I just really love the ending. She's basically saying: "You won't get pretty words from me. You can get those from your other wives. Me, I'll prove my love. When we die you won't be wondering wether I loved you. I'll never say a word and you'll still know. Words are cheap, actions are worth more than gold."

That's how I felt. They were put together again in "The Legend of Haolan". But he looked much older than her in that drama. Though she ended up with a prince more her age!

I love the ending, the Emperor and Wei Lingluo are so perfectly matched, equals in fact. I love the way they play games with each other, he pretends he doesn’t know what love is and she refuses to tell him how much she loves him yet it’s obvious they share a deep and intense love. For me their evolving relationship was the most dynamic and exciting to watch of the whole series!

@@artisinsimplethings2155 Okay we get it you’re a diva fan. He is a emperor this is how they are raised, given the time period he is actually very reasonable. Next unlike Fuca he actually matches Yinglou’s personality, they are both very manipulative and love to play games. Next while the Emperor did interfere he didn’t make Fuca marry that evil woman. Fuca decided that was the best way to protect her, even though Yinglou was willing to freeze to death than to lie about what she felt, his sisters gets on him about this. Her feeling for him changed after this.

I think the reason yingluo didn't became an empress is because she respect empress xiaoxianchun (rongyin) so much. So she chose the title imperial noble consort ling but she still controls the harem and the most powerful woman in forbidden city.

Not verbally voicing her love for the emperor in no way meant she did not love him. Yingluo loved the emperor. Like she told the deposed empress later, "the one who says it first loses". The empress told the emperor she loved him, and he took it in stride, he did not value it. The emperor seems to have this personality that whatever he strongly yearns for, don't easily give it or say it to him, else it will automatically lose its value. Only Wei Yingluo understood that..that's why she never voiced it, but said to the emperor "I will use my whole life to show you my heart". It's also the reason she was always NEW in his eyes in spite of the long years they were married. No old or new concubine got his heart except her. She was a master at psychology.

He even told her at one point that the more she says no the more he wants her (in the episode where he makes fuheng marry that despicable other servant). then when she didn't want him she immediately after hearing that pretended to be infatuated with him and he dropped her like hot coal. so now she used the reverse tactic.

Empress Fuca predicted it from the get go. It’s strange how many people have come and gone, but who are the real winners? Empress Dowager lived bitterly. Empress died and Empress deposed. Emperor has to have a heart of stone. The many harem women have also suffered bitterly. I can’t think of any of them as winners. It hurts your heart when you think of how the Palace has evolved over time. Then you think of all the stories that accompanied you as you watched - Chenbi ‘becomes insane’, Consort Yu sacrifices herself, Mingyue kills herself leaving Halancha unfulfilled, Late Empress’s suicide, the Step Empress’s deposition, Fuheng’s love and death, death of Empress Fuca’s baby, Steward Yuan choosing hate and he goes insane.

I like how Consort Shu and Consort Qing (the ones who wore green and purple robe, who greeted her in the front) who Yingluo first met on Episode 1 as Yingluo entering the Forbidden City as a servant and Consorts Shu and Qing entering as part of the harem ended up as Yingluo or Imperial Noble Consort Ling’s companion.

Yes I note the english translation says it wrong it says Noble Consort Ling when she is in fact an Imperial Noble Consort Ling.... Consort Qing is also who Yinglou gave her son to to look after and raise ( Her other son sadly died ). Her two daughters she gave to the Empress Dowager to raise and look after. "Edited to correct my mistake"

Ying luo will never say that she loves the emperor. Her actions are the ones who will speak. As she said to Empress Nala, the first one to speak is the loser. Yes, she loved Fuheng because fuheng is first love and true love of ying luo. But the relationship of ying luo to the emperor is a matured relationship. They both understand each other well. I think their love will lasts.

She was willing to walk in the snow instead of lying about what she had felt for him. He decided lying to keep her safe was the better option, this goes against who Yinglou is.

As much as she loves Fuheng, I believe she truly loves the Emperor too. Although she started getting his attention to get what she wanted, I think she developed feelings along the way. He’s the one person who sees through all her scheming, knows her for who she is, without any illusions, but still loves and cares for her anyway.

