That was moving and humbling for me as a Christian. Often times, I try to go all intellectual with my persuasion that I actually miss the point of why I am even trying to communicate the Gospel. Grace is Godʼs means of converting the dead sinner, not manʼs reasoning. While it may be totally acceptable to use apologetics of all sorts when talking to someone about the Christian faith, it should never be primary in light of the Gospel. Christ is the only one who could truly effect change in a personʼs heart through His Holy Spirit. And God Himself knows what He is going to do with His redeemed ones; we just have to trust His ways. For our part, we are only asked to be faithful, humble, and obedient in evangelizing this dying world. Thank you for this video! This is greatly appreciated. God bless! #SoliDeoGloria

Very true! Many times, we get busy trying to think of "intelligent" ways to preach the Gospel. When we begin to focus on methods, rather than the Message itself, we're taking our focus off the Gospel's power unto salvation and focusing on ourselves. Really enlightening video.

Christ be with you you have not preached the Gospel until you say who will reap its reward of eternal life. Do not be deceived; *God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.* For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; *but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.* *And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.* (Gal 6:7-9) There are those who do not tell you the necessity to repent and obey the teachings of Christ to receive eternal life. Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son. If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting; for he who greets him shares his wicked work. (2 John 9-11) we have not believed anything unless we believe what Christ taught. God bless you

In this video Paul Washer makes great points in sharing the Gospel... starting with 'who is God?' and the attributes of God. He makes an important point that man can't understand his sin problem until he understands who God is and how holy and righteous He is. Ideally we would want to establish God's Word as a necessary foundation in order to be able to answer important questions like 'who is God?'. By first demonstrating to the unbeliever how he cannot know absolute truth relying on man's word (his own understanding) will facilitate in demonstrating to him that truth can only be known thru God's revealed word. Now, at any point of your Gospel presentation, if the unbeliever starts to deny anything you share from the Bible, you can easily "shut him up" by reminding him that he's already acknowledged that he could be wrong using his "standard of truth".

You are deceived. The true gospel is the good news of the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, it is concerning who Christ is and what He did to save sinners. The gospel includes the how and why, which can only be seen by faith. It is a message that declares how the eternal Son of God came down, took on a body of sinless flesh (John 1:14) as He was born of a virgin (Mat 1:23). He was both God and man in one Person. He was born under the Law to keep and fulfill it (Mat 5:18, Gal 4:4). He did that, not for Himself, but for all those He represented because they could not keep it themselves. The word of God calls these people the elect or His sheep, among several other names. His obedient life also included the part of dying. He took on the sin of His people as both a Substitute and Representative of those people. The Bible said He was "made to be sin" (II Cor 5:21) and the way that was done is by God imputing (legally reckoned or charged to the account of) sin to Christ. That means all the sin of all those people God chose was "laid on Him" (Isaiah 53:6). This sin was legally transferred to His account and He then owned it in such a way to be guilty of it all. God the Father poured out His wrath and hatred toward sin on His Son and had pleasure (Isaiah 53:10) in doing so, in that, He was completely satisfied in Christ as a Sacrifice that met all the demands of His strict Law and inflexible justice. Christ finished the work of paying the penalty of the Law and then said " It is finished" (John 19:30). He secured salvation for all God’s chosen people that would even be born. His resurrection is evidence of the acceptance of His sacrifice to the Father. The combined work of His obedience to the Law and His obedience unto death on the cross was considered establishing righteousness. This is what one of the Old Testament prophets prophesied as "bringing in an everlasting righteousness" (Daniel 9:24) as Christ died effectually and exclusively for those chosen of God before the world began (Eph 1:4). This righteousness is what God imputes to His people in the context of giving the life to believe in Christ. This puts them in a state called "Justification" and as a result they are eternally secure, in Christ. This is the gospel (Rom 1:16-17). All this takes place in such a way to show God as both a God of justice and a Savior. This is how grace reigns through righteousness (Rom 5:21).

