Making some great points and great video overall! On the other end of the spectrum if you compare this phone to a oneplus 11 or pixel 7 pro one can make the point that it is overpriced with the ip54 rating, lower resolution screen, slower charging, older chipset and less flexible camera setup. And the pixels have many more useful features that are not gimmicks especially in the US. Personally I am looking fwd to see how they grow and improve on their already great software but they have some ways to go until they reach the flagship level! Cheers!

It's one of those phones right, until you use the nothing OS you don't really know what you are missing out on with other android phones. They have done such a stunning job optimisation wise and design wise that it makes a lot of the other phones feel outdated in their design. I picked up the 12gb/512gb one on launch and it's been an absolute joy to use. As far as gaming goes it's a really strong performer. I mainly play genshin impact and honkai star rail on it which could be considered some of the hardest games to run on android and the phone 2 has no issues during gaming sessions. Battery life is stellar too. Glyphs are just marketing stuff with some minor useful things (I like the glyph timer for a visual guide on how much time I have left when I'm cooking and the glyph lights for some diffuse lighting in low light photos that I don't want to flood with too much light from the standard flash) but you're right that it's not something to buy the phone for. The thing you buy the phone for is the OS because they have just done an awesome job with it so far. Excited for the full review mate 👍

not a big fan of the nothing phone 2, had high expectations for it but it's the same old same old kind of a thing for me, the company who entered the market on it's cool design has fell short on making the Nothing phone 2 stand out even a little and what's more disappointing is the fact they didn't release the nothing os 2 for Nothing Phone 1... it's like they needed that new software exp. at first for the new phone to sell.

Nice video Mark - thank you. I, like some others using iPhones here, am not the target audience but I do think that it has a great spot in the Android world. I like the fact this it's different and that they put a unique spin on the OS and level of customisation. I hope they keep improving their devices and focus on creating the best device for the mid-range target market which should give them the differentiation they are looking for.

If the blue light were on when the cushion was photographed, and the Nothing Phone 2 removed the blue light but the iPhone 14 Pro Max didn't, isn't the iPhone's picture, though horrible, better because it took a more faithful picture?

Excellent review, as usual. It’s important that the smartphone market gets pushed in innovative new directions, even though I would not buy the Nothing. Have to regularly shake up the incumbents.

top review again ......apple where the first to push the 1000 (euro, pound and dollar) ceiling for phones and it just keeps going up unconditionally year over year to the crazy prices they charge now for the flag ships.....totally unjustified in my opinion and driven by profit greed , companies like one plus (originally) and now nothing bring in top flag ship like phones at a fraction of the cost .....so for the consumer it gives more choice .....the 14 pro max was my last flagship apple device and from now on it will be from alternatives like nothing

Apple keeps pushing the price up and selling more and more, so who is to blame? Only a fool would sell a product for $1000 when they could sell more for $1200! You cannot blame Apple for doing what is right for the shareholders, especially by Law that is exactly what they must do! You will also be mistaken to believe that if Nothing could sell the Nothing 2 for $1000 they wouldn't; a business person will obviously know what they are doing. Even Samsung has stated that by raising prices for the Ultra it sells more phones and makes greater profits. The smartphone market is strange and OEMs know what they are doing. A consumer can choose to buy another phone if they think the price is too high.

I have an Iphone 13 pro max but watching on my Poco F3. Let me be honest I find my Iphone boring however it's a status symbol so I use it outside during the weekend. Gaming and just about anything else like social media apps, KZfaq and Netflix, I still use my cheap android phone.

I'm intrigued by the Nothing Phone. I like that it's getting attention. It's not where I would even think of ditching my iPhone. But the phone is clearly not for someone like me. I especially like that it caters to the Android customer wanting a solid experience at an enticing price tage. It's certainly something Google and Samsung should be eyeing. If I were on that platform, Nothing would definitely be an option for me.