I didn't ship her and the empreror at first though they've always had good chemistry as I really liked her and fuheng and the empreror already had enough ladies. But I really like their dynamic and I think some part of yingluo ,when she was apologising to fuheng and promising to be there for him in another life, knew that with the Emperor she could have revenge and love. The love between her and fuheng was first and true love and all the shit that transcends death. Whereas her love for the empreror was a lot more grounded in mutual benefit and deep attraction which eventually turned into the love of companion ship that still retained a spark. She knows how to keep her man (Its ying luo she always gonna remain sassy). In summary GREAT DRAMA ALSO THERE'S A SEQUEL ABOUT THEIR DAUGHTER( the same actors are in it)

cake3 ice I think people especially young girls just ignore the fact that this story was set over a 24 years, that over that period Wei Lingluo grew up and matured. Fuheng was Wei Lingluo’s first young love but that idealistic love was shattered forever the moment he married Erqing, it was never the same for her after. Fuheng stans just dismiss that he was the beginning but that the Emperor was the middle and the end for Wei Lingluo, their relationship for me was the most dynamic and exciting to watch of the series. The Emperor and Wei Lingluo were perfectly matched, equals in fact. What was most telling was that Wei Lingluo returned after 3 years at the gardens for ‘herself’ not because of any revenge or scheme, just to see the Emperor. This time he played her at her own game, she was the one left feeling jealous and insecure, which was very revealing. The Emperor and Wei Lingluo shared an intense and deep love for each other, a joy to watch!

I love how calculating she is. I wish she taught her children that because the imperial palace is no place to be nice. Wei lingluo is an amazing smart, calculating woman but the thing i love most is how repays kindness and hate the exact same way in the exact amount. The empress saved her so she saved him. Prince ho ruined her sisters life and she left him with nothing and death. She never gave u less or more than you deserved and i loved her for it

The Imperial costumes in this episode are magnificent !! and so they were through this series, in every detail, headdresses, hair dos, jewels, embroidered outfits worn by the ladies, so perfect.. The decors, palaces furniture, dinnerware, all so beautiful. And the actors ... just wonderful. A great series indeed. 👏(I watched it twice !!!) Greetings from Belgium.

anna simson Yanxi palace imo is like a typical drama with exaggerated scenes and uncanny behaviour that do not reflect how life was like in the forbidden city. A big step closer to that would be ruyi ´s royal love. The version with better historical ties albeit with a darker twist would be the older zhenhuanzhuan. To each their own, I guess

You do all know that ruyi is the second empress ,that drama has so many lope holes and mistakes specially when it come to the second empress ruyi/ in yanxi equivalent empress Nala ,,,,according to the history the second empress and the emperor relationship is not passionate but more on duty that means no romantic ties between the emperor and the empress(ruyi) so I conclude that drama is a hoax ,,,,,,,, not to mention during cutting her hair in ruyi he only talk with the emperor but where is the empress dowager at the scene? In the records the empress cut her hair to curse/ sign of disrespect the emperor and the empress dowager,,,,,,,,,, not to mention the ugly costumes and the cheap headresses ,,,,and poor execution of the actors ,,,,,, the lead actress has pouty drop mouth and energyless so defaming ..

@@charmainerideifaulkerson5997 Again, that is not true. I suggest that you read about the ACTUAL lives that the characters of Story of Yanxi Palace are based upon. The Qianlong Emperor did not designate a new empress officialy after Empress Hoifa-Nara (Xian) was demoted and eventually died. So the empire didn't have an empress, refuting your statement that Imperial Noble Consort AUTOMATICALLY becomes empress. But, the de facto female head of the harem was Imperial Noble Consort Ling ( Yingluo). SHE BECAME EMPRESS ONLY AFTER DEATH THROUGH THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF HER SON, THE JIAQING EMPEROR. Again, take note, these are the REAL-LIFE events.

i find that even though the emperor had some kind of a childish temper that appeared on many occasions, he still understood his position in life. Meanwhile his brothers and relatives were the ones who were truly spoiled like prince yi and prince he. Hongzhou wanted to behave like a philandering entitled brat and expected the emperor to be fine with it. His mother was even worse and covered for him while maintaining the act of the virtuous mother consort. It baffles me how he got mad at the world for not supporting his behavior like it was natural but scolded him instead. The pair of mother and son clearly never heard of karma, and they most definitely never expected for it to come in the form of a cunning and patient young maid who loved her sister.

I like Huanghou’s silly laughing by saying “Kexiao, tai kexiao...” how stressful was she at this point. Seeing all these years went nothing for her and everything she had been take over, was lost eventually in a blink of eye... Nothing left, only the title of Empress, nothing but deco.

482darkknight It is used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Buddhism. Its religious uses can be traced back to the 200 B.C. In the Western world, it was a symbol of auspiciousness and good luck until the WWII. In the drama, the queen is imprisoned for life, and the prayer beads in her hand match that symbol. We shouldn’t associate this symbol, which has a meaning of thousands of years, with Nazism and antisemitism anymore.

@@tao4651 I agree wholeheartedly. The symbol needs to be rehabilitated. Taking it back from its misuse is something worth trying. My belief is that it will take time, but Buddhism, Hinduism and other Asian religions can take the lead in this. It doesn't appear that the West will do anything but associate it with Nazism for some time.

I love love theses two actor together, I found another show where they are in it and some of the other cast are too. What fun to see at least 4 or 5 of this cast in another show. Hope I find a third series with the emperor and Yingluo the new empress. And yes, so sweet at the end, they love each other, Hurray. The end