@robert punu I believe Paul Washer is preaching once you understand the Gospel that you live to serve the Lord as the Word of God says. And He died for all, so those who live shall no longer live for themselves but for the One who died and was raised again 2 Corinthians 5 15. Colossians 3 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you:sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in. God says we are to put off the old self and put on the new self because we have been justified and forgiven by God. We live holy not to attain salvation!! But because we have salvation and have been justified through the death of Jesus on the cross, burial and resurrection. Our lives are no longer for us but for Jesus because our lives are hidden in Him. Bless you

The word “repent” has to be understood within the context in which it is being used. In fact, very often, it should not even be translated “repent” because of the wrong preconditioned theological connotations this carries. It is a matter of what some would call, “illegitimate totality transfer.” This occurs when the meaning of a word in one passage is carried over to every other place the word occurs. The Greek word for “repent” is metanoia (noun) or metanoeo (verb). It basically means a change of mind and the context must determine what is involved in that change of mind. In passages where salvation is in view it is equivalent to believe or trust in and involves a change of mind about any form of self-trust in human works, good deeds, religious tradition, etc. followed by a trust in the finished work of Christ which alone has the power to save us. It means a turning from self-trust to trust in Christ. Believe and repent are never used together as if teaching two different requirements for salvation. When salvation from eternal condemnation is in view, repent (a change of mind) and believe are in essence used as synonyms. Lewis Chafer wrote: Too often, when it is asserted-as it is here-that repentance is not to be added to belief as a separated requirement for salvation, it is assumed that repentance is not necessary to salvation. Therefore it is as dogmatically stated as language can declare, that repentance is essential to salvation and that none could be saved apart from repentance, but it is included in believing and cannot be separated from it (Lewis Sperry Chafer, Vital Theological Issues, Roy B. Zuck, General Editor, Kregel, Grand Rapids, 1994, p. 119). Roy B. Zuck writes: Repentance is included in believing. Faith and repentance are like two sides of a coin. Genuine faith includes repentance, and genuine repentance includes faith. The Greek word for repentance (metanoia) means to change one’s mind. But to change one’s mind about what? About sin, about one’s adequacy to save himself, about Christ as the only way of salvation, the only One who can make a person righteous (“Kindred Spirit,” a quarterly publication of Dallas Seminary, Summer 1989, p. 5). In Luke’s rendering of the Great Commission he uses repentance as a single requirement in the same sense as believing in Christ (Luke 24:46-47). As Dr. Ryrie says of this verse, “Clearly, repentance for the forgiveness of sins is connected to the death and resurrection of Christ.” The repentance comes out of the recognition of one’s sin, but the object of repentance is the person and work of Christ, or faith in Christ. Interestingly, in Luke 8:12 he uses believe alone, “Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.” A comparison of other passages clearly supports the fact that repentance often stands for faith in the person and work of Christ. Compare Acts 10:43 with 11:17-18; 13:38-39 with 2:38. Also, note Acts 16:31 which uses “believe” alone. The stated purpose of the Gospel of John is to bring men to faith in Christ (20:31), yet John never once uses the word repent, not once. If repentance, when used in connection with eternal salvation, is a separate or distinct requirement from faith in Christ, then John does not give the whole gospel. And if you can believe that, you can believe anything. Speaking of the absence of John’s use of repent in His gospel, Ryrie writes: And yet John surely had many opportunities to use it in the events of our Lord’s life which he recorded. It would have been most appropriate to use repent or repentance in the account of the Lord’s conversation with Nicodemus. But believe is the word used (John 3:12, 15). So, If Nicodemus needed to repent, believe must be a synonym; else how could the Lord have failed to use the word repent when talking to him? To the Samaritan harlot, Christ did not say repent. He told her to ask (John 4:10), and when her testimony and the Lord’s spread to other Samaritans, John recorded not that they repented but that they believed (vss. 39, 41-42). There are about fifty more occurrences of “believe” or “faith” in the Gospel of John, but not one use of “repent.” The climax is John 20:31: “These have been written that you may believe . . . and that believing you may have life in His name.” (Charles C. Ryrie, So Great Salvation, Victor Books, p. 98). What about Acts 20:21? “… solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Some would say, “Doesn’t this passage teach that faith and repentance are not synonymous and that repentance is a separate requirement?” No! Paul is summarizing his ministry in Ephesus and what he solemnly proclaimed to both Jews and Greeks, specifically, repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. The two words, repentance and faith, are joined by one article in the Greek text which indicates that the two are inseparable, though each focuses on a different aspect of the one requirement of salvation, namely, faith in Christ. We can legitimately translate it like this. “Solemnly testifying … a change of mind about God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Repentance, metanoia, focuses on changing one’s mind about his previous conception of God and disbelief in God or false beliefs (polytheism and idolatry) about God (see 1 Thess. 1:9). On the other hand, belief in Christ, as an expression of a change of mind, focuses on the new direction that change about God must take, namely, trusting in Christ, God’s Son, as personal Savior

