Excellent Review as usual. The only thing I would disagree with, and it's completely subjective, but.... For me personally, the headset is the most comfortable I've used! I've owned many, i.e, Steel Series, TB 700 Gen 2, Hyper Cloud 2's, Pulse 3d and Xbox Wireless (Newest Version). I find that adjusting the swivel of each ear cup once the headset is worn dramatically personalizes the fit. One man's, not E.T., perspective! Keep up the good work!

So I did the exact mod that Techne did (wicked cushions & the headband) & honestly it was super easy (like so much easier than I thought it'd be) but the comfort level improvement is Unbelievable!! *They seriously feel like a completely different headset, & are actually comfortable now! But it's important to get both the ear cushions And the Headband... without the headband cover, it's not near as comfortable. Now it's a true End-Game Headset!!* (Oh, and I game on the PS5, but have the Penrose X bc they work on everything, where the regular Penrose won't work on Xbox)

Have u had any white noises or crackling in the background, if so, is it bad or is it alright?

I am so so pleased with the Penrose X. I have had absolutely no issues with crackling or white noise in one ear cup. However I did update the headset software as everyone recommended and it is caused by leaving the sidetone on in the settings. When you buy the headset full update them and turn the sidetone OFF. Absolutely incredible headset. I personally found them really comfortable but I think that's also because I'm used to the Arctis Pro Wired with gamedac and the wires kept tugging.

By the way I used the Penrose X on PS5 and put the slider in PC mode and works perfectly. Also works great on xbox but I am not sure what sound format to put the console. I think its stereo uncompressed as whenever I changed the format to 5.1 uncompressed it changed back to stereo uncompressed

I still love the kiara pro ps5 headset. Had it since December love it since then as well. I don’t have any of the problems that have ever been mentioned. The sound is premium the haptic (on low) works awesome for all around games and movies and music, the mic both of them work well. Better than this one. Idk. Mine work great.

I play rebirth on ps5 a lot with the 3d audio on with the high boost preset and I think everything is just loud in the game I can barely hear footsteps and can’t tell a difference In positional audio like if someone is above me or below me.

Fit for me was great: after 2-3 days you can't wear something like arctis. Just let a bend get loose a bit.

I’m an Emersion surround sound experience wide spa oak sound kind of guys , I like to hear the little things unnoticed by ppl like butterflies, wind , water splash in the distance in games , could you tell me what’s the BEST ps5 headphone or set up I could have to achieve this ? Will it be Sonys 3d tempest with the best head phones or a mix amp and headset ? I would rather use Sony 3d tempest but will consider anything . I’ve got my eyes on : 1More sonoflow Sennheiser gsp 670 Razer barracuda X Audeze Mobius 3d spacial audio( I wonder if you have to turn of either 3D to work) Apple AirPods Max That would be amazing if you could help me make a decision Many thanks and great work on the reviews love it 👍🏼

The Penrose X works on the PS4/5 as well. I own them and use them on my PS5 with no issues. The Penrose will ONLY work with the PS4/5 and PC. If you want a set that works with all 3 platforms, get the Penrose X. If you hate green or have no plans to play Xbox, get the Penrose.

Great review! Why is it inadvisable to get the penrose x vs the ps5 regular 'penrose' though? What is the difference in terms of how they perform on ps5? My understanding of the difference is 1) color and 2) the penrose x also works on xbox, correct? Or is the ps5 version somehow optimized for ps5 in a material/noticeable way?

The Maxwell fix a lot of the issues of the Penrose, and even improves on the sound department.

If you buy this actually get the green one for the Series X. The green one will actually work on both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. When you switch the adapter from Xbox to PC it will work on the PS5. I know this for a fact because I use the green one on both and it works perfectly. Also from other videos I’ve seen on this the PlayStation headset (blue one) will not work on both, on the the green one.

xm3 - great build, excellent battery life, class leading NC, terrible sound quality. penrose - average to poor build, poor battery life, no NC, excellent sound quality (for a cheap headphone).

The fit and confort aren't bad. Its only bad if you are coning from the most comfortable headsets like the arctis or hyperX, which tbh i hate the loose band on the arctis, the audeze is more balanced on clamp and top hang force. The arctis is all top hang force no clamp force. The issue with the penrose is, Bluetooth volume dominant over game, weird noise in left ear on some/most models, poor range, and my model has an inconsistent battery life, and connection is spotty. Oh and the mic is average about as good as arctis mic. For me the lack of background noise pickup is a HUGE plus cor me over better sounding mics.

Also there is a mobile phone app for adjusting EQ and mic input. Another HUGE plus for me. On the fly EQ+ custom presets so usefull especially for ps5 where ps4 games aren't designed for ps5 sound engine so different sliders for ps4 vs ps5 games make a difference

I have the Penrose x and yes it does work perfectly on the PS5. There is a small toggle on the USB dongle that you slide to PC and it connects and works great. Sounds fantastic btw. Hope that helps.
