The mass produced EV industry is about 12yrs old and look how far the cars have evolved since the Leaf and Model S launched.

You point out how under very different interiors, the Escalade IQ is similar to the Hummer. The Hummer, even with the new SUV, might never be a big seller, and like the even more exclusive Celestiq vehicle seems to have been intended as a halo vehicle to enhance GM's brand image rather than become a significant source of revenue. But the Hummer was a down payment towards designing the Escalade IQ, which given Cadillac's track record with the combustion Escalade is gonna be a money spinner. On the other hand, the Hummer might still make a lot of money for GM Defense ... going full circle with its HumVee history. But this time GM will be selling more than a machine, it will be a platform for a variety of tech, constantly upgraded. Maybe even services delivered by a MIL-SPEC version of Ultifi over-the-air updates. What worries me is that CM still seems to be slow-walking the roll out of EVs. They sometimes attribute it to problems with supply and automation of battery production, but the pace of their transition is underwhelming, compared to Tesla or BYD and the rest of China Inc. And they are letting Ford and maybe Tesla get ahead of them in selling BEV pickups to consumers. We'll see if the pace picks up with the Blazer, Equinox and Silverado, and the promised new Bolt, but it looks like GM's reading of the market transition to BEVs is that it will be slower than the pace set by Tesla. If they are wrong, it will cost them. They will have squandered what looked like an early mover advantage, at least in mind share.

@@summertyme5748 a lot of electric vehicles are powered by coal power plants, they are run on batteries that come from lithium and cobalt mines. I’m not anti electric but I am anti pretending you’re doing something for the environment by consuming huge amounts of resources. Also what’s the life of a solar panel? How much waste does sustainable energy create when it needs to be replaced? The answer is always consume less but nobody wants to hear it.
@LeCrowTV10 ай бұрын
You're generally looking at 1.5 - 2.5 years of use for a EV (depending on size/efficiency) to have less emissions then an ICE counterpart, after which it is purely a net positive in emissions. The most important thing imo for use in cities is the tailpipe emissions which are extremely harmful to people and EV's produce none so you get those benefits instantly.
@LeCrowTV10 ай бұрын
@@NickLujan Lithium is 95% recyclable and cobalt is already on its way out for use in EV's and most major consumer electronics. I wouldn't. It's a GM. It'll break down and by the time you're done owning it, $175,000 becomes $500,000.

I will be honest, the only thing that I would possibly change with this car, as well as with the lyric, is if they connected the tail lights. I don’t know why they never connected them on either of those cars however, I personally think it would look better if they were connected as opposed to separated

Looks like a beast!! Wish GM would shorten the nose, that's A LOT of wasted space for a frunk. I pretty much never use by frunk in my Model Y but would always like more space in the cabin. Should be a perfect option for luxury SUV customers and limo-style riders.

The S-Class has the polarised screen, has had it since 2008, although the S-Class tends to have a lot of tech about a decade before most cars.
@G-Rated10 ай бұрын
Lol. It’s totally different here, the screen is only polarized from the driver when the Escalade is not in Park. Otherwise the driver can see the entire 55 inches of display as well. But y’all love to give Europeans credit for everything under the sun 😂
@CDN_Store10 ай бұрын
@@G-Rated That's not totally different, a polarised infotainment screen in a car is a polarised screen regardless of which driving mode your set in. Both are safety features to stop drivers getting distracted. Marques didn't go into which mode it works in just that he's never seen this feature before. Yes I am gonna big up the S-Class cause each new model has debuted innovation. lol at giving Europeans credit for everything under the sun. I think everyone agrees Ford was the master of the production line and I'm Black British of Jamaican decent so hell no to Europe getting credit for everything, more like Europeans assimilated certain stuff and didn't credit others for it.

@@WankidyNo one cares what you believe, but it is a fact that right before the Lyriq’s rollout the world experienced a global pandemic due to a deadly virus, not to mention a war involving the United Nations which is still taking place as I type this. These types of things will affect production of global manufacturers like *gm* because they get some of their materials from different places around the world. Not to mention the Lyriq was 9 months ahead of schedule as it wasn’t supposed to be here until late 2023. Y’all just need to use your brains and do a little of your own research. *gm* has another battery factory going online very soon as well which is what’s most crucial for the production ramp up of Ultium products.

I'm not a fan of the giant touch screens. I like simple displays that give the info I need. A decent panel for backup camera and navigation is good, but it doesn't have to be more than 12 inches or so to be enough. That and physical buttons please! I'm also curious what happens down the road to these things used when those displays have issues. Are they even going to be repairable/replaceable or is this just going to send these cars to an earlier grave than they otherwise would?

So this price range and the feature-set is basically if Cadillac made a Model X. The original pricing of the X was in the 120K range back in the day, the sizing is similar (not as tall as Escalade). As an X owner I can tell you nothing beats a proper Cadillac interior, and this is going to be a smooth, quiet af experience compared to the X. 0-60 in 5 is respectable for a house on wheels. This will be a home run, EZ sold out, backordered forever. Slap NACS on here and you have a Model X killer other than the Plaid trim in my opinion.
@richierauscher513110 ай бұрын
I'd like to see the battery size vs range being reviewed. 450 miles is not very efficient when your battery is 200kw. It would be like a gas car bragging about going 600 miles on one tank, but the tank is 60 gallons.
@acters12410 ай бұрын
450 miles of range may seem like a lot of range, however @200 KWh it is close to 2.25 miles/KWh. 720 km with an efficiency of 27.77 KWh/100KM. An good efficient EV is literally TWICE as efficient.(4 miles/KWh or 14 KWh/100KM)

@@ru2225 The cost of charging it will be insane. It's so inefficient, and if you're having to charge up 50kwh worth of car battery a day, that's just going to be insanely expensive, unless you have a solar array that WAY over produces.
