I always thought the 210 was 10 horse. In my experience, the 212 is very common. It and the 214 were probably the most popular.

I have a 212 with hydraulic lift, '78 I believe. Runs awesome, I run a Brinley plow and double extended tiller for the garden. I run the snow blower in the winter on huge drifts and it does great. I have the belly mount angle grader blade that I've used on my gravel driveway. And I just got a front mount 540 pto drive that I haven't thought of what I'm going to use it for yet. Before this one I had an 82 210 that I plowed snow with for 10 years and that was a good old tractor too. Thanks for the video.

I disagree, on not wanting to go back to the 200 series, after owning 300 series. I still have both, and still love both.

My neighbor has a 317 sitting in his barn rn w all the implements on it. Wheel weights for my 212. I wonna get the whole lot to flip cuz I have no need for anything bigger than a 200 series. I’m not mowing grass at all w them, & if I do I’ll be getting a zero turn or fixing my 212 to do so. 200s are good pullers. When my 212 was mowing grass I noticed that it has a terrible turning radius. And I was constantly switching from forward to reverse quite often. I might try the 317 but I’ll probably just flip it unless my dad wants it with the tiller attachment.

I had trouble getting parts for my off brand riding mower so I decided to look at used John Deere. The parts guy at the shop told me he can always get parts so I started looking at older John Deere. An auction from dealer in OH had three non-running machines for sale, AS IS. I figured since they were all 210 ,212, 214, I could at least swap parts and have one good running machine. The bidding started at $50 and was creeping up about $10-25 at a time. I got fed up with the hassle of checking all the time and decided to wait till two days before the end of auction and make my final bid. Two days for closing I saw the bids were still creeping up at a slow pace. At that time it was about $450. I posted $600 and forgot about it cause I was sure someone would outbid me. NOPE evidently my high bid spooked the others, made them think I was going to go as high as I had to and they gave up. A few days later I received email informing me I had won. Wow, so I had to rent a 6x12 trailer and go after them. I live in south central WI. That was the start of my appreciation of the 200's. I started on the 212. The belts in the mower deck were rusted to the pulleys, had to soak with penetrating oil and pry off with screwdriver. Emery cloth cleaned up the pulleys, I choked when I learned how much new pulleys cost. Needed bearings and paint too so I did the whole thing while it was torn down. Changed the fluids to synthetic, did tune up and the beast ran like new. In the meantime I also looked at other used 200's just to see what was out there. Then I started seeing them on marketplace. Some were, "parts only". I feared the guy was going to scavenge all the goodies and junk the chassis so I offered to buy the whole thing. He was glad to have it gone. Evidently some guys just don't see the good of working on an old one when it starts to get rusty, and has faded paint. One guy posted two non running machines. A 210 and a 214. I told him it was a two hour drive to his place and offered $100. He accepted. While I was there, he offered an Ariens 8 horse walk behind snowblower for free. So we loaded it up. That was the best deal I every made! I have been buying up anything that seemed to have potential and now have two 210's that actually have a 10 HP engine. Three 212's, and two 214's. Three are operational and with a bit of luck I'll get a few more running before spring. I have a 212 chassis with no engine. Got that for $25, the guy just wanted it gone. Had one flat and three good tires. At a rummage sale there were mower decks for sale. I got a 38 inch for 210, a 42 inch for 212, and a big deck for a 314 for only $75.They were asking $150. I looked at them and started to leave so he made an offer I could not refuse. The 212 I bought first has mowed my 2 acre lot for three years now. I am so impressed with how rugged they are built. That frame is really rugged. Ill have a whole fleet of machines to leave my grandkids. I'm gonna have to start convincing them of their value.

What’s funny is that my 1982 212 has electric PTO. Or at least it did cuz the stock K301 was yanked out & Yanmar engine swapped. I plan on rebuilding the K301 & hopefully rebuilding my free 216 I’ve had for 2 years, but basically grabbed it just for the 16hp Kohler motor cuz they’re insanely rare. Edit: 216 has been torn apart for the good parts. Saved the hood, battery box, varriator, engine, transmission, fuel tank, & steering wheel. It was too far gone to save. Got it for the engine, & the transmission.

I see a ton of 210s in my area. I drove 1.5hrs to get my 216 parts tractor. I’ve had 2 212s the 2nd was a parts tractor I tore apart cuz it was too far gone. I’ve also torn down the 216 for the hood parts cuz it was too far gone too. Saved the K341, main reason for getting the tractor.

I don’t know where you got your information from, but the 210 never came with the 8 horse Kohler. The only machines that did were the 110 and the 200/208

Not able to get my 212 into neutral to push. I was just given this tractor 1981 212. Not sure where I should start to resolve this issue without making it worst. Thankyou

If you’re still having trouble with your tractor, I can tell you without a doubt that your issue is transmission related. More than likely blown detent springs, which is an extremely common issue with those Peerless 4 speeds. I’d also suggest resealing the transmission while you have it split (Deere still carries the seals needed for a 2300 series transaxle, thankfully)