Next thing you'll be telling us that the apostle Paul repented or believed of his own free will hahaha silly Jesus going to all the trouble of blinding him and knocking him off his horse. The gospel Paul preached is defined only once in scripture,; namely that Christ died, was buried and rose again 1Corinthians 15:3,4 that's the gospel, full stop. One verse earlier he told the Corinth church they ARE saved by this gospel he preached to them. A few chapters later Paul corrects them for a list of sins common to most. Scripture declares all are saved by grace (undeserved kindness) alone : through is the word that precedes faith; not by. Jesus is the author and finisher of everyone's faith. "do not think more highly of yourself than you ought, rather judge yourself soberly according to the measure of faith GIVEN unto you" " a man can receive nothing lest it is GIVEN to him from heaven" (if you don't know the verses google them). Christ came and was sent to save everyone (sinners); that was his mission. Jesus is God John 1:1 ,"God is Love", and "love NEVER fails" . Stop! teaching that Jesus failed and therefore is a liar. Jesus's last words on the cross " it is finished"; what was?, his mission of course. Now you might get tempted to tell me about "hell" or unending punishment etc: "when God's judgements are in the land men learn righteousness"; judge us Lord I say; further if you do some study you will find the word hell does not appear even once in the original Hebrew or Greek testaments, rather only in mistranslations of scripture. Stop calling God a liar " no one is cast off by the Lord forever, though he brings grief he WILL have compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love" " As in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive" "mercy triumphs justice" "God is able to subdue all things to himself" "nothing is too hard for the Lord" "it is the will of God that all men be saved and change their mind and come to a knowledge of Jesus" "God will accomplish all that he wills" REPENT change your mind all those that preach another gospel of Christ "the Savior of the world" because you don't know him, He is love and love never fails Amen

nev billett Hi Nev. I hope your day has gone great. I just wanted to address something in your comment. I could be completely misunderstanding you, and I’m very sorry if I am. But are you saying that God will forgive everyone, or that all people will be saved? This is the main view that Pastor Washer addressed in this video. God is just. He cannot forgive sinners that do not have a savior. Because death is the penalty for sin, God in his justice has to punish sin. That is why Jesus Christ came into the world - out of his great love, he came “to seek and save the lost”. On the cross, Jesus paid the price for our sin by taking the punishment that we deserved. If someone has not believed in Jesus Christ, then they cannot be forgiven because of God’s justice. There is no righteousness to be credited to the one who does not believe in Jesus Christ. There is also much scripture stating that not everyone will be saved. A quick internet search should do the job. I hope this helps a little bit. If you have any questions, feel free to reply. Hope you have a great day!

@@jonathanhumphries172 I also had that issue with this comment. God is Judge and Saviour. A perfect judge that has to punish sin, and a perfect saviour that has to save the sinner. Believing and receiving the salvation offered by God in Christ is the only way to escape judgement. While we do not preach hell as the main focus of the gospel, we cannot ignore it. Knowing the terror of God, we persuade men. Be ye reconciled to God! For God was in Christ reconciling the world into himself, not wanting that anyam should perish. God has done his part. It's our duty to carry out the ministry of reconciliation by telling the world of the finished work of Christ. Anyone who believes is translated into the kingdom of light and anyone who doesn't, is under the wrath of God.

So when I ask her about God, she believes God is the universe, she doesn't believe God is a person, she knows of Jesus but doesn't believe what he did, she says men wrote the bible and she can't believe how God could inspire men to write the Bible. She chooses what she believes about Christianity but not what is the most important. I have been praying for her for years, not sure what to do anymore. She believes in reincarnation.

Maybe I misunderstood, but did he say if they didn't change for Christ when he talked with them then they will never change? Does he not consider he might just be planting a seed? Seeds take time to grow don't they? " The sower went out to sow."

He is saying if they only "change" for the short time but never go forward with repentence and belief, meaning they continue in sin without remourse and never try to cultivate a true relationship with God, then it was never a true conversion. He could be planting seeds yes but if it never gets roots then it will not be. He is most likely refering to Christians who believe that because they said one prayer and believed they are saved at one time that they can continue living as they had because they are all "good" with god. It isnt about whether or not he converted them but whether they truly believe and now live their life differently in because they can no longer see sin the same. Hope I exolained it well.

We can get physical baptized because we’re Saved. Not to be saved. That would be adding to the finished work of Jesus Christ. Get this right! Ephesians 1:13 Ephesians 2 8-10. In Jesus Name ❤️🙏

I think you misunderstood. Ive watched several of his videos and he never says we are saved through our works. What he is saying that when we truly believe and repent, as in changing our mind about god and sin, we will naturally change for we cannot live they way we used when we truly see the beauty of God and what he has done for us. Works arent a requirement but a natural progression. It isnt a earning it is a passion to please our lord and live the best we can by his commandments.

