I finally understand why Ruyi cut her hair. Not because she disliked him, and not because she hated him at that moment, but because she was just tired of trying to save a relationship that was better off severed and she was mourning the death of the love between her and Hongli.

The sheer magnificence of how Ruyi left after not only cutting her hair, but dropping it on the floor to further emphasize he had crossed her bottom line. She showed the Emperor, how she truly viewed him. Looking at these clips after the drama, I realized the Emperor wasn't as clueless as one might think. He knew the harm he was doing, but as the Emperor, he erroneously thought, all would be forgiven and forgotten and his actions were acceptable. He forgot one important fact, Ruyi was not in anyway like his former Empress. She wasn't timid and only there to please him. She called him out on his bs and after all he had put her through, there was only so much she could excuse or overlook. This was the beginning of the end, I believe the true break happened after all what he put Ling Yunche through.

Ruyi was always accused and punished for everything that happened in the Palace by the Emperor. In that moment when he slapped her, she looked up and what love she had for him was gone. She held onto him all those years and he just didn't seem to care. What courage it took for her to cut her hair. She seemed like such a good person and deserved to have children and an Emperor who loved her but she didn't get to keep either.

When a woman gets tired of her man bs. She will let you know. I have watched this show many times. And how she carries herself as a friend, wife and mother and finally an empress, was truly amazing. She did everything she could for him even forgiving his tyrant was sometimes

This scene is so satisfying to watch. She must have crushed his man child ego badly. And the way she dropped the hair like Salt Bae lol!!!

The first time he slapped her, she cried. The second time, not only that she didnt shed a tear, she cut her hair. She was so strong throughout the series. I love the fact that Ruyi gave to the Emperor exactly what he deserved and didn't forgive him in the end. Every time he insulted her, casted her away (the incident to the cold palace too), wasn't there for her, slapped her, she didn't forgive these things but kept them into her heart. I'm glad that she didn't let go of these.n Through the series she never gave up on her beliefs and was truly a great empress and wife. Too bad that Qianlongn couldn't see it, because his only love was empress Fucha (in history too). He was indeed the best and the worst thing that happened to the Qing dynasty. He changed for the worst, or perhaps just got bored of Ruyi (I think that what was attracting him to her was the fact that back then she was the only one that had the courage to say "no" to him and didn't do as he pleased). Ruyi was the one that remained the same and truly loved him. She loved until she didn't have anything to love anymore. And I think that the last straw for Ruyi was when the emperor tortured Ling Yunche, made him an eunuch, ordered him to serve her and Qianlongn then wanted to have a meal with Ruyi saying that he prepared her favorite dishes when in fact it was everything she hated+ the dishes looked exactly like a p€nis etc. I don't think that it was coincidental + he asked Ling Yunchen to feed Ruyi too when she didn't want to eat a thing.

This drama is sadly so accurate when it displays the problems between couples, there's always one partner who loses their respect for the other due to abuse/neglect/arrogance from the other.

這個和敬公主在這時稱如意為皇而娘，第一次這麼有尊重，而且看到地上的斷髮，竟然還眼眶紅紅，可能也有點憐憫，這時才知道如意不是貪戀權位之人，而且如果富察皇后活到現在應該也不會多好過

如懿，真心心疼如懿。對自己髮妻動手的根本就不是人。渣隆，你該慶幸如懿沒有髒了自己的手！如懿把自己斷了髮絲的動作更是絕！肢體語言都明示著我不稀罕你給的後位和你這個眼前人！

這是我唯一看哭的，這部也是我不想二刷的，愛得太卑微、太委屈了， 真的蘭因絮果，眼前人已非彼時人，兩兩相望，唯有失望，貫穿全集。

This is when princess hejing realizes a glance that his father/emperor was wrong to play with the ladies of brothel and the empress is right to have the sadness, but her grudge to ruyi is so deep so she is confuse whether to side the empress or the emperor. She is speechless. Good acting

I can’t stop commenting on these clips. I saw all episodes 3 times. The acting is superb. Not only the main characters, but every single actor even to the extras. I am truly addicted to “Ruyi and Her Royal Love in the Palace. “.

I never finished watching this drama. I want to get back into it because I loved Ruyi. She was the only one ever truly honest with him and he took her for granted

She’s sick of him. He never trusts anyone, promising one thing them keep doubting and tormenting them. He’s toxic just like his royal mother.

One of the best scenes of the entire series! Amazing work by both leads.

This scene is definitely something when even Wallace (the one who played as Qianlong) own wife said she cant stand watching Qianlong douche attitude towards Ruyi 🤣🤣🤣

She is determined: so true to her heart, her people, and him as trying to protect his reputation and status. By the way, the director is brillant and smart and gifted: mesaage interpreted through all the camera, the music, the movement and many more.

She didn't go mad. She's just very tired of him. He's never grown up. She's releasing him of her being his wife.

This was a man-child, he would rather have women who bend to him like the willows instead of the caring, strong and nurturing woman who was his Empress. To actually compare Ruyi to two murderers showed his immaturity and insecurity at being told the truth in a gentle and non threatening way. Ruyi called him out on all his bs, she didn't hold back. That was a long overdue reality check Ruyi gave the Emperor. I don't even think the Dowager Empress ever spoke to him so bluntly and It was high time he faced the truth. No man is an Island, even the Emperor has to face his people and what kind of legacy he would leave. Ruyi was trying to protect his reputation and the fool couldn't see past his lust. Good for her.

Both actors in this scene are riveting.. I come back and watch this every once in awhile. It's pretty mesmerizing.

I love this version of this scene because it has all 3 rumored reasons as to why the Emperor cast off and "erase" the Step-Empress Ula-nala from history. Brilliant acting as well by the actress (and actor).

She was never afraid of the truth. She spoke it out without hesitation when she saw him as no longer the same person. She was right. Emotionally selfish and immature, jealous, prideful, and double-minded, he could not see himself as he was, nor could he see her as she was, ‘til the end.

This is an example of how power and wealth can get to someone's head. "Even if that is the case, I am the Emperor." And no matter how much power and wealth one may have, you will STILL never be able to buy something that is truly worthy. He keeps pandering to the people who stroke his ego knowing he is losing the people who are truly on his side the whole time, drunk on the feeling that he is someone special and someone worthy. It is truly pathetic and pitiful that he has let the role of emperor get to his head, believing that he deserves things, especially non-material intangible things like a person's devotion, just because he is emperor.

This portrayal of a person in power is realistic i think .. The paranoa and narcissism..and thinking they are always right even when confronted.. This is more realistic than an emperor in a happy marriage (not to mention the toxicity of any harem. Pitting women against each other, competting to please one guy who has all the power over them, never ends well). This guy clearly loved that woman and yet it changed nothing. In a society where men rule, the one man on top won't be fair to his woman.. Power corrupts in geberal, and also in couple dynamics
