It’s just to bad the NBA doesn’t really talk about their history to much. Part of the reason the NFL is so great is the history and how they tell the story of the league.
@thehwguy429327 күн бұрын
Yeah, unlike the NFL, the NBA doesn't acknowledge the ABA much outside of "they were a rival league that folded and merged with ours ". Like, all of the ABA records, awards, and greats will be soon lost to time; and the only ones who remember them are the ones who actually care to remember.

you know what’s missing to this perfect video? a bit more detail on the 2016 season. one of the best of all time. kobe’s retirement trip and 60 point final game, lebron’s comeback, best record of all time, greatest dunk contest of all time, a great all star weekend, the okc fallout at western conference finals against the warriors, a good draft class: brandon ingram, jaylen brown, buddy hield, jamal murray, sabonis, siakam. idk, it’s a great amount of coincidences in the same season
@coloureditz__78233 ай бұрын
that draft class doesn’t even come close to 2017 and 2018 and the only reason 2016 all star weekend is so good is because of the dunk contest but the all star game itself was mid asf, ppl only overhype it cus it was kobe’s last but the game itself wasn’t competitive at all, nostalgia blinds the hell out of ppl like you 😂🤦🏽♂️

Watching this made me feel like less defense is being played contrary to the narrative players are just getting better overall offensively. The offense part is true, but the lack of effort on the defensive side is just as obvious and contributes to the amount of points that are being scored today… Sincerely, someone who has no idea what they’re talking about
@ArmandoKozomara4 ай бұрын
Yeah Jordan and Kobe would average an easy 40 in today's game
@AB-sw4kb4 ай бұрын
Also, the illegal defense rule meant that teams had to play man. The 90s and early 2000s, where teams played "real defense," was dominated by iso scoring and individual shot creation. This highlights defensive effort, since you actually got to see one-on-one defensive matchups way more. The offensive player still decided to shoot the contested shot. Nowadays, players give the ball up, team runs multiple actions in the same possession, and the floor is so spread now that a defender has to be able to guard all three levels of the floor AND guard their man while playing the coach's defensive gameplan. Even if you dropped Scottie Pippen and Rasheed Wallace in today's NBA, they wouldn't always get to showcase their defense because the player they're guarding would give the ball up, and probably run a play to empty one side of the floor, get somebody down hill, look for pin-downs, backdoor cuts, and open shooters, rather than just play one-on-one from the elbow.
