The Enchantments Hike is the most beautiful hike in all of Washington. In this video, we provide a complete day hiking guide so you can complete the enchantments as a thru hike with confidence and good preparation. The enchantments hike is not to be taken lightly as it can take anywhere between 8 and 18 hours to finish depending on your fitness level and hiking style. Spanning 22 miles with an elevation change of 11,000 feet throughout, this was by far the hardest day hike we've ever done so far in our hiking journey. However, it was also the most rewarding! We've never seen so many lakes and jagged mountain peaks all in the same day hike before. The enchantments trail lived up to its name and gave us one of the most memorable days of our life. Make sure to prepare yourself for this hike as it is extremely demanding. For instance, the 1.2 mile climb from Colchuck Lake took us over 2 hours alone due to its sheer steepness and rocky sections. Bring water tablets or a water filter as there are many lakes along the way. If you haven't done a lot of hiking before, then the enchantments day hike is not for you. You need a decent amount of experience and fitness to be able to complete this in a day. Good luck and enjoy hiking the enchantments in Washington!

Just got back from 5 days in the Core! Simply amazing , words and pics cannot come close to describing the beauty of that place. It was a brutal hike for this 64 yr old seasoned human but worth every, bruise, cut, scrape, insect bite sore muscle, not to mention 1 blister and 3 hiker toes.

Loved hiking up to Lakes Colchuck and Stuart midweek before social media. Was literally paradise. Seen 2 goats down at 1800 feet on the Snow Creek trail once, was a little surprised to see them so low.

Love the video! I did this a couple of years ago. Planning to go again next month! I don't really recall the section on the way to Snow Lakes with the granite slab and ladder - is there a sharp drop off? I have a friend that I hike and trail run with and she's planning to go with me next month but can have trouble with sharp drop offs. Thank you!

Thanks! We loved the enchantments hike! 😚 Colchuck lake and the lakes above Aasgard pass were definitely our favourite. The pass is pretty steep so takes at least 5-6 hours to get up to the core zone where all the lakes are. Would be hard coming down Aasgard!

@@worldwildhearts Thanks! We were considering doing part of this hike. It seems like it'll have to be a backpacking trip until the kids are older for massive day hikes like we used to do before kids. 😁 It's like a Wind River Range type of hike.

@@worldwildhearts Hi, this might be stupid question. Other hikers were saying it was 9 miles to get to Colchuck Lake. Is this another quicker route to colchuck lake? I have never done strenuous hike but planning to hike to Colchuck lake. Btw awesome video. Beautiful views and good information on the trail.

@@worldwildhearts what was your personal fitness level going into this? I’m considering doing this in mid June
@worldwildhearts
@worldwildhearts 2 жыл бұрын
I think our fitness level was moderate-advanced. We’d done many longer multi-day hikes in the past, but this one was our longest day hike ever. We weren’t in our best hiking shape last summer compared to other years. But actually we struggled mostly with just aching feet and blisters at the end of it 😅 not so much the fitness level as once you’re in the core enchantments area it’s mostly downhill / no steep climbing

I would NOT recommend this hike to anyone who isn’t in great physical shape. This is a very l-o-n-g and strenuous hike, with a ton of rock scrambling. Regardless of what others have claimed about it being 21 miles, according to both my Apple Watch and my iPhone’s health app, it was a little over 25 miles. It was (by far) the most strenuous day hike my wife and I have ever attempted.
@worldwildhearts

Agreed! It is super intense. The hardest day hike we’ve ever done so far. Be prepared for a long one but beautiful rewarding views. Only attempt if well prepared physically and mentally

I’m not camping here, do I still need a back country permit? Because I read that you need to sign up for a lottery?
@worldwildhearts
@worldwildhearts 2 жыл бұрын
You need a national forest day pass, which was $5 when we did the hike and can be purchased at the 7/11 in Leavenworth. Then, you need to fill out your contact information / details on the backcountry card at the trailhead which doesn’t cost any extra money. This applies even if you’re just doing it as a day hike since the rangers need to know to search for you if you don’t make it to your endpoint by the date listed on your form. If you’re planning to do it this time of year, keep in mind that it’s getting colder and there is potential for snow / more variable conditions. Check the AllTrails comments on the trail before you head out to see if there is any potential danger from recent hikers
