The history of Harry Potter games shows how the evolution of Hogwarts went through the years. Comparing every Harry Potter game is not an easy task, but it is quite fascinating to see the differences.
And Harry Potter video games gave us the opportunity to explore this iconic castle, but Hogwarts was never the same. In every game it was evolving and changing its layout. In this direct comparison to all of the Harry Potter games we are taking a look at the evolution of Hogwarts.

Obviously hogleg version is the most epic, detailed n sophisticated but i would want 2 point out that hpotter 5 version is just really special n nostalgic 4me. Cheers from Ukraine! Btw, u r also fellow Ukrainian if im not mistaken, right?) I think i saw u mention it in past vids. Let me know) luv the quality n editing of ur vid, smooth n just a delight2watch. Hogwarts legacy was the only thing ive ever touched in the harry potter universe. i was a bit older when all the harry potter stuff came out so i never got into it but geez! was Hogwarts legacy a masterpiece!...loved it.

Man this video made me remember the countless hours I spent exploring hogwarts on buckbeak's back on the ps2's Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban game, Thx! Playing this game with its amazing music and the similarities with my favourite film remains one of the best time I've ever had till this day :)

Apart from the grand staircase the Hogwarts Legacy design is the best, imo. But going so far from the original design of the movies and games with the grad staircase made me feel I was missing a whole wing of the castle while playing! Where is the staircase that randomly changes where it goes??? It was so whimsical and magical. The round design looks fancy, sure, but it doesn’t have the same energy of a nearly sentient castle.

Wonderful video! I love seeing all the changes through the years! I remember loving the 3 and 5 games. I will never forget playing sorceres stone on pc for the first time. Special times! Love the comparison between older games and legacy. I just will never understand those folks who liked the lego games, i couldn't get into it.

Thank you! Loved making it! I think the current castle is the pinnacle of Hogwarts of our time, but where they can go further is add more layers of interactivity and functionality to it, which will ultimately revitalize the castle even more

I haven't even played Hogwarts Legacy and I know right away that it has my favourite version of Hogwarts, period. Certain areas, like the Hospital Wing, the Great Hall and the Gryffindor Common Room are very much like how I imagine them when I read the books, especially with their size. And it genuinely makes me want to live there.

hello benjamin snow, you may not know me but i am another harry potter fan just like you and of what i have to say is amoung the evolution of hogwarts i think you missed another aspect of hogwarts to know is hogwarts and the reason i bring this up is because each game respective represents a set of years like in harry’s timeline he starts off in the year of 1991, for hogwarts mystery in this timeline starts in the year of 1984 to 1990 and each on in every on in harry’s timeline is how began every time during the evolution in the games of these years corresponding each game: sorcerer’s stone 1991, chamber of secrets 1992, prisoner of azkaban 1993, goblet of fire 1994, order of the phoenix 1995, half blood prince 1996 and both deathly hallows 1997/1998. as for hogwarts legacy that’s set in the late 19 century on the year of 1890 1891 and in the years of magic awakened that’s set in the year of 2008 to 2014 and for me i would attend hogwarts right around 2005 and that puts me in the evolution of magic awakened of 2008 when i would be a fourth year, for me i don’t last long til 2014, i last there til 2011 and leave in the year of 2012 so i would be in the paper evolution of magic awakened up until magic awakened’s year four then magic awakened’s year five i leave and this is what i would want you to know based on not just the evolution but just the years span of these games setted in the year of when it began.

I would like, in general, an expansion of the game world. We were shown a lot of Hogwarts, but we didn’t see other schools or the magical world in general. I hope I’ll live to see such a game. P.S. I wonder what the name of the game will be, which will be about the entire magical world and not specifically about Hogwarts or Harry Potter. World of Wizards? New WoW? =-)

I'm so sad that legacy might actually be the final installment of the Harry potter games. The game included so much that there's really nothing else to do unless they release an updated version of the existing game. I was hoping for minor changes like a morality feature when doing the killing curse.

That’s a fair point! I think in next installment they will have to bring more life into these walls that are already detailed. Bring the story more intertwined in the castle itself.

@@BenjaminSnow I agree. The houses or common rooms have no relevence. The castle itself also has no secrets, although the attention to detail with the main hall decor and change of seasons was brilliant. The closest I got to the student experience was sneaking around the castle at night to find 1 demiguise statue.

The work with Hogwarts Legacy is, without a doubt, incredible. I never tire of walking around and admiring the country. Hoping that in the future they will give more depth to the game... I don't believe that anything really new will come in this first game, but I hope that the sequel will surpass itself. Hugs from Brazil.

I want to see other wizarding school for a change, there is a lot of po·ten·tial that don't have to deal with cannon sources or legend. Plus the Dev could fill in the blank themselves and change along with us.

Magic Awakened was release in summer 2023 worldwide. And Hogwarts Mystery was originally in my script, but then I had to take it out of the cut since it isn’t comparatively explorable

I don’t know why some comments think other schools are going to be as appealing as Hogwarts. They could be cool or even cooler than Hogwarts as devs have free will with schools that have never been visually realised befiore. But I think in our excited Harry Potter obsessed brains, we like the thought of these unseen, briefly mentioned characters, places. Bit sometimes these things don’t need to be fully realised, because they never had much relevance or prominence in the franchise. Let me tell you, if they mede a game called Durmstrang Legacy, it is not going to sell the same. The fans will love it somewhat if they enjoyed this games gameplay - but there’s not a connection or anything for us to explore that has anything to do with why we like this franchise. You aren’t going to be discovering anything you recognise or remember reading or seeing. It’s Harry Potter - the world that we’ve read, seen. It’s Hogwarts. Look at fantastic beasts films. Fan or not, they didn’t have the same reaction when it come to the settings. NY - an overplayed setting. It’s a magical city. But even seeing different countries of the wizarding world didn’t capture us the same. That’s why they shoehorned in Hogwarts by the 3rd film to get more familiarity (2nd film French aesthetic actually had something going for it) keep it in England. Keep it British. In the most non gatekeeping way. If anything, change the timeline. Add Diagon Ally. Add locations more prominent from the books and films. Set it in the 80s but from an unknown characters perspective (the player) occasionally getting side quests and story snippets of Harry’s parents mentioning things that have yet to happen.

You have a fantastic point here and I agree with you! Seeing other schools and regions will never feel the same as felt about Hogwarts. I keep asking myself the same question.. can there be a movie/series set in the Wizarding World without Hogwarts and be successful? And with the evidence we have so far it looks like it can’t. But at the same time, with a good story that can introduce us to the new region and/or school, I believe it is possible. But that movie/series has to treat that new region and or school if necessary, as if it’s a brand new intro into the Wizarding World. It’s all about the story. Cuz in deathly hallows, went the trio was camping out in the forests- I was so excited for them to got into all the different places and “see” new areas. Yet there was no Hogwarts.. but the stakes were high and it was all very interesting. But I’d be glad to debate on that because.. I’m interested in making fanfics in near future and I really want to find the formula where a brand new story in the Wizarding World “works” without Hogwarts.

I remember there was also a seperate Quidditch game for ps2, that one was fun as well. But yeah, overall I think that Hogwarts Legacy wins. It is a dream come true for any HP fan, finally being able to explore the castle in its most epic form.

@@BenjaminSnow yes, back then the games were so simple, it's nostalgia. You just put the game in a ps2 and that's about it. No stupid update, 1000 patches, and installing games from the internet. I really preferred the simple times