This is interesting, and shows the two different dividing lines created by Calvinism and lordship salvation. Washer is a Calvinist and I'm not, but we're both lordship salvationists. I want to hear what Washer had to say about this, and I agree with the non-Calvinist subset of what he said. (Actually, there was no Calvinism in anything he says here. God is holy. Man is sinful. We love the lost recipient of the Gospel, *(but God probably doesn't, if Calvinism is true, but Washer doesn't mention that).* What Jesus has done for "us". Who is "us"? *(Only the elect, if Calvinism is true, but Washer doesn't mention that).* "Repent and believe". I completely agree with this because Washer and I agree on what "repent" means, and I'm sure of that because Washer goes on to teach lordship salvation in the final point, that if someone merely hears the message and believes it for the moment but it makes no change in his life, he didn't get saved. This places me with Washer on the important question of denying momentary faith leading to irrevocable salvation. Thus, it is interesting that I agreed with everything Washer said in this video, and in his "essentials of the gospel" there was nothing Calvinistic.

1. Every one is a sinner Rom 3:10: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one Rom 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God 2. Every one deserves to go to hell Rom 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rev 20:14-15: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 3. Jesus died on the cross for us so we could be saved (the events of the cross, the blood, the death, burial, and resurrection) Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 1 Pet 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 4. You must believe on Jesus Christ as your only way to heaven Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 5. When you believe on Jesus Christ, God gives you eternal life (Rom 6:23) (illustration: receiving a gift: explain eternal security in detail) Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Questions 1. Do you believe that you have sinned? 2. Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for YOUR sins and rose again from the dead? 3. If you were to ask Jesus to save you right now would he do it? 4. How long would you be saved for? If understood "Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I know I deserve to go to hell. But I believe that you died on the cross for my sins. Please save me and take me to heaven when I die. I'm trusting only you, Jesus. Amen." (You were searching for the calvinism in this: it was in the "repent" and "do works to show salvation". In this presentation it was muted, but the lack of emphasis on believe-and-be-saved is a consequence of emphasising works.)

It is not necessary to believe in predestination, or the elect, to be saved. The Gospel is neither Calvinistic nor anti-calvinistic. Salvation does not depend on what one believes about Calvinism, or doesn't believe about Calvinism, but what one believes about God, who He is, and man, what our condition is before God, and God's justice needing to be satisfied. None of that mentions what happened before the foundation of the world. Praise God!

there is no such thing as a "sinner's prayer" in Scripture and it is wrong to lead people to believe that there is and to participate. You do a great disservice when you emphasize "believe and be saved." Believe what? Saved from What? God doesn't not emphasize "believe and be saved" in scripture. Neither should we.

You are leaving out the important part about who God is and who we are in relationship to a Holy God. Leaving that out results in a false conversion where everything is pie in the sky as long as we love Jesus. Jesus said if you love Me you will keep my commandments. There is so much more to being a Christian life than what is portrayed in what you have written. Not sure why you felt the need to correct what was already clearly spelled out.

The Gospel: the restoration of a man/woman back to the image of God. Yay! Jesus/God gave us back the divine life Adam let go off. C'mon Jesus!! I always start with the fall. "Just look around you, wars, sicknesses, death, egoism, lusts, manipulation, etc, etc. Where you think that came from? That is the fall of man. But now the good part. God stooped down as Christ to give us back the divine life mankind lost in the fall. Freely, by His Spirit. Because He loves what He created us to be. Do you want to become a new creation? A partaker of the divine nature again?". If they say: Yes. I ask Holy Spirit to come and take them in as a son or daughter, change them in to their original identity, make them Christlike again for free. Some get healed instantly, or wobly on their feet, or demons come out, but the look in their eyes afterwards says it all. Innocense. If they say: "no" or, "get lost you morron"? No problem. God loves them. They may come around later. Just touching and speaking truth to people in love. Especcially Christians have a hard time with this. They are so trained in why God hates, doesn't heal, whatever. Whatever. But it is the simplicity of the Gospel: Christ in us for free. Yay! Jesus is amazing.

If you asked Washer that directly; He would disagree with your statement. Its about freedom in Christ through His work on the cross. (Think Galatians 5) Eternal salvation cant be reduced down to a string of words, a formula or frankly, anything you can do. Has the Spirt come to dwell? If it has, there WILL be a change... and not through their doing but by the Spirts doing. A heart "litmus test" I have asked before; Does your sin break you? If you say no, I wouldn't say your not saved, as I have no idea what your souls status is nor does Washer (only God does) but I know your flesh should be dying and the Spirt should be leading you toward that, if you have time. (Think Romans 6 and James 2) Without a noticeable change in our thoughts and actions, how could we know? Don't we want assurance don't we need assurance in this place? look to John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” Did the man hanging on the cross next to Jesus have time to change his life in the way you may be thinking? Yet, what did Christ tell him?

