@allie_ostrander looking at the US trials and the Mu situation a trials plus committee selection makes more sense. Top 2 at trials and the 3rd slot is decided by a selection committee with the default preference being the next highest place with the standard but allows for appeals like Mu

@@allie_ostrander Allie, you are a "Fontaine' of inspiration. We watch athletics not for just a 'winners pile on' , but to observe 'human spirit' . Pre came 4th at Munich, but it didnt matter... we all saw how he turned himself inside out. And when we watch you race, we know you have left nothing in the tank. Your love of 'the craft of running' bursts out like light peeling out. Maintain the rage !

You have every reason to be proud. You trained with purpose. You didn't let yourself down, and you didn't let your fans down. You crushed the Olympic standard. That forever makes you an Olympian in our hearts, whether you go to Paris or not.

Allie, listen to what this person's saying. You are still so young, AND people are competing older and older. Tom Brady was 45 years old when he retired, and he wasn't a pitiful hanger-oner when he retired. He took such good care of himself that he was still at the top of his game. 2028 is TOTALLY DO-ABLE Allie!

And almost nobody can be sure they're going to qualify for a super-elite event like the Olympics! That's why the trials are exciting! (Except for unusual cases where an athlete is head and shoulders above everyone else in their field, like Simone Biles in gymnastics.) You were solidly in the running and made a great showing.

For every athlete who "failed" at the trials, there are fifty who "failed" to get into it. Getting there is an achievement in itself. Well done Allie!

That was the fastest US Trials race of all time by a far margin and you got 7th in a big PR. While I understand that you technically “failed” to make the team, under no circumstances can that race, or this past season, be considered a failure. Anyone who thinks that (and especially anyone who takes the time to post it or comment to that effect) doesn’t know what it’s like to do hard things. Great season Allie, I still believe.

No - this series wasn't clickbait. But it was the rebirth of one of America's most amazing runners and a testament to the fact that injuries, illnesses or whatever setbacks there might be on your path, you can still be successful if you pour your heart and soul into it

When you run a PR in a final you literally did the best you have ever done when it mattered. Lots of talented people fold under pressure or over-train and run their worst times in a final. You didn't fold, quite the reverse. You just got beat by faster runners -this time. So, arch an eyebrow at the result, nod, and say to yourself, "Next time". Very proud of you, young lady.

That already puts you ahead of 80% of humans whose dreams die in the planning stage and they never get around to writing that book, making that movie, participating in that race, etc etc. Your efforts, your introspection, your analysis, your honesty, and your self-awareness makes you a role model and an inspiration for the rest of us who need to find the courage and intelligently follow our dreams. You are an extremely refreshing voice in the world of female distance running. I wish I had someone like you to listen to when I ran Xc and track all those years ago. You had a quote in a previous video (I wish I could remember which one!) that really struck a chord with me and actually made me tear up. You said something to the effect of “…even if you fail at a goal you pursued, you should feel very proud because you had the corauge to go after something that you weren’t sure was gonna work out.” That resonated with a personal failure I experienced two years ago and was exactly what I needed to hear. I know there are great things in store for you in the future! Wish you all the best.

I have been cheering for you for years and I followed your training block this season in preparation for the trials. Though I enjoy all of your videos, this was my favorite. You delivered a great message. You should be so proud of yourself and all the growth that you have experienced thus far!

You should be so proud of yourself! And thank you for sharing, I think it's really important for young athletes to see how to remain strong, resilient and proud even if they don't get that goal quite this time.