I remember when the Palm Treo phone came out how much it cost (around $300) and I thought who would pay that much for a phone. Back then a phone was just a phone and no internet. Since then I have paid up to $700 for the iPhone 11 and about as much for a Galaxy Note 8. Those are my last two phones and I still use both of them. I am waiting for the Apple September 2023 event to see what Apple has to offer for their smart phone. But I am tired of paying so much for a phone. If Apple does not offer something really innovative, I will probably buy the Samsung 23 Ultra. I am in the Apple eco System but I am slowly moving away from it. I bought a Digital Audio Player (DAP) and have my music on it. I also have bought In Ear Monitors that I feel are better than AirPods Pros. Only Time will tell Mr. Ellis.

I can see that mid to high tier Android users might consider switching to the Nothing Phone 2, but unfair or not, you can't just write off the influence of the Apple ecosystem on brand loyalty, so I don't see many iPhone users switching.

In the UK there are not many iPhone users actually using apple exclusive apps. I use Ulysses Things Omni series and Keynote, and I have never seen any iPhone/Mac users using these apps. I have never seen a person who uses a Mac giving a presentation with Keynote. I’m affiliated at a top5 uni in the UK. The OP is based at UK so I assume he may have taken this into consideration. Personally, I don’t feel apple even cares UK users. It only increases the price of everything here from iPhone to iCloud and does nothing to USA which really annoys me. I think if iPhone revenue fails here it would be what apple deserves.

You cannot just dismiss the OS used. Simply it cannot run Apple. No contest. Pitch it against the other Andross phones for a better comparison but none of them come close to an iPhone.

Has anyone else heard or seen the rumours that this years iphone 15pro base storage (non max) is going to cost £1,299 here in the U.K. 😱!?. I’ve seen on various channels that it’ll cost $1299 in America up from $999 this year. Of course ours is £1099, so the information they have is that it’ll cost £200 more than last years!. Surely that’s just ott, that’s too much!. I was considering getting the 15pro but no no no way if it’s costing £1299 for 128gb. That’s more than the m2 Mac mini pro is currently going for on Amazon U.K at £1247!. If true of course or it’s all just false rumours!.

It will not be as high a price rise this time as the exchange rates are better (see MB Air price fall). So, the actual rumour is $100-200 price rise in the US for the Pros, probably $200 for Pro Max and $100 for Pro. In the UK maybe £200 & £100 at worst. If you look at Samsung and Google (Fold) prices are going up. The last year tech inflation has been around 35%. Post-COVID the world of low inflation, low interest rates, a stable economic world has gone. Prices will rise and rise.

Always love your content, but this one feels like an apple (oy!) & oranges comparison. It seems more appropriate to compare an Android flagship with the Nothing. I'm sure the channel benefits with titles like "the END of the iPhone?", but I'd much rather see the Nothing compared to a Pixel or S23. That may generate less clicks, but I think it might be a more apt comparison.

You're right. But the reason Apple continues to dominate is the reason you excluded - the walled garden of their ecosystem. And I suspect Nothing will not use the latest chips so they can compete on price. That is where they have an advantage

I may have missed something, or just be too old, but the glyphs add nothing for me. If I was to buy the Nothing2 it would not be for that reason. So we are left with an expensive mid-ranger that has steep competition at the price, even stiffer if you can pay a little more, and close rivals that are cheaper. I do not get the hype, which seems far more than the sales numbers of under one million would warrant. Seems to be influencers are being the marketing voice for Nothing? LG did a lot more with their last few phones and closed down even with loyalty from influencers. I fear the same here as glyphs can only go so far until the interest wanes. Saying that, the Nothing 2 has great software so that gives them more hope than LG had.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is great, just the 2022 chip and most people can't make any difference. Cameras are the only real "issues" or aspect to improve. Of course, 8 Gen 2 will be great on NP3 but nowadays, most people will wait for cameras improvements. Problem for Nothing is that making progress in processing Photos and Videos are not an easy thing: Samsung, Google and Apple have a lot of references for so many years, with AI and expercienced developpers. I'm waiting to get Nothing OS 2 on my NP1. I hope Nothing will be successful in future. I was hoping about Google doing something great with Pixel but right now, i can't trust this phone😑, with overheating Tensor G2, longer charging speed, average battery life and possibilities of scratches around Pixel's cameras. Google could do so much more, easily, right now but they seem not to want to🫤.
