Sersi turning a card into Arishem will do nothing. His effect is start of game. It's like getting a Thanos won't stick Infinity Stones into your deck.

Yeah Sersi on Doctor Doom would be a guaranteed 5 -> 7 power increase, with Sersi would total a 5 energy and 9 power. Pretty bad. The average on Brood is better, three 4 drops is like +9 power compared to the broodlings.

One thing about Phastos, each card in your deck will be looked at and then get one of the options. It won't pick an option first then give that to all cards in your deck. Some people may not know this, but it has been verified by Glenn Jones.

Phastos is going to be crazy powerful! You get reduced cost or extra power, and both are great, but that's for the whole deck! And at a 3 cost he would be great in a Silver Surfer deck but he can work in anything. His ability is so OP😂

Why would it just be one? It's obvious it's a coin flip for EACH card. It says reduced cost OR extra power for EACH card in your deck.

Edited: You guys talked it in the video. Yes! Super giant on turn 4, turn 5 (hide) gilgamesh so then on 6 you can play spectrum or hide absorbing man on 5 then gilgamesh on 6. Yes in the video, glad you guys talled bout it. I agree.

How many ongoings are you going to play on turns 1-3 to buff with Spectrum? 3 if you hit your curve. Honestly, getting +3 on Gilgamesh is not that exciting.

No. You want to use that extra energy to play good cards if possible. If Arishem gives you an Adam Warlock he might not be completely terrible if you absolutely have to play him that's as far as I'd go on that.

Phastos - the uncertainty it gives the other player will be huge. I hear Alex's complaint about randomness but that lack of predictability is important for cube rate. As Cozy said, it is a card that desperately needs to hit on 3 and that's the weak spot. But if it does it is pretty huge. Think of Pixie, dudes. ETA - oh gods yeah, this is a Thanos card, of course it is.

Looks like Alex just wanted to find something bad about the card, because in reality, the randomness doesn't matter! If the deck is built properly, either -1 cost or +2 power is HUGE for a lot of cards! We can complain about something like that when we talk about Pixie, because without Mobius you can maybe get a key card unplayable depending on the new cost. But Phastos just give good buffs for your cards, this can't be bad in any way lol

@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 however the later he is played the less of that "whole deck" you're going to actually draw with the buff or cost reduction. If played on turn 3 without card drawing you could think of him as equivalent to something between a 0-3 and a 3/9 in terms of what he gives you. Remember he's a +2 behind the current gold standard of a 3/5 plus a strong ability. I do think he's good but it requires hitting on turn 3 and/or drawing more cards cough Thanos cough.

I can see Reverend Cozy, Marriage Celebrant for sure. My wife and I used a celebrant who was a TV game show host in the 80s - not because we were particular fans of the show but he came highly recommended and he was brilliant, and Cozy has that same game show host energy on camera (that's intended as a complement).

Gilgamesh seems like a 2-3 star. Darkhawk, Devil Dinosaur, and even Ronan can all reach and sometimes pass Gilgamesh peak.

I'd say 3, since its condition can be easier to achieve than the alternates you mentioned. I suppose this is a win-more, but since it's an on reveal it can be applied again via Odin.

@@SalemSetto agree to disagree. You need the other 11 spots on the board filled and buffed to reach peak 5/18. How realistic is that? Then how many spots are remaining for counterplay on turn 6? If you just want a strong turn 6 card use Red Hulk

I’ve said this before but it’d be really cool if you guys pulled up the deck builder and started theorycrafting decks as you talked about the new cards. It’d be a nice visual aid to go along with the conversation. Love the pod ❤

I think some of the important combos for Thena might wasp, yellowjacket, and possibly pixie. You could drop Thena and wasp on 2 for a 2 energy 5 power swing that scales. Or do hope + wasp on 3, drop a sera on 4, get the discounts early for the rest of the game. And the pixie combo kinda explains itself

I'm SO excited for Arishem! I already love random cards and adapting my game to what I get, but he gives you extra energy right away FOR FREE! Seems like an AMAZING card! I have been grinding and having keys just for him, and maybe Phastos before if I get 8. (Though I still don't understand why the game doesn't give you unowned cards before variants. Makes no sense but whatever.)

