.

I love to watch old classic movies from the 50s and 60s. Ben-Hur, Spartacus, Cleopatra,etc. Movie stars like Richard Burton, Kirk Douglas, Charlton Heston, and many more. Brings me back to the time of my parents when I was a little boy.

Copy right infringement stops them from allowing us to hear it. They do this instead of distorting the film.

This movie did not do well at the Box Office at the time. However, the big gift that came as a result of The Egyptian was the sets that were built and resulted in DeMille being able to re-make The Ten Commandments.

Literate, complex and about as nearly historically accurate as possible, for 1950s Hollywood. Marlon Brando was supposed to be cast as Sinuhe, but Purdom does admirably as the tragic protagonist. The rest of the performers range from adequate (Victor Matrure) to excellent (Jean Simmons, Bella Darvi) with Peter Unstinov turning in his usual, semi-understated comic relief best.

I remember seeing this with a school friend at a Saturday matinee. We were both ancient history buffs, still in middle school, and talked about it for days. It is a rather long movie for the era.

A great movie, BUT THE AUDIO IS SOMETHING ELSE TO BE DESIRED…..NOT ENOUGH OF IT, SKIPS OUT IN VARIOUS PLACES, even in the important moments, AND DESTROYS A PERFECTLY GOOD MOVIE. I wish I knew what they were saying. 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥…..Maybe someday it will happen and be better. 🙏🏼😢🙏🏼😇

I always loved this movie, but…..this upload keeps losing its sound which is VERY annoying. Perhaps someone can uploaded it, again, with the sound intact? I bought the DVD, which I watch, but, I’m disabled and often spend the day in bed due to pain. It’s nice to be able to watch things on KZfaq on days I can't get out of bed. On those days, I can't get up for switching DVDs and BluRay discs.

I thought Gene Tierney was much more beautiful than the actress who played “Nefer”. The only difference is, Tierney acted more masculine, as she was supposed to in the story line, so maybe her outstanding beauty gets buried in her rough exterior. It was very difficult at times to understand what “Nefer” was even saying. What a shame some of the audio was lost in this copy of a great film. Go read about Mika Waltari a Finn who wrote the book Sinuhe and it's the only Finnish book translated into English and made into a movie. This is a case of reincarnation, the author is the reincarnated soul of Sinuhe who remembers a terrible mistake he made in a former lifetime and has reached through time to himself in the future to teach others not to make the same mistake he did. The movie is very well done but I know the plot and can't listen to the rest of the tragedy. The other movie about a reincarnated soul telling her story again because she felt she didn't make the most of her former lifetime and that is Gone with the Wind. I remember reading where the author recalls meeting a woman, a ghost or a vision, who recounts her story which is either the author' past life or the life of a past family member or relative. That's my take on it. You don't have to believe it.

I love this film. It has real soul and is much better than Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra because past her obvious beauty and the epic grandeur of the film it doesn’t hold a candle to this film. This film has heart, sadness (which you care about) greed and for some faith. Great film m. Love it!

Oh how I wish the sound didn't drop off at significant points. I saw this film a long time ago when I was a child and wanted to experience it again. I gues the writers of this script kind of forgot about who succeeded Akhenaten, propably one of the most famous Pharaohs in common knowlege, Tutankhamun. Horemheb came after that.

yeah about the audio though in some parts it was absent , you did the best you could my friend and that is enough :) I too remember seeing this movie many years ago and there was enough movie like this one but that other one I forgot the name of it but it was about a greedy woman who wanted only the riches of the Pharaoh who made the builders of a Pyramid tomb enter blindfolded so they I think couldn't steal any thing. but long story short the greedy woman was led by the Pharaoh's army into the Pyramids and than she along with the armies got locked inside the armies were willing but the woman wasn't but they all knew what she was really after so they gave her what she wanted but she knew not that it would come at cost. if I explained it right.

Usually the sound drop outs and picture editing is caused by copyright and royalty issues. Note how the theme is missing? The composer's estate probably still has the copyright on it.

FYI you can search yt for other versions of this movie where the audio (usually music/FX only) are missing here, but those versions use stock music that can be corny. Also, uploaders seem to re-edit this film, which is beyond my comprehension. If it's worth the effort to anyone, you can have two versions of this movie open in browser windows and when the audio cuts out here, try to find that scene in another version.

Plot In ancient Egypt, Sinuhe (Edmund Purdom) is a would-be doctor who saves the life of a young man (Michael Wilding) suffering from a seizure. When the afflicted youth awakes, he introduces himself as the Pharaoh Akhnaton and makes Sinuhe the royal healer. While working at his new, prestigious post, Sinuhe suffers through a botched romance and the death of his adoptive parents. Despondent, he leaves the Pharaoh's court to bury his loved ones, and, in the process, incurs the wrath of Akhnaton.

Great film but again sound issues - which makes me think all the reviews are either BS or from the film's original release. Pay the fee and show a COMPLETE film. You do a disservice to the film & the fan

It's a shame much of the dialogue is missing & silenced from this video, can you repair it?

I really wanted to see this movie, but I gave up half way through when the audio cut out, AGAIN, and within minutes of the previous mute session. It's not worth it if you can't follow a plot because the dialog disappears at every important juncture.
