Take a look back in this mega recap of The Eleventh Doctor's journey in Doctor Who since he first appeared on our screens in 2010 until the Time Lords granted him a whole new cycle of incarnations in 2013...
Crashing into the lives of Amy Pond, and her boyfriend (later, husband) Rory, he solved the mystery of the time-erasing cracks in the universe, escaped his own death, restarted reality and even found time to marry River Song. A broken man after Amy and Rory were sent back in time by a Weeping Angel, and a Victorian-era Clara fell to her death, he decided to disappear. But it wasn't long before the lure of "the woman twice dead" brought the Doctor out of retirement. Finding his own tomb on the embattled Trenzalore and meeting a shameful, hidden past incarnation, started him on a path of redemption, teaming up with the Tenth Doctor to save Gallifrey rather than burn it. After sacrificing his life to defend Trenzalore, and granted a whole new cycle of incarnations by the Time Lords, the Doctor regenerated once more…

Matt Smith made Peter Capaldi look like an amateur in comparison. Smith nailed the Doctor in his very first episode. Capaldi couldn't do it until his second season. Smith is 25 years younger than Capaldi and he made a much more experienced actor look like a drama school student.

@@tomnorton4277 You don't think that Capaldi not immediately nailing the character of the Doctor was in fact the intention of the writers? From his first episode, Capaldi is unsure of who he is as a person, acting disdainfully and making rash decisions that are not in line with the spirit of his character. It's only until his second series that he acknowledges he is not aspiring to be the best he can be by fighting to save others and immediately aspires to do so. It's called a character arc.

@@SPM0717 I know what a character arc is. And John Hurt did it better in Day of the Doctor. He was supposedly the darkest incarnation outside of the Valeyard and the Dream Lord, considering himself unworthy of even being called the Doctor. However, he never acted like a straight up sociopath and handled the "Am I a good man" arc a hell of a lot better than Capaldi did.

The 11th doctor is still MY doctor--Matt Smith made me a whovian --and totally caught up in the recent Who universe! I just adored Matt Smith who brought such energy, vitality and gravitas when necessary to his character.

I grew up on tennants doctor, but Matt is my favorite with capaldi the third. BUT Clara is the best companion with Donna the second best and the ponds right after The only thing I like with the new doctor is her Yorkshire accent

If you check the episode release dates, Rory and Amy were barely on earth when any of that was happening so they would have been unaware.

What made Matt my favorite was that David was my obsession and i wept when he left and was so mad to see Matts face appear. He was an imposter! But literally by the end of his first episode i was totally on board and super excited for him to be doctor. I could have given up the show when David disappeared but Matt was so incredible and my weeping was triple when Matt pulled the bow tie off i was broken haha 😂. It took a lot longer to like Peter but i did eventually appreciate and deeply respect his doctor. But even now i love Matt the very best but David is only a slight bit behind.

I just remembered it, but within an hour the doctor has to break the rules to regenerate himself, sure that in the impossible astronaut he regenerates. Where is the logic ?

They somehow “fixed” it with the 13th doctor where they said the Doctor has unlimited regenerations but that is stupid, and I think that it was nust a mistake in the impossible astronaut

He does not regenerate in the impossible astronaut, he uses the teselecta to create a false regeneration.

oh my god. clara pre 50th is literally a different person. 50th and beyond is another splinter! she is sweeter and less bold then 50th and beyond starts her stubbon arc that ends with her death

I love this whole video so much it’s so amazing Matt is and will always remain my second best doctor David is my first best doctor Matt is such a great doctor though he puts a lot in to his doctor. He makes his doctor funny as heck and he’s great with the kids on the show. He’s just an amazing actor and it’s nice to know that he was the youngest actor to play the doctor he deserves a doctor who 🏆
