I've always said the reason this film works so well is because everyone treats it like its a real situation.

One thing I think that gets overlooked is that the movie isn't really about Regan's possession but rather Father Karass' struggle with faith.

When my uncle was courting my aunt, he took her to see this movie in theater. Halfway through, she stood up and demanded he take her home.

My kid and I have a theory that the new Exorcist movie is actual a sequel to Repossessed. The reason is that the devil kid in the new movie refers to Regan being in danger again, and the only movie she really got repossessed in was, well, Repossessed. We're hoping that in the movie's finale (shown in detail in the trailer because this is modern day, and you can't have a trailer without showing the whole movie) a CGI Leslie Neilsen will save both kids. It might wind up being like the ending to the new Ghostbusters.

The GOAT. I'll never type that again ahem. They showed it so many times during late nights at the local cinema, me and some friends would go to watch the reactions. Fun times. This new one will be the comedy of the year, mark my words.

With Brad having a baby, I can't help but think this is another "children's" film in review.

No shit, so 3 1/2 mins in. You showed the beginning music, and I said to myself, "I remember when I rented this and was so confused that I took the VHS out of the VCR to double check I had the right movie." ...then you called me on it. You're freaking me out, Brad!

I just want to take the time to thank Friedkin for his body of work. Its really hard to pick the best one from his library but i have always had a soft spot for the Sorcerer. The first three exorcist features makes for a weird compilation as they all are great in their own ways.

One of my all time favorite movies! I remember reading the novel, and my sister asked me if I was okay, because the color was completely drained from my face and my hands were shaking

I remember seeing this for the first time, it was when Warner Brothers had just released the 20th anniversary edition VHS the one where they put the backwards stair walking scene back into the movie. My 9 y.o. self was not ready.

Nothing says horror classic like starting with an upbeat 80s montage. Happy Halloween, Cinema Snob.

I did read the book, and that was intense enough that I knew I likely shouldn't watch the movie. I appreciate the folks who do the analysis!

It's a fantastic film it really is. As far as sequels go, Exorcist 3. And that's it. 🤣
