Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer-Home Jeremy gets a very hands-on induction when he tries out the new F1-style Lotus T125 - courtesy of Jean Alesi.
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are challenged to knock down a row of derelict houses in less time than it takes a team of demolition experts to do the same job. Jeremy tests an updated version of the classic Jensen Interceptor and finds himself transported back to a 1970s world of leather driving gloves and droopy moustaches. The show also features the Lotus T125 which brings F1-style performance to the track, plus another celebrity guest attempts a record lap in the Reasonably Priced Car.

It’s also the fame they have to live with but you also pay for their reputation and branding. It’s all business and the better you are at your job the more you can make for your sponsor and investors and therefore the more their willing to pay to keep you away from competition. People can’t see that and always hate and say they should earn less than doctors but when you think about, how many people truly make it to that level. How competitive do you think it is to become an f1 driver or a footballer at Manchester or Liverpool. So I’d argue they do deserve the reward of losing their childhood to work and discipline.

The BBC is supposed to promote a safe working environment. That means you should be able to work at there without Jeremy Clarkson punching you in the face. I wouldn't call that a mistake. Did it cost them money? Oh yes, absolutely. But they knew it would, and still held on to their principals. And by the way, they only got rid of Clarkson. The Hamster and May left on their own.

jesperom[SF] Nah, of course right wing is not up there with racist. It’s often closer to ignorant, but it depends on the person. Don’t get me wrong, I feel the same about left wingers. In any event, all three terms can be (depending on who’s evaluating) negative. Outspokenness is not, or at least, should not be. It’s something to be encouraged in every situation. That’s all.

@Smithelwerb

Alessio Balsamo You'd be surprised. I'd wager a guess that his helmet only stops about 3% of the air from getting there. The intake is at such a low pressure that it can just pull the air from around the sides of his head, it doesn't need the stuff directly in front. Plus only about a tenth of what's going in there is actually burned, the rest is for cooling. I'm sure the engine isn't losing any power at all. Source: am an Aerospace Engineer, work on cars.

When I drove the Tyrell F1 at Mallory Park a few years ago, Jeremy came along full of excitement and anticipation. However, he was unable to even get his legs inside and eventually stormed off home in a bit of a huff! Was funny...

It's like driving a super kart on a big track. I've done that. The power is one issue. But the real hard part is seeing your brake points from such a low perspective. It's not bad if there are tires or something on the outside of the corner to key on. But with just low curbs, it's a nightmare.

I had the opportunity to sit in Derek Warwick’s A11 Arrows, which just took a record at Goodwood. With no electronics and no seat, my head was over the intake, and my legs were considerably past the pedals. It took me about 30sec to get fully in, and probably a good minute to get out because there are limited areas to put your hands to get leverage, but I can still say I sat in a Formula 1 car, and that is super cool.

@john jones u watched indycar in 2003 when their engines hadnt the pace of tge new Honda engines? After their gen 3 engine cosworth introduced a 3.5 L V8 XG badged as a Chevrolet Gen 4 engine to IRL IndyCar Series.

@john jones hmmm thats pretty interesting. Never heard of the 3.8l version. Maybe a separate qualifying engine? But i dont think that would be ok with the indy reglement in 2003 to have 3.5 and a 3.8l version. Can u please hit me up anytime u find out more about the 3.8l version?