@@SniffingOutPharisees-DanielP I understand an argument against Lordship salvation and I agree 100% we are not saved by works. However, what do you do with James 2? “What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “A ND A BRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,” and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? @@dr.chadeverettd.c.6604 Faith without works is dead? Sure. You can possess a dead, unfruitful faith. Did James say salvation without works is dead? No. James 2:14: “What doth it PROFIT, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?” Titus 3:8: “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and PROFITABLE unto men.” Do you see the word PROFIT in those two verses? Works are for a PROFIT. They are not done as proof of salvation, to be saved, or maintain salvation.

Have any of you thanked Jesus Christ for paying for your sins? Or are you having secret doubts about whether or not you can fulfill Washer's twelve proofs that you are "maybe" saved? If you haven't thanked Jesus for your salvation, then you don't really believe that through him God has imputed his righteousness onto you. You have doubts because you are trusting in your imperfect works and you have no trust in Christ's payment for your sins. You in essence are saying that Christ's payment for our sins is not true and you go on to establish your own righteousness before God. If so, then God will judge you by your works, since you don't rely on Christ completely . Since you rely on your works, they will fall short of God's sinless perfection and be condemned forever.

The author of 1 John also assumes that christians will fall into sin (1:9) but at the same time assume that christians will confess (and repent) of their sin. An unbelievers life will be marked with continous sin without repentance or recognition of its offense while a christian's life will be marked with repentance and confession.

Explain to me the statement, "The writers of the New Testament didn't dumb down the gospel"? Who speaks in such terms? This kind of statement seems to imply that this speaker believes that men somehow authored the scriptures. If a man or woman doesn't recognize the authority of scriptures, then how can they ever believe the God's good news of salvation? "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 Paul, you and others seem fond of the word "crushed" seemingly to apply to Jesus' experience on the cross, yet there seems to be no such verse using that word as applicable to Him.

Jesus can save us from our sin; He will not save us in our sin. We are all sinners in need of God’s mercy. We’ll enter His promised mercy if we’ll obey God by coming to Him in repentance: ⚫ “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent” (Acts 17:30) ⚫ “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13; Isaiah 55:7) Then we’ll have our past sins “blotted out.” We’ll have redemption - through Jesus’ death and blood - from the death penalty we had earned (Romans 6:23). Jesus died to make His death and blood *_available_* to cover our sins -if we’ll come to Him in repentance: ⚫ “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19, NKJV. We’ll have “remission of sins that are past” (Romans 3:25); we’ll be “purged” of our “old sins” (2 Peter 1:9). ⚫ “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Titus 2:14) And we’ll receive the gift of the holy spirit: ⚫ “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) ⚫ “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” (Acts 5:32) Through the holy spirit, we enter “the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). Jesus will help us overcome slavery to sin, and will lead us into His righteousness . . . IF we’ll abide in Him in repentance: ⚫ “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Jesus, in Revelation 3:19) A relationship with Him ⚫ “yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby” (Hebrews 12:11). ⚫ “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:7) He is the potter; we are the clay. He cannot work with us if we are not in repentance. Through Him we can overcome slavery to sin, and grow in love for God and neighbor. He will prepare us for eternal life as the Father's sons and daughters. While we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we remain in *justification* -not under condemnation: ⚫ “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1) Justification and salvation are different things, at different times: ⚫ “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (the apostle Paul, in Romans 5:9) “Through Him” - while we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit - we remain “in His goodness” or grace (Romans 11:22). And we have “the hope of salvation” -the promised gift of eternal life, to be received at Jesus’ “revelation,” His return: ⚫ “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9; also Acts 15:11 and Romans 5:9). ⚫ “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life” (1 John 2:25). ⚫ “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” (1 Peter 1:13; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). While we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, Jesus intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25). He continues to cover new sins with His blood, which He made available on the cross: ⚫ “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7) What happens if we choose to return to a life of unrepentant, willful sin -no longer abiding in Jesus and no longer following the holy spirit? ⚫ “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” (Hebrews 10:26,27) ⚫ “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” (Jesus, in John 15:6) ⚫ “Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans 11:22) Judgment is on “the house of God” right now (1 Peter 4:17). ⚫ “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.” (Hebrews 4:1) ▬ “Once saved, always saved”? Of course not; here’s why: 1.) We’re not saved yet: Jesus said we must “endure to the end” before we’re saved (Matthew 10:22). During this mortal life we have “the hope of salvation” (1 Thessalonians 5:8,9). We won’t be saved until we receive eternal life at His return. Then we’ll have eternal security, always saved. Short of actually receiving eternal life, we will surely perish -very much unsaved. 2.) In this mortal life we may enter justification - and have “the hope of salvation” - but we can fall away from justification and be “cut off.” No longer “in His goodness” or grace, we’ll forfeit that “hope of salvation.” We have many warnings not to fall away, and to “give diligence to make your calling and election sure” (2 Peter 1:10,11) . . . for good reason! The apostle Paul had the holy spirit, and understood that even after preaching to others he could possibly return to a life of sin and therefore be rejected, a “castaway”: ⚫ “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1 Corinthians 9:27) ▬ “Saved by faith alone”? Obviously not. Here’s why: 1.) Salvation is by grace. Grace is received *_“through_* faith” (Ephesians 2:8) . . . not just because we *_have_* faith. What do I mean by *_"through"_* faith? It is faith that shows us the choice - and the need - to “come to God” (Hebrews 11:6) in repentance, confessing and forsaking sin. If we’ll obey and *_do that_* we’ll enter his promised mercy and grace (Proverbs 28:13; Isaiah 55:7) . . . and our past sins will be “blotted out” (Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:9; Romans 3:25; 2 Peter 1:9) . . . and we’ll receive the gift of the holy spirit (Acts 2:38; Acts 5:32) . . . by which we enter "the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). "Through" faith we see the need to come to God. "Faith alone" is not enough: we must "come to God" on His terms to please Him (Hebrews 11:6) and enter His promised mercy and grace. Otherwise our faith is dead. Without faith, we don't "see" we have a choice -to come to God, or, to walk away -and we would not come to God: ⚫ "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6) 2.) “Faith alone” is not enough: Jesus is “. . . the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:9). Outside of repentance - confessing and forsaking sin - we receive no mercy and will perish, just as Jesus, Peter and Paul warned (Luke 13:5; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Corinthians 9:27). 3.) True *_believers_* are those who - like Abraham - *_act on their faith and obey God_* (James 2:20-24; 1 Peter 2:7). Otherwise, they are not believers; their faith is dead. 4.) Jesus did not tell His disciples to preach “faith alone.” He told them to preach “repentance and remission of sins”: ⚫ “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:45-47)

