I'm really glad you liked the finale! I thought this season was absolutely incredible. To answer your question of why they're making more seasons, these first two were based on the first book, Interview with the Vampire, but there are thirteen books in the Vampire Chronicles. Next season will be based on the second book, The Vampire Lestat and I believe will also introduce some elements from the third book, The Queen of the Damned. This season finale felt like a conclusion because it ends Louis's story, but they left the doors open for what we'll see in the future (Lestat going on tour, vampire Daniel, more of Armand, etc.). One of my favorite things about this adaptation is that we get to see a version of Louis who has agency. He grows so much in these two seasons. Seeing him at the end in his redecorated penthouse, wearing color, with his brother Paul's portrait and Claudia's dress up for him to see and remember, was so satisfying. I hope you will come back for s3 when we eventually get it!

Louis is also my favourite! He doesn't actually appear that much in the book series but the tv show producers have made it clear they will keep Jacob present in future seasons, which is a relief.

The writers already said that Louis will remain a main character even though next season is focusing on Lestat's backstory so don't stress about Season 3, so he'll definitely be around. The book series is very long haha.

The Vampire Chronicles explores many different character over many different time periods, with only a loose thread binding a lot of these stories together. It is a true ensemble. The first book Interview with the Vampire, was written to be a standalone, until Anne Rice processed her grief (Claudia was loosely based on her daughter who passed away) and wanted to come back to these characters. The next book, The Vampire Lestat, is my favorite of the series. It is a slight change of pace, but it is filled with heartbreak, romance, and tragedy, just as Interview with the Vampire was. While Louis has reduced appearances in books going forward, he is still THE MOST IMPORTANT person to Lestat. Lestat is as close to a main character you can get with this series, because the series always switches up point of view. But rest assured, just seeing how they transformed this first book so wonderfully onto screen, next season will not be a downgrade! And the showrunners have promised to give Louis the screen time he deserves going forward. There are so many new wonderful characters we have yet to meet (Gabrielle, Marius, Akasha…) and a whole world full stories to explore. I am beyond excited for next season- the scale of this show is just going to increase dramatically. I am ready to be emotionally ruined by what may come next!

This episode honestly was so haunting but still great to see the love Louis and Lestat never diminishing.10/10 show Also although s3 will be based on Lestat,Louis will still be a main character as well.

Why is there season 3? Because there are other books. This is The Vampire Chronicles. And if they stay on target, season 3 will be their adaptation of Book 2: The Vampire Lestat.

Whew boy did I lose it in that last scene between Louis and Lestat. I feel like I've gained a lot of appreciation for Louis and Claudia, moreso than I had in reading the books. I separate from the movie because my love for him there was driven by how much I liked Brad Pitt at the time lol. Every actor was top tier in this series, and imo, Sam, Jacob, Delaney and Assad surpassed that. The Vampire Lestat was never my favorite book in the series, but based on what they did with IWTW, I bet I'll view it in a better light after watching season 3.

It's disappointing that you may not watch season 3. Lestat will be front and center and his back story is very exciting and interesting and compelling. Tbh Louie plays a small part in The Vampire Chronicles but he will be back. I hope you will give season 3 a chance. Lestat is larger than life!

I love how much of a Louis fan you are, bc me too!! The writers and Jacob Anderson have made him one of the most fascinating characters by far bc of how much he represses and how much he denies himself. And then for the character arc at the end, of him embracing the darkness in him and deciding that he loves it, and thanking Lestat for it, and apologizing for hurting himself in front of him for so many years by denying his truth, when all Lestat wanted was for him to love himself and be able to love him back is EVERYTHING. Lestat has issues but Louis coming to the understanding that all the fucked up shit they went through was for love poorly expressed or love misplaced-- even the shit with armand being such a LIAR. I was so mad and disgusted with him too, man but also I feel sorry for Armand bc he's been afraid his whole life and has to lie to save face bc he can never be brave enough or set aside his pride enough to at least be an "honest dog" like Lestat, which is what he really resents about both himself and Lestat. I agree, Louis needs to be by himself for a while. I love single-era Louis and need more of that before I'd be comfortable seeing him get back with Lestat, who's also still in need of some intense therapy lol. Like they can grieve together and be friends, but they are not under any circumstances to share a roof for another few years at least 😂😭 Louis slaughtering the coven was CATHARSIS! He's so hot when he's having his crazy-girl moments. 🤣
