In this video I unbox and demonstrate a brand new unused Electrolux Trilobite as seen in the Science Museum in London.

That was my present for mom's 80th birthday back in 2003. She was so proud, that she could vacuum again "on her own". She treated it as her pet. I later bought about 10 other ZA-1 and ZA-2 used or defective, so I still have plenty of spares. Main advantage compared to newer robots: The very strong Papst motor. I've never seen a robovac cleaning better, than this one. Side story: It uses a Motorola 68000 CPU, so it's basically a cleaning Mac Classic. ;)

Omg I almost bought one of these from Fenwick. I thought it was £100 but it was £1000 so when the sales person went to get it from the stock room and I noticed my error I left the department as fast as I could 😅

I bought one when they came out in 2001. i used approximatly for 15 years. Had to change the batteries once. Find it an very good robotic cleaner. Today I use the succesor Electrolux Pure i9 as daily cleaner.

I’ve always liked them as an engineering firm. My UlraSilencer canister vacuum is still the quietest vacuum cleaner I’ve ever heard. It’s remarkably quieter than my Miele Pure Suction. Both are comparable straight suction compact canisters.

If it is a Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh battery in the Trilobite then it should be relatively easy to rebuild the battery pack, very rarely are Ni-Cd/Ni-Mh batteries in consumer products anything other than standard and easily obtainable cells, plus modern cells would probably have a higher capacity increasing runtime even further. Though increased runtime is probably a moot point given it's more for it's place in history than anything else.
@scarydudu58264 жыл бұрын
I've reconditioned the battery pack with 30 PCS of GP 220sch ni-mh cell. Now the robot works great. The cells cost to me around 75 dollars.

I have this vacuum cleaner successor ZA2 model few weeks ago but sold it back due to old battery which do not hold charge anymore than few minutes. These batteries are very pricey because they are the same which were installed in one of the first Husqvarna/Electrolux Automower, plus it needs two of them. Even pricey than Roomba standard NiMh battery. I don't want to invest money in such old and low efficient vacuum if I already have super robust Roomba 782e Where do you bought this new carpet and how much it cost?

I have the silver Trilobite 2.0 and it has scheduling My friend's 2.0 is like yours. It does not have scheduling, but mine has. And btw if this one was never used, that batteries can be new, but they can be old and you need to buy new.

So Electrolux AB returns to the US last decade and forces Electrolux US floorcare to rebrand their name to Aerus which has been devastating for the company’s brand recognition, sales and market share and last year Electrolux AB withdrew its floorcare line from the US market.

@vBDKv4 жыл бұрын
They are probably never going to be as powerful as a traditional vacuum, but they do a fantastic job at keeping floors pretty much spotless - Provided you run them daily or every other day. On carpet however they aren't very good.
@billosborne31524 жыл бұрын
@@vBDKv ok for surface cleaning but useless for dirt bellow surface. I know i steam clean carpets for a living.you are totally right about carpets.
@Friendoo3 жыл бұрын
Well on hard floors they do ! An conventional Vacuum gets I think it was 96% of the dirt and an robot cleaner gets 94%. On carpet they’re not near at all ( we’re talking about differences minimum 20%). And with all these more box shaped models ( Roomba s9 Vorwerk VR100,200,300 and Neato) they even reach the edges better than some other vacuums !

The Dyson DC6 never made it to the production stage, so Electrolux were the first to manufacture a robotic vacuum for sale to the general public. Other manufacturers such as Panasonic had robot prototypes long before Dyson tried producing one.