I think Thena is probably pigeon holed into the Kitty Angela Hope movers deck but you will reliably get her to 2/7 or 2/10. +3 scaling is always nuts.

This is the month of Surfer without a doubt. Gilgemesh and Phasos are both insane cards for a deck that was already on the fringe.

Gilgamesh - great minds, as I was just saying to myself "Blue Marvel on 5, Squirrel Girl into Gilgamesh on 6... if you have the space" and Alex hit both parts of that thought. Gilgamesh to me is basically Devil Dino with a different condition, but likely to be in the same general range if you work to maximise him as Devil Dino is if you work to maximise him. Weird that you mention Panther, as I think clearly Panther remains better in that Wong Zola niche (you don't have time to play sufficient buffed cards on turns 1-3 before playing Wong, Gilgamesh and Zola, Panther remains the king of that specific corner). Actually besides Devil Dino my Gil comparison is Gamora. If you don't draw your Blue Marvel or Ka-Zar and get a lot of cards down for them to buff, there's a real possibility that Gil is just Gamora at home....

I don't get why so many people miss the obvious Anni Mockingbird decks Sersi synergy. You play hood right, mysterio with illusion right, sentry leaving the void right and then sersi right lane. That will give you a free Mockingbird, make you not have to rely on Anni and probably win you that location.

What you're missing with Makkari is that she's meant to synergize with Thena so that you can play your two cards and then have that come out.

I'm excited for Sersi but I think she might need something that's like Klaw + Armor so you can protect a lane without putting a card in there. There's just a lot of awkward hits, like Destroy cards or Attuma.

Sentry and mysterio are the best synergy cards for Sersi imo. turning an illusion into a 3drop and the void into a random 5drop plus a 5/7 body is a pretty big turn 5.

Gilgamesh being 5 will be great because you can run him with kitty. She will always have boosted power and you can get a premium stat line from Gilgamesh on turn 6 without getting rid of kitty

I think Hawkeye, Medusa and Rescue are cards that Gilgamesh could benefit from as well. Jessica Jones also likes a curved out Gilgamesh in a separate lane

How did you miss that Phastos is THE card to buff on-going living tribunal to the max? Phastos + Ravona + Magic means you'll almost always have one of them on turn 3 (odds of at least 1 of them on turn 3= 87.5%). Add a Crystal/Iron Lad to pull the last effect and you'll be able to have full access to your deck every game.

Phastos has some interesting synergy and anti-synergy with Mr Negative. Both want you to dig deep into your deck, both want to be played early, but you don’t want to play Phastos before Mr Negative. If you have Mr Negative in hand and can get him out on turn 3, then that’s your play…but Phastos kinda gives you an additional “out” bc he can always be played on 3 without help. Also he doesn’t get any better or worse if he’s in your deck when you play Mr Negative. A turn 3 negative into a turn 4 Phastos is just…amazingly good.

This may be huffing the hopium, but I think Phastos looks pretty cool for surfer. He either provides basically Sera or old Nakia, and even though it’s random, both are beneficial for Surfer. Kinda feels like Pixie for Surfer lol. And he’s 3-cost himself. I feel like a pretty cool Eternals/Surfer deck could be cooking.

Athena is the soul sister to Angela. The fact you can put here somewhere else and trigger her while you're playing into Angela's lane. If you activate her twice that's a 2/7, fairly solid card in bounce/Kitty decks.