WARNING Calvinism confuses and overcomplicates the gospel with man-made philosophy. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. I'll believe Paul from the Bible, not Paul the Washer away of the simple gospel. Scary. Are these steps true? Yes. But adding steps to all the times the Bible says "believe" is not truly lovingly sharing the gospel. Stay true to the Bible, God's Word. Paul Washer believes in works-based salvation. Should we change and turn from sin? YES! But this is service and obedience to our savior. If you rely on how you act after your are saved to keep your salvation, you are relying on yourself and not on Christ.

Christ be with you 1 Cor 15:1-4 is not the complete Gospel that is the part of first importance of the full Gospel previously preached, as it says it is. saying, “The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. (Luke 9:22-24) you have not preached the Gospel until you say who will reap its reward of eternal life.

@@MrKev1664 Hello I feel concern in adding to something that Paul himself called the gospel. Was he wrong? 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. There is only one gospel and they originally received it from Paul. 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. Paul did not mention eternal life, even though this is a key to understanding the gospel, but he called 1-4 (and went on to list witnesses) the gospel in this passage, he was not wrong. don't add righteousness, don't add into the gospel. 2 John 9-11. The doctrine of Christ is faith in Christ alone. Whoever transgresses that, does not have the Father or the Son. Scripture is consistent and does not contradict itself. John 3:16-18 etc. He that DOES NOT believe is condemned. Don't add to it, don't change it. Don't remove from it. People do need context to understand the gospel. We are all sinners. We have fallen short, and need God's grace and forgiveness. But Pual is explicit to what the gospel is. Once we believe in Jesus we have eternal life. If this was not true, scripture would not clearly repeat this over and over. There is the gospel. Then there is a deeper relationship with Christ, a deeper faith. Then there is studying and understanding the gospel. There is a difference between new babes in Christ, and those who study the sincere Word, the meat. There is a difference between salvation and service. Once adopted into the family, God does not boot out His children, but He does punish them. Praise Jesus every day.

