The Virunga Mountains are the embodiment of western fantasies about deep, dark Africa. Located at the very center of the continent, this string of volcanoes straddles the western branch of a huge system of cliff-bounded valleys known as the Great African Rift. It’s also home to some of the world’s most iconic animals - including the African great apes.

Why do they say it's difficult for tribes to survive in forest, to get food? That's nonsense! Tell that to the San Bushmen who survived well in the desert! This forest is a paradise! All you need is a bit of knowledge.

May be referring to shrinking habitats, poaching, deforestation and conversely, humans intruding into their home spaces to claim food sources that were once available in abundance decades ago. That will lead to less prey which directly affects predators ability to survive. At least that’s my take on it.

The place has probably been hunted out. They kill all of them in one area, then they go on to another and take that place’s animal’s out. That’s why many pioneers left Missouri, because there wasn’t hardly any animals left to eat!

the volcano erupts and all the village people lose everything while the tribe people were about to move anyway...I'm not so sure I buy that the pygmies are so little because they've evolved with a smaller available amount of food
