This week the European Parliament adopted a report on the legitimacy and sustainability of electoral processes in illiberal political systems and authoritarian regimes. An excellent report and very important recommendations. The only sad thing is that they apply only to non-EU countries.
I had to draw the deputies' attention to the fact that a report with the same recommendations could well be adopted with regard to Latvia, which has been a member of the European Union for many years. And this should have been done before looking for a speck in someone else's eye.
