The Ends of the Earth - Alaska's Wild Peninsula

The Alaska Peninsula is a cloud-cloaked land of active volcanoes, rolling tundra and the greatest concentration of the largest bears on earth. The writings of naturalist Loren Eiseley inspire this filmic essay on a landscape where bears outnumber people and the sockeye salmon run is the most prolific in the world. At the base of the peninsula lies Katmai National Park, a wilderness larger Yellowstone and Yosemite -- combined. Farther down the peninsula a giant volcanic caldera emerges on the horizon, so remote that more people climb Everest than visit Aniakchak. But Alaska is warming at more than twice the rate of the rest of the planet; The Ends of the Earth, John Grabowska's lyrical film on the Alaska Peninsula, asks how climate change effects will impact this magnificent land of wilderness and wildlife.

This is shockingly beautiful. 2 years ago I promised my father, right before he died that I would go to Alaska. in his 94 years, NOT SEEING ALASKA...was his only regret….. not getting to Alaska. But 6 daughters required feeding and that required constant work. So, I promised him... I promised him I would go... Some someday… maybe. It is my greatest desire, and this reinforces why that is. I put these things on to fall asleep and I always end up finding that one, and before you know it, it's daylight, lol! Luckily I've recently came across some old old national geographics, that someone so nicely just uploaded and no ads. If you like stuff like that, to help sleep, clean, or just watch, I saved them all, in my playlist, and put it on public, that'll let you know who the uploader is, because I can't remember right off the top of my head

Nice video in many ways ..Better than some out there , as so many are just trying to be edgy and think they’re doing something , but can’t even read a script with any inflection of authenticity or any natural appeal ... the only complaint is how the dude says words with S’s in them... I have misophonia and it’s hard for me .. they have such a hissy / overly harsh shrill sound that picks up on the mic A LOT... kinda hard to tell someone not to do that 😂but it can be done ... sounds with s,t,z,cks in them are all picking up as being harsh and shrill snd elongated with additional emphasis on them , which is making it hard to listen to .. I have to force myself as best as I can, to try to just ignore those habits in speaking / delivery... he needs to back off of the mic on those letters but enunciate more audibly and directly / powerfully throughout and tney won’t sound as bad or noticeable ... some people tend to fall off words during the narrative .. where they start out at a normal volume but within each word and especially the ends of phrases , starting at the middle of The phrase , they’ll talk at a remotely normal Volume but fall off of the words during , as to where it makes it almost that of a whisper at every word or every ending of a phrase , having too soft of a dynamic at the ends of words which between getting louder and then falling off each sound, it makes it incredibly difficult to fully be heard comfortably .. he is somewhat having that issue , for example , at the end of each sentence , he falls off and half talks , half whispers almost , each word and then begins the next word at a higher volume ,but falls off once again at the end of each word/ sentence. The last word of each sentence is the worst for this dude .. he said a sentence with the last word being scientists ... the emphasis he put into the word was where the sci was lighter or / less volume than it could be but still had more audible quality than the rest and he put the emphasis on the sci... and then the ent was almost at the same volume but a bit less audible and then when he pronounced the ists sound of the word , he fell off it at much more reduced volume ., irs too many rises and falls within each word where it makes someone strain to hear and then all they hear are the shrill loud piercing whistly s, t,c, cks sounds. It’s just aged for me to enjoy a narrator that doesn’t deliver a script worthy of a broadcasting level of expertise , when they’re subdued and have too many parts of each sentence or each word that almost fall off like they’re being whispered. Especially the last word of a phrase ,. And he’s doing the sing songy deal in how he delivers everything where every inflection is the SAME EXACT sounding tones , it’s like bla ,BLAH -BLAH , Blahh , Blah -BLAHHHH---( breathe / pause ) BLA BLAHHHH blah BLAHHH BLAHH BLAHHHH... pause / repeat ... why can’t people just be more authentic in their delivery , but emit more power behind the vocal , in a streamlined way that isn’t all over the place if you look at the sound levels / with all those iOS and downs ? Someone else needs to narrate that doesn’t enunciate with the sort of habits and speech patterns this dude has .. especially with the s’s. Those sounds are so so shrill & drawn Out & over the top loud and it’s all i can hear. And sometimes he’ll throw in a z sound or a zhhhahh sound where an s should be. And it pierces my ear drum and makes me neurologically so overly sensitive , the misophonia especially isn’t helping and I just and handle it. Would prefer without such loud music periodically , throughout .. I don’t mind that it’s there at all, just could be reduced a bit in volume. Too in ur face and intrusive almost .. the actual content and footage is beautifully done .. I just can’t handle this guy talking. I wish we could hear more ppl like George page or the dude who did the forensic files show , narrating .. they sounded authentic and direct without having to fixate on oh- I have to speak so slowly for the sake of doing some sing songy inflections within a documentary so many people get caught up in now days. Especially among those who try and come off all Edgy like they’re doing some stupid Hollywood typical block buster - in a wwwwwworlddddd ,.. etc. ppl too often narrating are just bad at reading script , period .. it’s not that hard. But one must have a voice suited for it and too many people attempt to pull it off mimicking other people and not being real. I can’t .. it takes away from it. Sorry , my condition (the misophonia) leaves me very sensitive beyond my control but I try.. its excruciating at times hearing certain inflections, tones and shrill sounds. Even when dude is falling off words like people for whatever reason typically do now days .. though he’s not overly loud , he still produces inflections and sounds that are off balance and too harsh or too quiet in the enunciation of everything at the tail end of any word ( Except s’s .. those are piercing & so elongated ) uh. Sorry. Beautiful video / footage & the narrative itself is good in terms of the script content.

Lovely photography, some actual observable science is recited. A fair amount of unproven, thus, pesudo-science in the form of evolution religious speculation is also. "We too, come from the water...blah blah blah...our cells were formed there, etc." None of it is proven. Just wild speculation. Lovely and worth the watch though. I prefer some great music instead of all that evolution psycho-babble though. Kinda like opining on black holes, Oort clouds and the mating rituals of gremlins.