@@goodshorts Christ be with you My response is long because I have included almost all the scripture referenced so you know what I say is true. *You say* feel concern in adding to something that Paul himself called the gospel. Was he wrong? 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. There is only one gospel and they originally received it from Paul. *Response* St Paul did not say this was the Gospel/ He declare the Gospel he previously preached then gives the just the first part or the part of most importance because without Christ sacrifice 1 Moreover, brethren, *I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,* which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 *For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,* how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Now I ask you a more important question was Jesus wrong or are you saying lied. You seen to have ignored his word completely Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. And he said to them all, *If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.* For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. (Luke 9:22-24) Jesus tells us if *any man* wants to follow him into the resurrection they must pick up their cross and follow him and he does not lie and he is never wrong, *You say* Paul did not mention eternal life, even though this is a key to understanding the gospel, but he called 1-4 (and went on to list witnesses) the gospel in this passage, he was not wrong. *Response* St Paul tells us of eternal life here, why are you mocking God. Be not deceived; *God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.* For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; *but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.* And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Gal 6:7-9) *You say* don't add righteousness, don't add into the gospel. *Response* That wasn’t me that was Jesus and St Paul. *You say* 2 John 9-11. The doctrine of Christ is faith in Christ alone. Whoever transgresses that, does not have the Father or the Son. Scripture is consistent and does not contradict itself. *Response* I suggest you read it then St John tells us what Christ’s doctrine is, you don’t get to make this up for yourself. And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. (2 John 5-6) St Paul tells us how this doctrine is fulfilled (Rom 13:8-10) *You say* John 3:16-18 etc. He that DOES NOT believe is condemned. *Response* I suggest you read more than proof texts. Try reading down to verse 21 We see that the believers are those who turn from darkness and sin to the light and do works of God. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. *And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.* For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. *But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.* (John 3:16-21) *You say* Don't add to it, don't change it. *Response* No St Paul did not give us the complete Gospel He does not get to overrule Jesus and neither do you *You say* There is the gospel. Then there is a deeper relationship with Christ, a deeper faith. Then there is studying and understanding the gospel. There is a difference between new babes in Christ, and those who study the sincere Word, the meat. *Response* Sorry no a deeper relation come by obeying the commandment and teachings of Jesus Christ. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:20-21) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (John 14:23-24) Notice how this agrees completely with what St John teaches in 2 John 9-11 *You say* There is a difference between salvation and service. *Response* Sorry that is false as you have been shown there is no salvation without service (Gal 6:7-9) That is just mocking God *You say* Once adopted into the family, God does not boot out His children, but He does punish them. Praise Jesus every day. *Response* Baptism is the first stage of us becoming Children of God but St Paul tells us this process is not complete but something we hope for. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. *For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.* For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, *even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.* *For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?* But if we hope for that we see not, *then do we with patience wait for it.* St John does tell us how we can know we are Gods Children. *In this the children of God are manifest,* and the children of the devil: *whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother. (1 John 3:10) And God will cut of those that do not produce fruit. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. *Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away:* and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. *If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.* (John 15:1-6) I really suggest you read scripture and not just proof test. Come to Christ

He does not believe in works based salvation. I have no idea why people keep saying that. He doesnt believe you can earn your way to heaven through your works but that by believing and repenting you naturally change your ways because you want obey God and because you love him. If anything he believes any good works you do is through God and God alone and all credit should go to God and not yourself or man.

If Paul Washer thinks he needs to live a changed life to prove salvation, he is hellbound. He puts himself under the whole law when he does that. One sin and he's toast. Belief that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and rose on the third day is all that is required for salvation. Repenting of sin is something saved Christians do AFTER salvation to show obedience to God and strengthen fellowship. It has nothing to do with salvation. Paul has placed himself under the whole law and he will not be saved by the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Paul is preaching works for salvation.

@@essievandbroek Yup. I know what Paul Washer meant. He is wrong. I suggest reading what the apostle Paul had to do when it came to guiding saved Christian's through their Christian walk. He regularly had to revisit Christian's that he had saved after hearing they hadn't repented of their sins. These Christians were saved and still sinning. They weren't living "changed lives" like Paul Washer claims is proof of salvation. These Christians were still saved. They still went to heaven. That means a changed lifestyle doesn't prove salvation. A changed lifestyle is simply obeying God in your Christian walk. Keeping fellowship with the Lord. Carrying your cross. It has nothing to do with salvation. Or knowing you're saved. The word Repenting in the Gospel means changing your mind from whatever you once believed, to believing Jesus is Lord and died for your sins. I hope that clears it up for ya.

