Throughout the Second World War, there were a ruthless set of German SS executioners known as the Einsatzgruppe. These were responsible for the slaughter of millions across occupied lands, but there was a commander of the group who was later executed at the end of the war for his actions. Werner Braune was a virulent Nazi and he was in control of Einsatzgruppe 11b who carried out a massacre of over 14,000 people at one point.
Werne Braune was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, and during the Einsatzgruppe trial he was condemned and sentenced to death for his crimes. But he was executed a number of years later on the gallows inside of Landsberg Prison, but whilst standing on the trapdoor, the evil commander is standing there smiling.

Yes he only arrived when it was safe. Did not have what it takes to seize the territory from enemy soldiers. Even the fighting German soldiers despised them.

Evil ?...yes. Stupid ?...no. Some of the leaders of the Einsatzgruppe were well educated men. The leader of Einsatzgruppen C had two doctorates...Dr. Dr. Otto Rasch.

@@timheersma4708there are many people who are educated and stupid simultaneously. Everyone at the Wansee Conference was very well educated yet chose to direct huge amounts of resources to killing civilians instead of fighting the war. Many Eastern Europeans loathed Stalin, they were ready made allies for Germany. When the Nazis occupied their countries they behaved so badly most of the locals decided the Soviets were preferable to the Nazis. The blind hatred of the Nazis cancelled out most of the education they had.

I’d disagree with stupid. Some had double PHDs. They used educated people for the most part to run these groups. It was ideology. They believed they were doing the right thing. I think educated people in these cares were more likely to follow orders blindly than non educated who may question such orders. They’ve been used to training on how to think so easily manipulated. Evil, foresure 🤔

What a tragic phase in human existence. I used to be opposed to the death penalty, but in certain circumstances I can understand why it is used. I used to wonder why my old uncle told me they killed all the guards as they liberated concentration camps and how they kept the senior nazi’s for trials. I get his rationale now.

I thought that Einsatzgruppe 11b didn't make sense. Sure enough, it's Einsatzkommando 11b which was a smaller unit of Einsatzgruppe D (commanded by Otto Ohlendorf, also sentenced and executed).

@@tonycruzman162looking at the picture of the two guards and the way the faces are blocked out, this was a common thing to do at newspapers when they only wanted to use a facial shot of one person in a photo. This way the person preparing it for print wouldn’t accidentally use the wrong face, thereby in this case having a picture of a guard and identifying them as a prominent war criminal, which at best would be embarrassing and at worst leave them open to a libel suit.

One of the main leaders of a einsatzgruppen from a well to do Germany family, a university type got the death penalty at nuhrenburg, got it reduced to prison time, then got released early. It's not what you know or do, its who you know. Richard something I recall, I think the narrator did a piece on him.

The majority of the Einsatzgruppen (which operated under the command of the RSHD under Reyhard Heydrich, not the SS) were not SS men but reserve police battalions from southern Germany.

The Einsatzgruppen operated under the Sicherheidtsdienst, (a sub-department of the SS), the abbreviation of which was SD. The SD headed by Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhardt Heydricht.

@@davidlauder-qi5zv The Reich Sicherheits Haupt Dienst was not part of the SS, it included the Gestapo and the Grune Polizei. Read 'Ordinary Men' by Christopher Browning. He studied the subject and came to the conclusion that the vast majority of Einsatzsgruppen were men from reserve police battalions, mainly from Munchen. Of course there were many SS men too but these were not Waffen SS,. mainly men who were wounded and could not serve at the front any longer.

What i find annoyinly extraordinary is that when this monster and all the other monsters were about to be executed is that they would allow some idiot dressed in a frock to give them absolution, in affect saying this exection will pay for your crimes and you,ll be welcomed with open arms into paradise, was this for them or for the allies who knew about what was going on and did nothing

They did do something as quick as they could and as soon as they got in the camp they started feeding all the prisoners that were able to eat. Medical Care, showers. If it wasn't for them more innocent people would have been killed. Let's put the blame where it belongs to the Nazis. It's unfair to put it on the Allies who won the war and stop more people from being killed. That's the problem with this country there are a lot of bleeding hearts that want to put blame on America for absolutely no reason. I am sick of this silly voice narrating on these videos. He cannot pronounce one foreign word intelligently and is always putting a stupid singsong stress on the last words of a spoken sentence or phrase. It spoils the whole narrative. And another speaker should do a better job.