I wanna put Gilgamesh into a wongzodia style deck. The 5 cost is pretty prohibitive to some big surfer scores but, if you’ve got the wongzodia set up with onslaught and sera, you could wind up getting him out for like 2-1 cost

Makaari seems like she could be pretty decent given the right set up but, she could also totally screw up you lane comp by going to exactly the wrong lane which always seems to happen with “random” cards in snap

Phastos is my favorite card this month, and I'm tempted to say it's by a fairly wide margin. I agree with the guys that there's a randomness to what you're getting from him, but both effects are positive....I have this sense that he's just going to be a good, value card that could sneak into a variety of decks. Overall, i think i'm comfortable saving up keys for most of this month and going for cards in Deadpool's month.

Play Yondu - he destroys Hood, play baron zemo on top - he steals Squirrel Girl to junk your other lanes, play Sersi - yondu turns into maximus so your opponent can draw free cards, baron turns into HellCow so your hand is obliterated and SquirrelGirl turns into carnage to kill the other 3. Great success 😃👍

Totally agree about Makkari as a bad card. But I feel she will be great in a storm + (war machine) + legion deck. Even if u draw her on turn 6 and can't play into all the flooded locations, I believe she will still run onto the board.

Prediction: some day we'll get a card that gives buffs to cards on your side of the board that you did not play. This will be a natural counter to toxic decks and it will give Angel/Makkari/MBaku and maybe even Shanna a home.

I think gilgamesh will be fun. Synergistic with: redhulk, namora, sunspot, nebula, ironheart, misty(evo), hulk(evo), kitty, angela, elsa, surfer, chavez, forge, nova, deadpool, venom, carnage, knull, hulk buster, patriot, kazar, shuri, blue marvel, havok, meik, collector, morbius, mr. Negative, thor, beta ray, nakia, okoye, bp, Sebastian shaw, nico minoru, phoenix force, captain America, punisher, dino, black hawk, ronan, dazzler, mojo, antman, strong guy, rescue, jessica jones, namor, orka, spectrum, sage, wolfsbane, phastos, blob... Im sure i missed a few. That is a lot of decks and archetypes. Highly versatile.

I think phastos goes in thanos and could help bring thanos back. Buff your stones or reduce energy potentially in a deck that only benefits from this and can play into an awkward curve due to the stones effectively. Gilly thanos ramp with blob sounds solid, helps blob as well.

Carnage will probably be good in an Arishem deck to eat up a bunch of garbage you don't want in play, but had to play to get it out of your hand.

I think Arishem is going to be craziest by just running Sera, Quinjet, and your favorite tech and powerhouse cards and you got a crazy deck that's hard to play against Sera can come down on 4 and Quinjet coming out at any point gives you minus 2 cost to half your deck and minus 1 cost to the rest of it and I think it'll be weirdly powerful in the hands of the most adaptive players

Black Swan is unironically 5-stars in Hit Monkey Bounce. Hit infinite with it this season pretty easily. Its so much fun when off-meta cards make a good deck. I use War Machine and Black Swan in this bounce.

I love running baron zemo and the absorbing man combo alongside mockingbird in some of my good stuff decks. So Sersi for better or worse is definitely getting added, even if she betrays me.

I've been saying for months that Hope, Havok is a legit combo that's insane in Surfer. It equals a 12 power turn 5 with the same amount of 3 costs you get to play with a sera turn 5. Phastos feels like the last piece Surfer needs to be top tier. I think Gilgemesh is in for Sera along with Hope, Havok and you have a deck that's going to destroy at top level post infinite.

Arishem deck needs Howard! You don't know what you're playing, so any advance peaks allows you to set up your board smarter for what's coming.

The only thing worse for Arishem decks than playing bad cards on top of the random cards will be playing bad cheap cards that don't make good use of the extra energy. The Howard effect is not worth using up a precious draw on.

I don't think you can easily grandmaster the sersi because some of the cards she transforms in her locations are likely going to be on-reveal and so have a chance to be grandmastered instead of sersi. absorbing man might work though. Also, Arishem only gives +1 energy at the start of the game according to its text, so sersiing the doctor doom is just leaving you with a 7 power card (but no additional energy) I guess.