@@Who_can_save_you_from_hell Walking in the Spirit every day will certainly make your earthly walk easier. God chastise his children when they sin (Heb 12:7). But salvation has nothing to do with the walk. Salvation is a gift from God ( Eph 2 8:9) . People try mixing the earthy Christian walk in with Salvation as one doctrine not realizing they are two separate things. For example, James is talking about the Christian walk. He's saying if we don't act like Christians we won't bear fruit for the Lord. We'd be dead branches because we wouldn't be bearing fruit. We'd still go to heaven. We just wouldn't bear fruit on earth. Hence : faith without works is dead. You won't win anyone to the Lord if you aren't showing your faith.

Paul Washer endorses everything below for he IS A CALVINIST through and through. Cover word "Reformed Theology" Reformed Theology = is Calvinism John Calvin says of his god...... “thieves and murderers, and other evildoers, are instruments of divine providence, being employed by the Lord himself to execute judgments which he has resolved to inflict.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 1, Chapter 17, Paragraph 5) “The devil, and the whole train of the ungodly, are in all directions, held in by the hand of God as with a bridle, so that they can neither conceive any mischief, nor plan what they have conceived, nor how muchsoever they may have planned, move a single finger to perpetrate, unless in so far as he permits, nay unless in so far as he commands, that they are not only bound by his fetters but are even forced to do him service” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 1, Chapter 17, Paragraph 11) John Piper says of his god..... "God . . . brings about all things in accordance with his will. In other words, it isn’t just that God manages to turn the evil aspects of our world to good for those who love him; it is rather that he himself brings about these evil aspects for his glory (see Ex. @-16; John 9:3) and his people’s good (see Heb. 12:3-11; James 1:2-4). This includes-as incredible and as unacceptable as it may currently seem-God’s having even brought about the Nazis’ brutality at Birkenau and Auschwitz as well as the terrible killings of Dennis Rader and even the sexual abuse of a young child . . . EVERY CALVINIST I HAVE TALKED TO says the same. Including Paul Washer .......John MacArthur, Sproul, White and a whole lot of other modern heretics. Jews thought salvation was only for them as the elect nation of God and could be achieved through works of the law. Calvinists think salvation is only for them as the Augustinian-elect of God. Ironically they both have the same elitist objections and can’t stand the fact that salvation is freely and genuinely offered to all through faith. Calvinists can even see the similarity between themselves and the Jews who boasted of their election. The irony is literally staggering. Calvinists are the 21st century Pharisees. Calvinism: Satan's way of unloading his responsibility for what he has done in this world and placing it on God.."God predetermined everything and caused everything including evil" If God predetermined everything..that means everything!! And so Calvinism places the blame of anything evil on God.. That is blasphemy..They follow a false god that is responsible for evil. I mean really?!? God gets glory by purposefully creating creatures that are intended to burn and suffer in unfathomably painstaking eternal torment as a way for Him to have glory? My God ( who is the only true God) says it like this. Acts 2 :21And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off-.... 1 Timothy 2 : 3-6 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.Paul Washer is very careful not to allow a sound bite out that could expose him as obvious as John Piper or MacArthur do. But just the same listen to this: Paul Washer states, “You cannot rely on the testimony of Calvin alone…." Calvin under his reign of terror in Geneva had over 60 people burned at the stake for disagreeing with his teachings. He tortured people etc. This is common knowledge. Calvin zealously sought to murderously enforce his own laws to his own dogmatic, egotistic ends. Reformed teachers know the knee jerk reaction people can have with reformed theology plainly and honesty spoken so they couch their words. But at the end of the day the message is John Calvin. This presentation is incomplete. First, the death of Jesus Christ was not an atonement, but a propitiation, for sin. Atonement only covered sin. In fact, it memorialized it. Christ took away sin forever. Secondly, and more importantly, is that the Resurrection is salvation. The problem between man and God is not that we are sinners in need of forgiveness. The problem is that we are spiritually dead to God and in need of His life.Once we receive His life and are born again, there is no sin that will cause His life to leave us because of the eternal forgiveness the Lord purchased for us at the cross. One does not need to have this understanding to be saved, but not understanding it will make your growth in Christ nearly impossible.

You are lost and so is paul washer.

Yet another cleverly repackaged version of faith plus works equals salvation nonsense here.

Only ONE gospel. All others are false gospels. What he is preaching is the true gospel. Following any other will not lead to heaven but through the wide gate and onto the path to destruction.

You are confusing the four "gospels" - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, with the Gospel of God, the truth that, when heard and used by God the Holy Spirit, at the appointed time, transforms our stony hearts to hearts of flesh. The "true" gospel is what Washer was talking about, not the false gospels that teach that we earn our way to heaven by good works, or some other man-made design. The fact that you cannot hear and understand the Word of God would indicate that you have not yet been born again and therefore would have no spiritual understanding of the truth of God.
